1 Hide and Seek

At the northern Xue village, a group of children were playing hide and seek. The little children were scattered around, where the biggest guy of them, was counting in front of a tree. Some hide between shrubs, some behind trees and one even swung himself up on a tree like a monkey, hiding behind branches. In the end there was just a pair of girls standing around, not nowing where to hide.

Those two were looking completly different, were one appeared like a 7 years old, the other one was half her size, seemed like a 4 or 5 year old girl. The special thing was between all of them was the youngest 4 - 5 year old girl, her eyes had a diffrent color then all the other playing children, whose were black or a brown color, hers was a sapphire like blue, shining beautifuly with the contrast of her snow like skin and soft features. Every one would now with one look, that she will become a gorgeous lady when she grows up. Her hair was like black silk, fine and lustrous, even if the others had the same colour, theirs were like hay, a long time of not taking well care of gave them such a result. It was easy to see, that she had a better life then the others, what could make anyone jealous and angry at the girl.

"Big sister Rui, where should we hide, big brother Zhou will be coming we have to hurry!'' said the 4 year old girl with her babyish voice, that was almost not understandable.

"Ok, ok Mel, don't rush me lets see… ok lets hide there,'' said the 7 year old, black haired girl with freckles and a faded brown robe. She pointed at a big rock, standing far from the counting boy, "Lets hide behind that rock, brother Zhou shouldn't find us there.''

"What!! No! We can't, grandfather said that we should not go to the border whatever the circumstances is. There is a big cliff, what happens if either of us fell down?!'',came from Mel, with no intention to budge one centimeter in that direction.

The cliff was in the size of two front yards of the Villagehead, that was as big as two modern familiy houses. A big rock served for all to see the starting point of the cliff.

Annoyance and disgust flashed in the eyes of An Rui, but she could suppress it so that Mel didn't notice anything.

"Ohhh, come on Mel, just for once will not hurt us, we have to hurry now, brother Feng Zhou is almost finished counting come on, come on!'' shoving her in the direction of the rock, Mel still hesitated, but followed An Rui.

"But…. Ok, if sister Rui says so it must be ok for once.''

Hearing what Mel said, a sneer came up on An Ruis face, unfortunatly Mel who was in front didn't see anything or she would have been shocked, seeing such kind of expresion on her gentle and caring sister Rui, who looked after her since she can remember.

(Heh, as if not dangerous, WE will defintely not be hurt, but… you, you mixed Barbarian child, should hope for a painless death. Who allowed you to be the Villageheads granddaughter, you disgrace or you would be dead a long time ago!!)

Finally hiding, behind the rock came the loud shout from Feng Zhou,"Hidden or not, I don't care, I'm comiiing.''

…Time went by and Feng Zhou found one by one, until only Mel and Rui were left behind, since Feng Zhou coldn't find them a while later, everyone was helping searching, shouting something like, "An Rui, Mel you guys won, so come out already, we want to go back to the Village!''

When Mel, who was the whole time paying attention to the searching children, heared what one said, started to happily giggle to herself, not paying any bit of attention to the cliff, just laying one meter behind her or at An Rui who stared daggers at her, just waiting for the best chance to push her down the cliff.

"Hahaha, did you hear sister Rui we won, we won! Haha sister Ru.. AHHHH!!?'' before Mel could finish her sentence, it was cut off by her screaming.

An Rui took her chance when Mel was jumping happily, to shove her down the cliff from behind, the other children heard Mel and were rushing to the border rock.

Hearing the scream from Mel, the nine year old Feng Zhous face paled, as he came to the border rock and shouted, "What the hell are you guys doing there?!! Don't you now its forbidden to go there! AN RUI..MEL!!''

Getting no answer, Feng Zhou bacame more anxious and a dreadful though of something happening to the girls appeared in his mind. He was the oldest of all the children, if anything happens, he takes responsibility as the eldest brother for everyone.

Arriving behind the border rock, he saw An Rui kneeling in front of the cliff, tears streaming down her face, seeing him she talks incoherently, "Me..l ..is 'sob' dow..n th..there'sob'.''

Finally finishing this one sentence, An Rui "broke" down and flung herself at Feng Zhou, crying stronger then before.

"Sorry,…I coldn't protect her.''

"W..What?! No, that can't be true, I h..heard Mel just a moment ago. Did I not?''

An Rui did not give him any response, she was busy crying her body and soul out to make herself act believable.

The other children catched up and at the time they understand what happend, they did not look any better then the pale Feng Zhou, a skinny guy immediately said, "I.. I will go call the Villagehead.'' And run off faster then a rabbit in heat.

"What should we do?'' after 'calming' down a bit in Feng Zhous embrace, An Rui asked aloud what to do. She pushed down Mel and was now fidgeting about the consequence that could now wait for her, if she gets the responsibility, so she whined in Feng Zhous embrace, " Mel was so happy to win that she jumped around and didn't look at her step, after… 'sniff' that she stumbled d..down the cliff, its my fault.''

Again hearing what happend, Feng Zhou felt really unwell, he just hoped Mel was alive and the Villagehead could somehow salvage this situation.

"Its ok, its surely not your fault An Rui, I as the eldest didn't look carefully at you guys, its my fault, lets hope Villagehead can do something.''

Lowering her head An Rui acted hurt by what happend, clenching her hands at Feng Zhous pale blue robe and plastering herself inappropriately at him.

Noticing that it is indecent, Feng Zhou still lets An Rui in his embrace, to comfort her from this shock seeing her own little sister(not by blood), whom she grew up with, falling down this black hole of a cliff, filled with dense fog, that let no one see through.
