Zhao Hai nodded and then said, "Grandpa Green, how do we solve our meat problem now? Haven't we bought some meat-eating magical beasts to raise?"
Green didn't know why Zhao Hai was asking this, thinking he was worried about not having meat to eat, so he immediately replied, "Young Master, don't worry. We have already purchased some Blue-eyed Rabbits and Long-haired Pigs for our meat consumption. You don't need to worry about eating meat."
Zhao Hai was at a loss, realizing that Adam's humanity in the past was really not good. He wanted to find a fast-breeding and non-picky animal to raise, but Green thought he was worried about not having meat to eat. This was completely off the mark.
At this moment, Merlin and Meg walked in with several trays of food. The food on the trays was much simpler compared to Zhao Hai's.
Zhao Hai looked at his tray, which contained a white bread, two eggs, a piece of meat, and some vegetables. Given the current situation, his food was already quite good.
On Green's tray, there was only black bread and some vegetables, no eggs or meat at all. This made Zhao Hai feel a bit sad, but he didn't say anything. He just picked up his knife and fork and started eating. When Green and the others saw him start, they also began to eat.
Green and the others ate slowly, only Mu Tou and Shi Tou ate quickly, and it was clear that Merlin had given them much more food than the others.
It had to be admitted that Merlin's cooking was quite good, though not as delicious as Chinese cuisine. However, to make such simple food taste this good was already impressive.
Zhao Hai nodded in satisfaction and quickly ate the food in front of him. Although he was not used to eating with a knife and fork, he was indeed a bit hungry, so he ate very quickly.
However, by the time he finished, Green and the others had already finished and were standing there watching him. This made Zhao Hai quite helpless, but he knew that this situation couldn't be changed in a day or two.
After eating, Merlin and Meg cleared the trays and brought in a pot. Smelling the aroma from the pot, Zhao Hai knew it was Koya. Koya was a drink similar to coffee, the favorite beverage of the continent's nobles.
Green quickly poured a cup for Zhao Hai. Zhao Hai took a sip, finding it similar to coffee, and nodded. He picked up the pot and poured a cup for Gao Sen, then pointed to a stool and said, "Grandpa Green, please sit. I have something to discuss with you. Come, have some Koya."
Green hurriedly said, "No, I'll stand, sir."
Zhao Hai stood up and pressed Green into the chair, saying, "Grandpa Green, you are my grandfather's generation, the one who watched me grow up. You are my elder. If it weren't for you, I might not have survived this disaster. Please don't be so formal. Sit down, I really need to discuss something with you."
Green sat down, looking at Zhao Hai, and tears suddenly streamed down his face. He murmured, "I'll sit, I'll sit. Young Master has grown up and become sensible."
Zhao Hai sighed dramatically, "After all these experiences, I should have grown up. I'm sorry, Grandpa Green, for making you worry in the past. I won't do that anymore."
Green shook his head, "No, Young Master, don't say that. It was my fault for not protecting you well, which led to your troubles and the decline of the Buda family."
Zhao Hai shook his head and smiled bitterly, "This isn't your fault. How could my father listen to you? Well, let's not talk about that. Grandpa Green, do you know of any magical beasts on the continent that are not picky eaters, grow quickly, and reproduce fast?"
Green was taken aback by Zhao Hai's question but knew about these things, so he immediately replied, "There are many such magical beasts on the continent. The Blue-eyed Rabbits and Long-haired Pigs we raise belong to this category. They are all Level 1 magical beasts with no offensive capabilities. Blue-eyed Rabbits grow from birth to maturity in just over three months. After maturity, they can produce offspring every month or so, with no fewer than five offspring per litter. Long-haired Pigs have a longer growth cycle, taking about eight to ten months to mature. After that, they can produce offspring every four months or so, with no fewer than seven offspring per litter. These two magical beasts are the main sources of meat on the continent, and many people raise them."
Zhao Hai nodded, "Which of these two magical beasts is more commonly raised?"
Green said, "Long-haired Pigs. Although Blue-eyed Rabbits are not picky eaters, they are herbivores and usually only eat plant leaves, unlike Long-haired Pigs, which eat anything."
