Chapter 27

――Character――
Kawakami Keita: 15 years old (soon to be 16)
Height: 170 cm, Weight: 68 kg
Black hair, black eyes: messy hair
Affiliation: Army School Oume Branch, 1st Year A Class
Rank: Second Lieutenant (Special Second Lieutenant)
A boy who vaguely retains memories from his past life.
One of the subjects in the Third Savior Plan.
A fairly severe otaku, but with low enlightenment.
However, since the world he was reincarnated into was one where robots and large enemies actually existed, his otaku brain did not heal even after reincarnation; rather, it worsened.
After his parents died and he could not trust the relatives who claimed to be his, he decided to live with his sister.
He enrolled in the military school to send his sister Yuna to university and has been steadily earning achievements.
After being promoted and receiving a decent salary, he has a bit more leeway compared to before, but his purpose for attending the military school, which is to bring peace to his life with his sister, has not changed.
Although he does not intend to engage in enlightenment activities, it seems that he is doing so in effect.
He is pleased to have received 2 million yen as a special reward in addition to his promotion for his performance in the previous battle.
――Mech――
Hybrid Prototype No. 1: Mikage
After summer, hybrid types will be called Mikage types.
Manufacturer: Saigo Heavy Industries
Color: Black
Height: 6 meters
Weight: 30 tons (56 tons with all armaments)
Armaments: 120mm smoothbore cannon × 2
155mm howitzer × 1
40mm machine gun × 1
Grave × 1
Nodachi × 1
Scutum-type shield × 2 (with close combat weapons inside the shield)
Overview: This is the "strongest machine I can think of" created by the engineers of Saigo Heavy Industries.
"Can't we use heavy artillery if it's heavy enough?"
"Let's improve its mobility while we're at it."
"How about putting a beast-type lower body and a normal-type upper body together?"
"「「「That's it!」」」"
As a result of this somewhat malicious brainstorming, a machine was born that broke the common sense everyone had.
While it has the firepower to take down large enemies in one hit and mobility that rivals the Yatsufusa type, no one could move it even in a simulator until Keita piloted it.
For a while, all the developers were given the cold shoulder by Saigo Takafumi's wife and daughter, who asked, "What's the point of making a machine no one can move?" However, Saigo Takafumi, who had a glimmer of hope that "an excellent student might be able to move it," gave a passionate presentation to the military, and after the responsible person repeatedly emphasized, "Only for a short period" and "Give up if it doesn't work," the machine was finally admitted.
The total weight keeps increasing, but due to the machine's growth and optimization, the load on Keita is kept to about 20 kg.
The color is black, not because of Keita's preference, but to consider the concealment effect during nighttime rest.
Because of this color and Keita's fighting style, it is recognized as a "four-legged, tough, black, and jumping machine." As a result, when people hear about it without seeing the video—especially the pilots of mass-produced machines—they tend to think of something and make a grim face.
The control system is different from conventional machines and uses a command system where the machine performs predetermined actions by imagining pressing buttons. In fact, Keita moves it this way on his own.
Incidentally, the buttons Keita recognizes are 16 in total: the 6 directions (up, down, front, back, left, right) plus 10 more (A, B, C, D, L1, L2, L3, R1, R2, R3). L3 and R3 are used for special weapons but usually assist in movement.
Each button has a meaning, and pressing multiple buttons simultaneously can result in special actions, so the list of commands is only understandable to Keita.
To understand this, one needs a brain contaminated by the aforementioned company, a vast amount of time, and a great deal of love, so it is understandable that no one else can comprehend it.
The Prototype No. 2 was seized and disassembled by the military, effectively erasing it.
Currently, the Prototype No. 3, which incorporates Keita's combat lessons and uses a large amount of large materials, is being manufactured.
Types of Machines
In Japan, the officially adopted types are:
Normal Type: Kusanagi
Beast Type: Yatsufusa
Both have been revised several times.
While they are generally managed by the state, the royal family and certain samurai are allowed to own them personally, so it is believed that some have special modifications.
However, since machines grow and optimize within the pilot's magic crystal, it is generally recognized that other machines are also more or less modified, so they are not considered particularly special.
Control Method
Regardless of the type, the basic method is for the pilot to enter the cockpit in the chest of the machine and embed their body in a place where flesh and machine merge.
The appearance is similar to the scene in Kinnikuman where the firehouse strength was sealed in the wall during the throne battle. A search might make it easier to understand.
The sensation during operation is similar to that of Alaya.
――Military School――
A school run by the National Defense Force to provide higher education and lieutenant education. Major education is provided at the university level.
The main campus is in Kichijoji, and Keita attends the Oume branch.
Until a few years ago, the prevailing attitude was that "officers should not fight themselves," so Kichijoji was considered superior to Oume. However, after the Third Division was literally wiped out, the perception within the military changed to "those who cannot fight in a crisis are trash," and the Oume branch, which only accepts people with the ability to operate machines, is now considered superior.
The principal is a member of the royal family, and the class teachers are rotated among major officers from the First Division.
Kusaka Shizuka, the teacher of Class A, is a major in the First Division and also a noble from the Kusaka family, so she has some connections with the royal family. This is one reason she is called by Asaka, but since she knows very little about Keita, she only feels troubled when called.
――Terms――
First Savior Plan
A plan to use the power of demons allied with humans to artificially create demons and monsters.
Initially, instead of using the bodies of dead monsters, children given demon factors were used to give factors to animals to create monsters, which were then used directly.
Later, the monsters were mechanized, which became the prototype of the machines.
Second Savior Plan
Originating from a boy who, after being implanted with a magic crystal by his parents, who were part of the coexistence faction, absorbed the crystal on his own and became a being that could be called the progenitor of demons. Originally, the plan was to create pseudo-demons without the intervention of demons and mass-produce demons and monsters that would serve humans.
The artificial magic crystals and machines that are now the mainstay of the National Defense Force are secondary products that emerged during the process of this plan.
Third Savior Plan
Improvement and mass production of the artificial magic crystals created in the Second Plan.
Additionally, a plan to create humans who can adapt to these magic crystals.
Higher adaptation rates and purer magic crystals are constantly being sought.
Currently, there are about 1,000 test subjects.
Keita is one of the first-phase test subjects and is the only one still alive.
There are several cultivation patterns, such as being constantly observed in a research institute, receiving education in a military family, and being raised in a general family.
Keita and Yuna are recognized as a successful case of being raised in an environment that mimics a general family.
――Monsters――
Small: Monsters less than 3 meters. They are like humans turned into imps, wild animals gone berserk, or combinations of humans and animals living by instinct. They are also food for medium and larger monsters.
Medium: Monsters 3 meters or more but less than 10 meters. They include giants like ogres, minotaurs, and cyclopes, as well as wild animals that have grown larger.
Large: Monsters 10 meters or more but less than 30 meters. They often have significantly changed forms from existing creatures, similar to the Tachikomas in Ghost in the Shell or the Vajra in Macross Frontier.
They are thought to be in a pre-mega transformation state (biological transformation, not referring to Keita).
Mega: Monsters 30 meters or more. They are thought to be the evolved form of large monsters and often resemble mythological creatures in appearance.
In Japan, they are named based on their size and characteristics, such as "Ushi-oni type," but the names vary by country.
Thank you very much for all the reviews.
I will continue to update, so I hope you will continue to enjoy my work.
