Sorry, this is a bit short (;^ω^)
After an unexpected reunion that took longer than anticipated, the time to return was drawing near. Alvis and Elina exchanged farewells with Father Mars and Zelie in front of the church.
"I'm sorry for taking up so much of your time."
"No, it was our pleasure, thank you."
Not only Alvis, but Elina as well, had the chance to meet old acquaintances. Though it wasn't part of the plan, they managed to spend some good time together.
"Are you about to head back to the capital?"
"Yes. I plan to return to the capital the day after tomorrow."
The inspection of the Duchy of Berfias was just a formality; it felt more like a homecoming, spending time with old friends. However, it's unlikely that Alvis will stay in the Duchy of Berfias for such a long time again. This visit as the crown prince will probably be the last. Perhaps that's why he was given this time. At least, that's how Alvis felt.
"Prince Alvis, please allow me to watch over you from this distant land."
"Father Mars."
"Not all the time you spent here and the events that occurred were pleasant, I imagine."
"Yes. But it's because of everything that happened that I am who I am now. I understand that fully."
When Alvis said this clearly, Father Mars looked surprised. Alvis smiled, reassuring him. It's okay. The events here, meeting Schrita, and everything that followed, all led to where he is now. It was a long detour, but he understands it now.
"Prince Alvis."
"I wanted to tell the people who knew the old me. I'm sorry for the delay in reporting."
Alvis bowed deeply. He should have done this much earlier, when he decided to leave. It was quite late. When he said this, Father Mars shook his head.
"That was the result of your own efforts, and those of everyone else, not just us. We merely watched over you."
"Father Mars."
Alvis thought Father Mars was saying the same thing as Leona. If he continued to speak, Father Mars would say it wasn't necessary. If Alvis wanted to show his gratitude, he should do so in a different way. As the crown prince, he should lead the country in a way that demonstrates his appreciation.
"Thank you."
"I wish you both good health."
"Father Mars, and you too, Zelie."
They shook hands one last time, and Alvis and Elina left the church. They then returned to the carriage that was waiting for them and headed back to the Berfias ducal residence with Elina.