Zhao Hai nodded, realizing that the Blue-eyed Rabbits were not much different from rabbits on Earth. He immediately stood up and said, "Grandpa Green, didn't you say we bought Blue-eyed Rabbits? Take me to see them."
Although Green didn't know what Zhao Hai was up to, he was glad to see him finally showing concern for the family's situation. However, he still said, "Young Master, it's late. I think we should go see them tomorrow. You should get some rest."
Zhao Hai looked at the sky and realized he was a bit too eager. He nodded, "Alright, we'll go see them tomorrow. But, Grandpa Green, I noticed there are still many supplies on the castle grounds. Why haven't they been moved inside?"
Green looked troubled, "Young Master, it's not that we haven't moved them, but the castle is too small to accommodate all the supplies. We are organizing the slaves to build wooden sheds to store the supplies."
Zhao Hai nodded and looked at the sky, "Do the slaves have places to stay? It's already April, and the rainy season is approaching. They need a place to live. We have only a few people left in the Buda family, and we will rely on them in the future."
Green's worried expression immediately improved. When Zhao Hai asked about the supplies, he feared Zhao Hai would ask about the slaves. In the eyes of the continent's nobles, the slaves were far less valuable than the supplies. If Zhao Hai thought the same, he would certainly evict the slaves from the houses to store the supplies.
However, Green knew that the Buda family had only a few people left, and the rainy season was approaching. If the slaves were forced to live outside, they would easily fall ill, leaving them with no one to rely on.
But Green didn't expect Zhao Hai to think of these things. This made him realize that his young master had finally grown up, so he hurriedly said, "Young Master, please rest assured. Everything is arranged."
Zhao Hai nodded, "With Grandpa Green here, I am at ease. I'll go rest now. We can discuss other matters tomorrow." He then walked upstairs.
At this moment, Merlin and Meg also came out of the kitchen. Seeing Green standing there with an excited expression, Merlin asked curiously, "Old man, what's wrong?"
Green suddenly laughed heartily, "Young Master has grown up and become sensible. Hahahaha, the heavens have not abandoned the Buda family." He then recounted his conversation with Zhao Hai to Merlin, finishing with a smile, "Young Master is now concerned about the family's affairs. This is a good thing. As long as Young Master can manage the family well, even if the Buda family doesn't grow, it can still continue. No matter what, the Buda family will not disappear."
Merlin was also very happy, "Whether it grows or not doesn't matter. As long as Young Master is safe, that's all that matters. I think the current situation is better. In the capital, the Buda family was prominent, but it also drew too much attention, which is why we were betrayed. Now, far from that trouble, living a simple life here is better. The Black Earth Wasteland has nothing, so no one will have any designs on us. The Buda family is safer here."
Green nodded with a smile, "Yes, that's exactly right. That's why I bought an equal number of male and female slaves this time, to prepare for the future development of the family. Now, I don't have any other hopes. As long as Young Master is safe and the Buda family can continue, I am content."
Merlin also nodded, smiling. Meg stood behind Merlin, her face expressionless, but her eyes showed a hint of joy.
Zhao Hai heard Green's laughter and, recalling Green's expression, understood why he was so happy. He couldn't help but laugh bitterly, realizing that his mere normal behavior had made them so happy. It seemed that the previous Adam really hadn't done much good.
Back in his room, Zhao Hai couldn't sleep. Perhaps it was because he had slept too much during the day. He lay in bed, eyes wide open, but couldn't fall asleep.
After lying there for over an hour, Zhao Hai still couldn't sleep. He decided to go to the space to check on the radishes.
As soon as he entered the space, Zhao Hai was stunned. He hadn't expected the radishes he had planted just a few hours ago to already have grown large leaves, and they seemed close to maturity.
Zhao Hai stared at the radishes in amazement. He hadn't expected them to grow so quickly. Although the space soil and space water could accelerate plant growth, this was still incredibly fast.
Zhao Hai couldn't resist walking to the edge of the plot and digging up a radish to check. He found that a small part of the radish had already grown underground, but because the time was too short, it was still small and needed more time to mature.
Zhao Hai chuckled to himself, then reburied the radish and stood up, muttering, "At this rate, they will be mature by tomorrow morning. Then I can ask Grandpa Green if there are radishes here and if the Blue-eyed Rabbits eat radish leaves. If they do, we can start a farm. Hahaha."
