Chapter 9: Sooner or Later

After wandering around the space for a while and seeing that there was nothing else to do, Zhao Hai came out of the space and quietly lay on the bed, his mind constantly thinking about everything that had happened since he woke up.

Since he found out that he had transcended, Zhao Hai was not at all afraid; instead, he felt a bit of joy deep down. On Earth, Zhao Hai was a shut-in, living off a meager income from writing, under great pressure.

But things were different here. Here, he was a noble, though ostracized, he had his own fief, even if it was a dead land. He also had a few loyal subordinates, a hundred slaves whose lives he could decide with a word, his own castle, and servants. Most importantly, he had the space farm.

Although he didn't know where the space farm came from, as long as he had it, he wouldn't have to worry about food and drink for the rest of his life. Living a carefree life would be quite nice.

While thinking about these things, he also pondered the future development of the farm. But thinking about it now was pointless; he had to wait for the farm to develop further.

However, the farm had clearly undergone a mutation, and it was unclear whether this was good or bad. So, if there was a chance tomorrow, he had to get some black soil from outside into the space to see if it could be transformed with space soil and space water. He also needed to accumulate funds quickly to buy more seeds from the space and bring some space water outside. This way, even if the space farm disappeared in the future, he would have his own piece of land, which was the foundation for survival.

As he thought, he fell asleep again. In his dream, he built a large estate, became the estate owner, and lived a beautiful life.

Just as he was having a sweet dream, a voice suddenly came: "The radishes are ripe, please harvest them as soon as possible."

Zhao Hai woke up quickly and rushed into the space. He found that the radishes were indeed ripe, each one so large that they had cracked the ground.

Without hesitation, Zhao Hai ran to the edge of the space land, dug up a large white radish in a few quick moves, wiped the dirt off with his hand, and took a bite, regardless of how dirty it was.

The sweet and slightly spicy juice of the radish filled his mouth, and Zhao Hai couldn't help but sigh. The taste was really excellent. On Earth, Zhao Hai particularly liked white radishes, which were sweet, unlike green radishes, which were always very spicy. The white radishes grown in the space land tasted much better than those on Earth.

While chewing the radish, Zhao Hai examined the one in his hand. This radish weighed at least three pounds, which was not small for a white radish. It was straight, plump, and very appetizing.

Zhao Hai laughed happily and walked to the window of the thatched cottage, picked up the basket with the word "collect" written on it, and shouted loudly at the ground: "Collect!" The radishes in the field were pulled out as if by large hands, flying into the basket, which never seemed to fill up. Zhao Hai looked down and saw that the radishes disappeared as soon as they entered the basket.

In no time, the entire field was harvested. Zhao Hai checked the warehouse and found that all the radishes were stored there, leaving only the holes in the ground.

Zhao Hai did not sell the radishes but bought another bag of seeds and ordered the small shovel to start plowing the land. He then planted the seeds. As soon as he finished planting, he heard a "ding," followed by a voice: "Congratulations, you have reached level two. The system rewards you with two bags of cabbage seeds, each bag can plant one acre."

Zhao Hai pouted and said, "Really stingy, the seeds can only plant one acre."

After finishing his work, Zhao Hai came out of the space and looked at the sky outside. It was still early, with the first light of dawn just appearing in the east.

At this time, Green and the others were still asleep, and even the slaves were still sleeping. Zhao Hai, however, was too excited to sleep. He sat in the room, eating the white radish he had dug up from the space, the taste of which was irresistible.

A three-pound radish was too much for Zhao Hai to finish. He only ate half of it, but something strange happened. Zhao Hai felt a warm current in his stomach, and his body was suddenly full of energy, with no trace of sleepiness.

Zhao Hai was stunned. He had never experienced this before. He had eaten a radish, not a stimulant. How could this happen? Could it be that the radish was actually ginseng?

Thinking of this, Zhao Hai touched his nose, afraid that he might have a nosebleed, but he found that his nose was still clean.

Zhao Hai laughed at himself. He was prone to overthinking, often doing things that others found ridiculous.

However, he was sure that what he had just experienced was not an illusion. He still felt energetic, with bright eyes and no sleepiness.

This was unusual. From Adam's memories, he knew that he had drunk the Void Water. Although drinking the Void Water had no effect on those who did not study magic or martial arts, it made people very tired. Even if you wanted to become a warrior through physical strength, it was impossible. How could he feel so energetic? The only explanation was the radish.

Thinking of this, Zhao Hai became even more excited about the radish. He immediately stored it in the space warehouse and decided to ask Green about it later.

Looking at the sky, it was already getting light, but it was still very early. Everyone was still asleep, and Zhao Hai didn't want to wake them. However, staying in the room was too boring, so he slowly walked out to take a good look at his castle.

Leaving the inner castle, he slowly walked forward, passing a small square, and arrived at the outer castle. The structure of the outer castle was very simple, with a stone floor and rows of stone houses. Behind the stone houses was a wall, which was very high, about ten meters. Walking near the wall, he found that it was also very thick, about four meters. The gate seemed to be made of wrought iron, about four meters high, with a huge iron bolt in the middle. There was a mechanism on the gate for inserting and removing the iron bolt.

This mechanism was very clever. By turning a handle at the bottom of the gate, the gears would rotate, moving the iron bolt to lock or unlock the gate.

Zhao Hai nodded, surprised by the advanced mechanics in this world. Looking around, he saw nothing except a pile of supplies Green had bought in the middle of the square. There was nothing else.

Seeing the supplies, Zhao Hai couldn't help but smile bitterly. It seemed that Green was not good at business. He had exchanged all his gold coins for these things. Didn't they know that gold coins could generate more gold, while these things would eventually run out?

It seemed that Green wanted to turn this place into a secluded estate. But thinking about it, he was right. If Zhao Hai hadn't transcended and was still the original Adam, living here might have prolonged his life. If he had money to go outside, he might have died quickly.

Turning to the stone stairs next to the gate, he slowly climbed up to the wall. The wall was entirely made of a bluish-gray stone, looking very sturdy. The wall was well-preserved, with neat battlements that didn't need repair. At each corner of the wall was a watchtower, providing all-around protection for the castle.

Zhao Hai turned to look at the inner wall. The inner wall was even higher than the outer wall and also had several watchtowers. It was clear that the castle's defenses were formidable.

Turning around, he looked outside the wall. Outside the wall was a moat about five meters wide, filled with clear water, indicating that it was a flowing stream. There was a drawbridge over the moat, about five meters wide, made of thick iron chains and a large iron frame with new wooden planks.

Directly opposite the gate was a straight road made of stone, extending far into the distance. It seemed to have been unused for a long time, with many weeds growing on it.

Zhao Hai knew that the castle had been abandoned for many years. The road had only been used once when they arrived. He believed that in the past month, no one had left the castle, which was why the road looked like that.

Apart from this road, the land outside the castle was all black, barren, and desolate, with a deathly silence.

At this moment, the sun rose, and the golden sunlight shone on Zhao Hai. Standing on the wall with his hands behind his back, he looked at the rising sun and couldn't help but feel a surge of passion. He laughed loudly, "Good! This castle, everything here is mine. Although it's just starting, like the rising sun, one day, I will make this sunlight shine across the entire land!"

Zhao Hai didn't notice that Green and the others had already woken up and were standing below the wall, quietly watching him, their eyes filled with tears of excitement.
