"Where is he now? Where is our army?" General Vick angrily slammed the table, grabbing the staff officer beside him and roaring at him, "Tell me, a mutant, in front of the whole world, destroyed our Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building, and now you let him stay in Manhattan unharmed. Am I crazy, or are you all a bunch of useless scum?"
He violently threw the poor staff officer to the ground, "Now, tell me, where is the army, and where is the enemy?"
"General, the garrison in New York has fallen!"
"You're telling me what? You used the word 'fallen.' Are you telling me they were all killed by a mutant bastard?" An enraged Vick lifted the staff officer high, his bloodshot eyes glaring at him.
The staff officer's teeth chattered, his legs trembling uncontrollably. He nervously looked to the left, and Vick released the staff officer, walking in the direction he was looking. A gentleman with meticulously combed hair was calmly watching the screen, as if he hadn't heard Vick's stormy roar.
Vick threw a right hook, aiming to punch the damn woman into the screen, but a large hand like an iron hoop grabbed his right fist. A stern-faced giant steadily held his hand, and then the man slowly turned around.
"I admire your spirit, but those are bastards! They are bastards, monsters, freaks! They are the world's evil!" The gentleman raised his right hand, signaling the giant to release the general, and slowly said, "But they are also powerful monsters, General. Take your little babies home!"
"This is a battlefield, leave it to the professionals!"
"We are the professionals! Striker!" Vick's face turned red, gritting his teeth as he retracted his right hand, which had been crumpled.
"Is that so?" Striker lightly tapped the screen, and a shaky image appeared. On the screen, an armored vehicle and a tank collided, a truck disintegrated while speeding, and the soldiers on it were thrown onto the road. Countless fully armed soldiers screamed as they were crushed by a massive gravitational force.
Fighter jets disintegrated in the air, their mechanical parts turning into scrap, burning steel and gasoline forming a giant fire tornado that destroyed everything nearby. F-16s, fragile like paper, were controlled by an invisible force and slammed into the ground.
Vick didn't even see an enemy. Soldiers were injured by bullets that fired automatically from their magazines, and vehicles were destroyed by their own operational forces. American pride in their weapons was shattered as they self-destructed under enemy control. Not a single enemy, not even a lone figure, was seen. Soldiers fired into the sky in panic and were hit by falling bullets.
Blood, fire, and iron twisted in the burning air.
"This is your performance, helpless like children in front of them," Striker sneered. "You didn't even see him, and in the process of searching, you destroyed yourselves."
Vick's face turned ashen. He gripped the table so tightly that his nails pierced the wooden surface, staining his hands with blood, but he seemed unaware, staring at the screen. "What's going on? Where are the battlefield assessment experts? Where is the intelligence team? I want all the information, everything!"
The staff officer shakily stood up, his voice trembling, "Code name 'X,' unknown nationality, unknown age, unknown identity. Based on his behavior, there is an 80% chance he is Chinese. No information on his actions. His first appearance was the shocking live broadcast that stunned the world."
"His ability is telekinesis, classified as gravitational control. He is an Omega-level mutant. According to the data, his precision is at the nanometer level. He claims to have the power to pull down an asteroid and destroy the Earth..."
With a 'slap,' the staff officer covered his face and crouched down. Vick put down his teacup, furious, "Besides 'unknown,' what else did you find, you scum! Everyone knows this! How did he destroy our army? What are his weaknesses? How do we kill him? His family, friends, country—could he be a ghost?"
"An asteroid is not enough to destroy the Earth, only humanity," Striker said calmly. "Your information is already the most we have, Vick. We know nothing about him; he has no trace of existence in the world."
"But we know he is a weapons expert, proficient in most of our standard weapons, familiar with every parameter of mechanical structures. He is a physics expert, able to apply a small force to destroy a massive object. He is an energy expert, a chemistry expert, a high-energy physics expert, and more critically, a nuclear expert!"
"Don't tell me he can synthesize a nuclear bomb!"
"Not that powerful! But if he has nuclear material, he can trigger a violent fission reaction, which our technology cannot stop," Striker sighed. "The power of intelligence and science, the greatness of humanity! Although he is a mutant scum, he is more human than any other mutant. The others are just beasts, but he is the hunter."
"You mean any nuclear power plant on our land could become a nuclear bomb at any time!" Sweat dripped from Vick's forehead. "What are we waiting for? He is a thug, an unprecedentedly dangerous madman. Wait, are you sure about all this?"
"Do you think the Washington carrier group's nuclear power was destroyed by what?" Striker smiled.
"I saw the Washington group in the shipyard just the day before yesterday! Striker, don't try to fool me!" Vick glared at Striker, fiercely.
"Take a look!" Striker handed him a file with a double-headed eagle's secret mark, standing with his hands behind his back, facing the screen. "The massive heat from the nuclear reaction destroyed the core of the carrier. What lies in the shipyard now is a pile of scrap metal."
"Our pride, in X's hands, is a nuclear bomb ready to explode! He can easily destroy all the carrier groups. The Department of Defense has issued a strict order: no nuclear weapons are to be used against X."
"If that's the case, why didn't he destroy the Washington?" Vick found it hard to believe, questioning.
Striker was silent for a moment before speaking, "Professor X, that mutant scum, proposed a possibility. He believes X is promoting peace between mutants and humans, making the world recognize the power and value of mutants, and integrating them back into human society."
"Promoting peace by destroying the Earth? By killing?" Vick laughed wildly.
"Is war not the greatest force for ethnic integration? Faced with such a crisis, mutants and humans must unite, communicate, and the power of mutants will make opponents tremble and supporters cheer them as heroes. His actions have a high possibility," Striker said calmly.
"Are you saying we are facing a saint in human history, like Jesus?" Vick laughed loudly, finding it the most absurd thing. He pointed to the battlefield on the screen, to the flying bullets, and said, "Are you sure Jesus did this?"
"He is Satan, without him, why would people yearn for heaven?" Striker smiled. "Most of the soldiers are just injured; the actual death rate is not high."
"He is Satan to mutants, but I am not a lamb waiting for the gospel. The only value of those scum is to lie on the experimental table. The only fate of those monsters will be destruction! So, find him, kill him, no matter what he wants to do."
"So?" General Vick narrowed his eyes.
"So, let the professionals handle it. Let the hounds behind me give X a taste of their power." Striker looked at the black-clad men behind him and sneered, "Go! My weapons!"
In Manhattan, smoke and fire filled the air, the unextinguished flames casting a black haze. The once bustling and prosperous center of New York now lay in ruins, a vast wasteland. The once crowded streets, filled with elites, were now home to only a few stray dogs and rampaging bandits.
Huge steel structures spiraled in the center of Manhattan. These television towers and steel frames, gathered from all directions, twisted into a massive steel throne on the site of the Empire State Building. Chen Ang stood at the peak, gazing into the endless distance.
"Finally, he's here!" Chen Ang sighed.
Invisible gravitational forces, like a giant spider web, extended across the entire United States and continued to spread to other regions. Every mass that could influence gravity was reflected back by this vast web, connected through Chen Ang and the electromagnetic internet that spanned the sky.
Now, Chen Ang served as the global network's hub, using wireless networks to harness the infinite computing power of global computers to monitor every detail of the world.
Chen Ang was rapidly simulating Professor X's telepathic abilities, learning and observing the world.
In the distance, Chen Ang clearly sensed several bodies with peculiar magnetic fields rapidly approaching, "Striker, don't disappoint me!"
