Chapter 17

Ban opened the small box in his hand and found it was covered with various labels. He looked up and asked, "What does it say?"

"What do you want to eat?" Cat Xiaoxian jumped in front of Ban.

"Ramen!" Uchiha Ban quickly said, naming his favorite food. Whether in his past life or this one, his favorite food was always ramen.

"Let me see! I found the ramen. You should know how to use it, right?" Cat Xiaoxian picked up a small bottle filled with yellow liquid and handed it to Uchiha Ban.

"Okay!" Ban nodded, inserted the syringe into the bottle, and drew out the liquid. He looked around, saw a small tree by the cave entrance, and walked over to it. He inserted the syringe into the tree trunk and pushed the plunger, injecting the liquid into the tree.

Suddenly, the small tree emitted a golden glow. The leaves on one of its branches quickly fell off, and a fruit appeared at the tip of the branch, rapidly growing to the size of a coconut before stopping.

"It's ready to eat!" Cat Xiaoxian shouted.

Ban picked the brown coconut, split it open along a crack, and a burst of hot steam and a rich aroma filled the air.

"Wow!" Ban exclaimed, looking at the steaming ramen in his hands.

"Hurry up and inject the tree for me." Cat Xiaoxian, stimulated by Ban's ramen, couldn't wait any longer and started jumping.

Ban put down the ramen, took the blue bottle from Cat Xiaoxian, and repeated the process. He inserted the syringe into the tree, which now emitted a blue glow.

He was curious about what kind of food it would be, but he would soon find out.

Cat Xiaoxian jumped up, hugged the brown coconut, and hopped onto a nearby rock. She opened the coconut, and Ban picked up his ramen and joined her, sitting beside her. He glanced at Cat Xiaoxian's food and saw various fish inside, emitting an enticing aroma.

"Of course!" Ban shook his head, took out a pair of chopsticks from his pocket, and placed them in the ramen. He then took out a fork and put it in Cat Xiaoxian's bowl.

"You're quite thoughtful." Cat Xiaoxian praised.

"In scenes like this, I've seen it countless times in anime. I know it by heart, but I never thought I'd experience it myself." Ban smiled, picked up his chopsticks, and started slurping the ramen.

Under the hazy moonlight, the stars twinkled. A man and a cat sat on a rock in the forest, eating ramen and fish, both feeling they were the happiest people in the world.

What is happiness? Happiness is lying on a bed of carrots, hugging tomatoes, and being covered by cabbages, dreaming of the same. This is the happiness of a rabbit, but it applies to humans as well. Happiness is actually very simple, but you always chase after distant happiness and ignore the happiness right in front of you.

"Ban, what kind of person are you?" Cat Xiaoxian looked at the starry sky and suddenly asked.

"Are you still thinking about that question?" Ban put down his empty ramen bowl and wiped his mouth.

"What can you do about it? I haven't been to your world, but my former world wasn't much nobler than this one. In any world, there will always be good and evil, right and wrong. Your world must have them too, just hidden in the darkness where you can't see them." Uchiha Ban said.

"Is that how all humans are?" Cat Xiaoxian asked, puzzled. Although she was highly intelligent, she was still a simple cat robot and didn't understand the most complex species in the universe—humans.

"Human beings are called humans because they have emotions. When I take your can, you get upset. If someone hurts you, I get angry and might do something terrible. This is what is called the human heart. I can't be completely selfless, but I can be true to myself." Uchiha Ban smiled.

"Hmph! You're talking nonsense." Cat Xiaoxian blushed, though she was secretly amused.

"Where there is light, there is shadow. Where there is a winner, there is a loser. If you think of maintaining peace, you will inevitably start a war. If you want to protect love, you will inevitably breed hate." Uchiha Ban ignored Cat Xiaoxian and slowly spoke his future famous words.

"Huh?" Cat Xiaoxian was completely confused and didn't understand what Ban was saying.

"Those words are actually mine, but they are much earlier than they should be. I was supposed to have experienced all the pain and been deeply hurt by this world before saying these words and choosing a path with no return. But now, I want to live differently." Uchiha Ban lay on the rock, crossed his legs, and said leisurely.

"Why don't you leave the Uchiha clan and find a place to live in seclusion?" Cat Xiaoxian asked, puzzled.

"Because I am Uchiha Ban!" Ban hugged his shoulders, the corners of his black clothes fluttering. Seeing Cat Xiaoxian's even more confused look, he smiled and said, "Living freely doesn't mean running away. I have things that only I can do. Success or failure doesn't matter, but I absolutely cannot back down. You'll understand in the future."

"Xiaoxian, I've finished my lecture. If you have no more questions, can you give me the foldable house? I want to go to sleep." Uchiha Ban's eyelids were heavy, and he said helplessly.

"Hmph! All you think about is sleeping." Cat Xiaoxian gave him a disdainful look.

"Aren't you the same, always thinking about eating?" Ban thought to himself but didn't say it aloud, considering whether he could sleep peacefully.

Ban and Cat Xiaoxian returned to the cave. Cat Xiaoxian took out a paper-like object the size of a diary and handed it to Uchiha Ban, saying, "Open it in the middle of the empty space."

[Foldable House]

Item Description: Comes in many types. When opened, it turns into a house. Although made of paper, it is harder than steel.

"Okay!" Ban nodded, pulled out the foldable paper, and shook it. It instantly turned into a large sheet of paper several meters wide. He placed it on the empty ground in the cave, and with a thud, a brand new house emerged from the paper.

"This is much better than a tent." Ban exclaimed, though he had seen it in the manga, the experience of using it himself was incredibly impressive.

"Ugh..." Cat Xiaoxian yawned, ignored Ban, and walked into the house, the light inside quickly turning on.

Ban took out a roll of wire and several shurikens from his ninja tool bag, set up a trap for security, extinguished the candle in the cave, and walked into the house. Inside, it was about ten square meters, with a bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom, fully equipped with living facilities.

Ban opened the bedroom door and found Cat Xiaoxian happily jumping on the bed.

"Finally, a bed to sleep on!" Ban sighed. Since he had been transported, he hadn't seen a bed. He had first slept on tatami mats and then in a hammock in the forest for a few days, which was extremely uncomfortable.

"Get some rest!" Ban turned off the light, got into bed, and fell asleep.

"Ban, what were you thinking when you were in the Qin era?" Cat Xiaoxian, lying in bed and looking at Ban's back, suddenly asked, thinking about what he had said earlier.

Ban suddenly opened his eyes. His Sharingan spun faster and faster in the darkness, and the single tomoe in each eye turned into a double tomoe.

"Phew!" Ban closed his eyes and let out a light snore.

"He must be asleep. He must be tired." Cat Xiaoxian said, a bit disappointed, but she didn't notice that Ban's hands were tightly clenched under the blanket.
