Chapter 9

No, no.

I woke up, opened the window, and basked in the morning air.

I calmed myself as I thought.

‘No, no, how did it come to this?’

Caesar went out earlier than me again this morning.

I also have to get ready soon.

……Should I discuss it with Harris?

No, well, I feel like there’s no use even if I do though.

I don’t… hate beauties that are good at doing indecent things…that much.

Rather, it feels so good that it might become a habit.

Then the problem is……what’s the problem?

Caesar will eventually lose interest in me anyways…

If that happens, I’ll probably just become a normal roommate.

I slowly walked to the infirmary in a trance.

But it’s so good I could die, I want to savour these pleasant feelings while they last~

I felt a chill run down my spine as I recalled that feeling.

This is bad, really bad, I might be out of my mind from overdosing on this.

I drank tea while looking at the door of the infirmary while thinking, ‘They probably won’t be coming until my shift is almost over again today,’.

Coming here is not all that bad somehow.

I might’ve been working a bit too much last time.

I was devoted to my research, immersing myself in doing experiments day and night.

I only ate rations or nutritional supplementary food as a meal.

It’s not bad to live a life where people appreciate me for what I do.

Instead of finding ‘something bad to do’, I should find ‘something good to do’.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door.

“Is Lord Louie around?”

“Yes?”

It’s a voice I can’t get used to.

As the door opened, a man with brown short hair came towards me, smiling, for a handshake.

“I’m the newly appointed deputy chief, Tarta.”

“Ahh, I’ve heard of you. I’m Louie and I’m in charge of the infirmary.”

His big hands gripped mine and shook it excitedly.

”

”

He has a good attitude and appearance, he’s similar to Harris somehow…

He’s also an athletic person.

If it’s like this, Caesar’s paperwork might not decrease at all.

“Um~…Your hand……”

When I noticed that he had been holding my hand for a long time and called out to him, I realized Tarta was staring at me.

“Uhh…?”

“Beautiful……”

“Hah?”

“It’s as if you’re Mephis, the healing spirit.”

W-well, I don’t think I look bad, but I haven’t been told that I look beautiful so seriously before, so I drew back a little.

By the way, Mephis is often painted with mysterious black eyes and long black hair. Is that the common point?

“T-thank you very much.”

I should thank him just in case. Yeah.

“What are you doing?”

As I heard that voice, I instantly let go of the hand that was gripping mine.

It’s Caesar.

“Ahh, Captain Caesar. I will be in his care from now on, so I was greeting him.”

“You’re not done filling out the documents. If you’re done here then quickly return.”

He’s glaring at me.

No, the one who was skipping work is the deputy chief, not me…

“Well then, Lord Louie. See you.”

“Ah…Yes. Good luck with your work.”

Caesar is glaring at me again. Did I say anything that bothered you?

Even though Tarta is going away, he’s still looking at me.

“Ah, uhh. Lord Caesar, good luck with your work too.”

“……Ahh.”

Caesar’s expression softened with satisfaction.

Eh? Was that enough?

I wonder if it’s because my attitude towards the deputy chief and the captain was different.

I feel like there are no such rules. Is it a matter of etiquette?

“…I won’t let you be in the same room as that guy.”

Eh. Sure.

The words he said when he left were mysterious…

It seems like I can’t have Tarta take over the role of keeping an eye on me.
