He had deep facial features and a sunny face.
When he smiled, phoenix eyes slightly narrowed as he revealed two small canines.
When he wasn’t smiling, the depths of his eyes would be concealed under a layer of cloudy shade, looking indifferent, distant, and arrogant.
He sat in the last row of the middle group together with Cheng Qi.
She didn’t dare to turn her head around and continue looking back at him. Silently reeling in her gaze, she blankly listened to Si Ze explaining the problem to her while recalling what happened last night in sadness and annoyance.
“Are you for real? You squatted at the school gates for so long this morning, but you still haven’t found the girl?” Cheng Qi sneered.
Yu Xiujin leaned back lazily in the chair and heaved a long sigh, “Yeah, should I wait until later and take the chance while classes are going on, when people are more accounted for, to then go stroll around the freshman and sophomore classes?”
“Are you sure that person is our junior?”
“It should be? She looked quite young, with a height that doesn’t even reach 160cm, with wispy bangs, and big eyes.”
“Tsk. You can’t tell, you actually like that type…I thought you liked the mature elder sister more.”
Yu Xiujin raised an eyebrow.
“For example,” Cheng Qi stretched his tone, “Fang Lu…”
Hearing that name, his face instantly blackened and said sharply, “Shut up.”
……
……
The teachers had a unique method for selecting, for example: selecting the students that had the same student number as that day’s date to come up and answer the question.
Unfortunately, Shen Mengmeng was named to go up and solve a problem. Forcing herself, she slowly stood up from her seat, feeling her cheeks burning hot.
“You can do it!” Si Ze smiled at her, “Just do what I told you before and it’ll be fine.”
She secretly took a deep breath and went to the stage. As she picked up the half length of white chalk, she recalled back the steps to solving the problem and she wrote them one by one, stroke by stroke, on the blackboard.
She was only halfway through before she heard the math teacher whispering on the side, “This place, did you calculate it wrong?…”
Her face instantly turned red, holding the chalk and hesitated in worry, unable to continue writing.
Just as she wanted to confess that she did not know how to solve this problem, she heard a bout of commotion behind her.
She looked back. Yu Xiujin, for some unknown reason, had suddenly got up and walked towards the podium.
He smiled habitually, his eyes full of confidence.
After meeting her eyes, the phoenix eyes slightly narrowed, suddenly adding in a little aggressiveness, which caused her to shudder.
He walked up to the podium, took the blackboard eraser without anyone’s permission, and wiped clean all the steps she wrote to solve the problem.
“That…” She mumbled through her lips. Thinking of how she was already embarrassed up to this point, should she step down from the podium now?
But he stood behind her and blocked her way with his tall and lofty figure.
The two were very close together. His scalding hot chest seemed as though it was resting against her back.
She could practically feel that the scorching breaths he exhaled brushed across the top of her head.
“This question should be solved like this.”
As he said that, he actually enclosed her small hand that was stopped in front of the blackboard, within his big, dry, and warm palm under everyone’s astonished eyes.
As though teaching a child how to write, he took her by the hand and wrote down a series of numbers and characters on the blackboard.
For the first time, she felt that it was such a happy thing to come up to the podium and solve math problems because it meant that she could be in such close proximity to him.
After solving the question, he leaned over to her ear and said softly, “Remember it now?”
Shen Mengmeng nodded obediently, her heart pounding as her body grew red and hot.
“Do you also remember what I taught you on the train yesterday?”
She froze and dropped her little head in shame.
It was not until he let go of her hand and slowly walked down from the podium that she breathed a sigh of relief and returned back to her seat.
