The cold wind burrowed into her clothes, and MoonWon’s body slightly trembled, but she grit her teeth and endured it.
The day had turned into night, and then the morning came. The sharp sunlight pierced through her skin for a moment, but the night soon brought a bone-chilling cold. However, she had to hold on. This cycle repeated and repeated…
The sun rose several times, and the moon stretched across the sky. Her body began to crumble like her mind, but Heon did not appear.
Drip, drip.
One drop turned into two. Raindrops fell onto the back of MoonWon’s hand.
“Mistress.”
She thought she heard a faint voice. Was her body weakened by the rain to the point that she was now hearing voices?
“The Master will not come because you do something like this.”
The faint voice grew clearer, and MoonWon used all her might to lift her head.
Because she was already drenched in rainwater, she hadn’t noticed that Hong-yeom had covered her with an umbrella.
“Hong-yeom… How did you get in? If the Master finds out…”
“You know how good I am at climbing walls.”
It could have been because her vision had been impaired by the rain, but she thought she saw Hong-yeom’s complexion darken.
She tried to smile but gave up. She didn’t know what kind of face she was making. Because she had been kneeling on this cold ground for so long, she couldn’t move her legs let alone one finger.
Seeing this, Hong-yeom bit his lip.
“At this rate, you’ll die, Mistress.”
Someone would have reported to Heon that she was kneeling like this outside. However, he didn’t even blink.
As if she’d disappeared in this vast residence, no one even looked at her.
“I’ll go and find out what happened to your father, Mistress. So please go back inside.”
“I’m still… okay.”
“Mistress!”
“For now, I need to receive my husband’s permission to leave here.”
She could endure the dirty looks that came her way for being branded an adulteress. Although she was terrified of going through this all alone, she could still hold on for now.
However, YongUn would not be able to withstand this. Not after having fallen once before.
“I need to leave.”
She still didn’t know where she’d gone wrong. She thought she had done her best to live, but in the end, this was the result.
She didn’t blame or hate anyone.
Right now, she was only worried about YongUn, who was in a more dangerous situation than her.
“I haven't done anything wrong.”
“Mistress! You must go inside.”
“I can still endure it.”
Her vision grew blurry. She shook her head to recover her senses, but it wasn’t an easy task.
She raised her head and thought she saw Heon.
“For now, I need to leave…”
Although she tried to tell herself it wasn’t true, she knew.
Heon did not come.
He believed that she had betrayed him, so there was no way he’d come to see her.
Her blurry vision went completely dark. As if a candle had completely burned out, her surroundings disappeared. MoonWon collapsed to the ground.
Hong-yeom was about to support her unconscious body and stretched out his arm, but at the same time he did this, someone appeared and grabbed her.
“Ah!”
Heon was as drenched as MoonWon.
His cold, emotionless eyes remained on MoonWon in his arms.
“The Mistress isn’t the type of person to do such a thing!”
Normally, just the sight of Heon would make him run away in fear. Hong-yeom didn’t even like seeing Heon by chance.
However, the only person who could help MoonWon wasn’t him. It was Master Heon.
“The Mistress only has you, Master.”
“How dare you!”
“Yeori lied.”
Junghwan arrived a step behind Heon and tried to stop Hong-yeom from saying anything more, but Heon blocked him. Although Hong-yeom was trembling from head to toe, his eyes remained steady.
However, that only lasted a moment. Ultimately, he turned his eyes away from Heon’s.
Heon’s eyes went back to MoonWon. His eyes were cold, but a flash of frustration passed through them.
“Call the doctor.”
MoonWon’s eyes twitched as Heon picked her up. Her light weight surprised him, but more than that, he noticed that her entire body was burning with a fever. His heart sank. Heon hurriedly walked to her room, and the servants went ahead and opened the doors.
Watching Heon with worried eyes, Hong-yeom felt someone’s gaze and turned around.
“You!”
He threw down the umbrella and ran towards Yeori, who quickly turned around. However, her legs wouldn’t move, and Hong-yeom blocked her path.
“Move!”
“How can you be human?!”
“I didn’t do anything wrong! I said move!”
Yeori grasped her skirts and ran away from Hong-yeom. Seeing this, Hong-yeom grit his teeth.
“Mistress was the fool for trusting someone like you.”
Yeori stopped in her tracks. Hong-yeom stared at her back and shouted out.
“That foolish mistress told me she’d trust you!”
“......”
“I told her to be careful… I told her I saw you with someone strange and that she should be careful around you…”
Yeori’s body began to shake. She clasped her hands together to stop the trembling, but her pale face had a look of horror.
However, Hong-yeom couldn’t see her expression because her back was turned to him.
“Because you stayed by her side when everyone avoided her… She told me there was nothing to worry about. Mistress was so foolish.”
“How dare you run your mouth!”
Yeori turned around to scold Hong-yeom, but she quickly closed her mouth. Having realized what had happened, she staggered. Seeing this, Hong-yeom’s eyes reddened.
“If Mistress dies, it’s your fault.”
“No.”
“You made her that way.”
He could still clearly feel her touch as she praised him while stroking his head. She had become like a mother to him.
MoonWon needed evidence. However, no matter how much he looked, he couldn’t find it.
‘I’m so incompetent.’
Even when she was in a difficult situation, MoonWon never frowned or got angry. She smiled and smiled as she told him they’d get through this somehow.
When everyone avoided him because of his unlucky blue eyes, MoonWon told him they were lovely and bright.
