"Time Magazine calls her a magical girl, perhaps she really does have magic..."
Lily was reading the news about Katherine in the New York Times, while Katherine herself was taking a shower in the bathroom.
"Kate, did you really spend $20 million to make a movie?"
"Of course!" Katherine's voice came from inside.
"It's hard to believe."
After all, these days, even some so-called "blockbusters" might struggle to reach a $20 million box office.
However, Katherine's benchmark wasn't the current so-called blockbusters. A true Hollywood blockbuster should be something like Star Wars.
That was Katherine's goal.
Katherine collapsed onto the bed, exhausted.
She was considering whether she could apply to avoid attending school. In the United States, many child stars go through this process; they have private tutors who teach them during breaks from filming, sparing them the trouble of attending classes.
That way, she would only need to take exams, and even for studying, she would only need a private tutor.
Katherine certainly wanted to drop out of school.
But... that was impossible.
Katherine was currently in the compulsory education stage. If she resisted compulsory education in any way, her parents would suffer the consequences.
Katherine was even considering whether she should skip a grade. As long as she could graduate early, it would save a lot of time.
After all, with her foundation, over a decade, Katherine hadn't wasted her time. She thought her idea was quite good.
"Exhausted."
Katherine suddenly pulled the blanket over her head.
"What's wrong?"
"Learning horseback riding is really tiring."
Starting this year, Katherine's physical education class required her to learn horseback riding. Grier Girls' School had many unique features.
"You'll get used to it."
Lily picked up the book on the bedside table. She was now in high school, and there was much more to learn than before.
"Lily... I'm thinking... about not coming to school anymore. You know, I have a lot of things to do."
After much thought, Katherine finally spoke up.
"What?!" Lily was shocked.
"Hey, I have a lot of things to do. Staying here... probably won't work. And I have to go to New Mexico to film..."
Lily opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.
"What about after that?"
"After filming, I'll probably come back to school... well, I need to talk to my parents about this..."
After saying goodbye to her classmates and leaving school, Katherine arrived in New Mexico.
For Sean Connery, this role was the most novel in his ten-year acting career.
The director was a 14-year-old girl who had previously directed and starred in a $10 million box office hit.
The film's budget was an unprecedented $20 million, and he really didn't know what kind of film required so much money.
However, the script for "Wasteland" was very appealing to Sean Connery.
The script was innovative. Although it was set after the apocalypse, the plot was very plausible. Upon closer inspection, such a description might indeed be humanity's future.
Although Sean Connery had seen Katherine's photos or videos before, this was their first face-to-face meeting in Mexico.
"Hello, Mr. 007." Katherine smiled and greeted him.
"Hello, Miss Magical Girl."
Connery also smiled.
"007" was a script Katherine really wanted to "steal," but unfortunately, it had an original work, and the adaptation rights had already been bought by United Artists, leaving Katherine with no options.
Sean Connery's portrayal of 007 was the closest to the original among all the series. Without Sean Connery, there would be no 007 series in the future.
The "world's sexiest man" was now in his prime, incredibly handsome.
After meeting Katherine in person, Connery became even more interested in filming the movie. He felt that this film would bring surprises.
As for the other two main actors, they weren't as complex as Connery. Freeman was completely blank, but being a future superstar, "Mr. God" (he had played God multiple times) quickly adjusted.
Bruce Lee, on the other hand, was curious about American-style filmmaking.
Katherine's team numbered in the hundreds, and various props were being moved around by the crew, something he had never seen in Hong Kong.
"Alright, everyone, I assume you've all read the script I gave you. Although the 'shelter' is still being built, the exterior set is ready, so what we need to do now is finish the exterior shots..."
Katherine had prepared a lot of props.
In "Wasteland," many creatures had undergone genetic mutations, such as giant moles and highly aggressive insects. These required the crew to carefully configure them to look as real as possible.
Katherine's idea was simple.
Since the current special effects weren't realistic enough, she decided to make everything in the movie look as real as possible.
In addition, there was a monster called "Deathclaw" that could rival the Alien. This monster was worn by actors, making it a human portrayal.
To build the set, Katherine gathered many scrapped cars and other buildings to create a town with a post-apocalyptic style. She also constructed a partially collapsed overpass.
At the end of the film, the protagonist stands there, looking into the distance.
In every aspect, Katherine required "absolute realism."
She also bought a lot of still cameras for the crew, all for the preparation of filming.
Katherine spent a lot of money on Bruce Lee's armor.
He played a member of the "Brotherhood of Steel," a group advocating justice. He was part of the elite squad, the "Paladins."
During a mission, Bruce Lee was knocked unconscious by a blow to the back of his head and was presumed dead by his comrades. Later, when a wasteland scavenger tried to remove his equipment, he woke up.
Katherine originally wanted to give Bruce Lee a "nano-suit" from "Crysis 2." But then she had a better idea. If possible, she even wanted to make a "Crysis" movie...
...
Uh, I've recently become a bit obsessed with corsets...
