Chapter 40

Although the Phoenix-tailed Chicken was extremely tempting, Huang Yu was not the kind of person who would be swayed by wealth. After all, no matter how good something is, one must have the means to obtain it. Since he could not deal with the Phoenix-tailed Chicken himself, there was no need to take the risk. He could always come back to catch it when his strength was sufficient.

"Which direction is the Dragon-crested Gecko?" Although Huang Yu had the ability to detect, it was virtually useless in front of Lulu. Therefore, he did not hesitate to ask for Lulu's help directly.

"Southwest direction." Lulu yawned and said, "Alright, go find it yourself, Master. Lulu is sleepy and needs to rest. Don't disturb Lulu before tomorrow. I haven't had a good rest for so long, I'm going to get wrinkles."

Huang Yu's forehead was instantly covered with black lines upon hearing this. He had never heard of a system spirit growing wrinkles, and he was speechless.

Walking towards the southwest direction, it took about half an incense stick's time before Huang Yu finally found the Dragon-crested Gecko.

The Dragon-crested Gecko lived up to its name.

On the high stone wall, the Dragon-crested Gecko looked like a dragon lying on the wall, appearing very majestic and powerful.

However, since the Dragon-crested Gecko was on the stone wall and Huang Yu had no flying ability, nor could he stick to the wall like a gecko, dealing with it would not be easy.

After some thought, the only way to deal with it was to use a flying knife. Since he could not go up, he could only use the flying knife technique to deal with the Dragon-crested Gecko.

As if sensing danger, the Dragon-crested Gecko climbed up about ten meters on the wall.

Seeing this, Huang Yu frowned slightly. Climbing up ten meters would increase the distance, reducing the power of his flying knife. Moreover, if it climbed a bit higher, it was uncertain whether his flying knife could penetrate the Dragon-crested Gecko's defenses.

He needed to think of a way to make the Dragon-crested Gecko come down a bit. Otherwise, it would be difficult to kill it.

However, making the Dragon-crested Gecko come down was not an easy task. He wanted to ask Lulu, but she had already said not to disturb her before tomorrow. Huang Yu was helpless; even if he called her, he couldn't wake her up, as he had experienced this a couple of times.

Should he just wait until the Dragon-crested Gecko came down on its own, or until Lulu woke up? The thought of this made Huang Yu quite frustrated.

This was indeed a troublesome matter.

Given the situation, he needed to think of a good plan to kill it.

Huang Yu gently tapped the bamboo beside him as he thought.

How could he make the Dragon-crested Gecko come down?

Was there something the Dragon-crested Gecko liked? If he could find suitable bait, making it come down wouldn't be too difficult.

But the key issue was that he didn't know what the Dragon-crested Gecko liked.

Since he didn't know, he had no idea where to start.

If he couldn't lure it down, could he poison it and knock it out?

Or, he could find a special item to help him get up there. Since he could use the flying knife technique, he just needed to get within range.

There were two ways to deal with it: make the Dragon-crested Gecko come down, or go up himself.

Since making it come down was not possible, he had to go up himself.

But how to get up was a problem that needed to be solved.

He checked the system's exchange function, hoping to find a good method there.

Huang Yu opened the system's exchange function and looked through the potions section.

If he could find a potion like a mind-control drug that could deal with first-stage mystic beasts, that would be perfect.

After a thorough search, Huang Yu found a potion that could knock out mystic beasts.

Dragon Drunk.

This potion, called Dragon Drunk, was a powerful mind-control drug that could even knock out a dragon. It was specifically designed to deal with mystic beasts and was created by a beast tamer alchemist ten thousand years ago, who spent almost his entire life on it.

However, when he saw the price of Dragon Drunk, Huang Yu's heart sank.

Dragon Drunk came in different grades, with the strongest version capable of knocking out a seventh-stage mystic beast, and the weakest version capable of knocking out a second-stage mystic beast.

But even the weakest version required 30,000 life energy points.

30,000 life energy points was too much. He had only 1,800 life energy points from his journey, plus the 400 he originally had, totaling 2,317. He was far from 30,000.

Even if he used spirit stones, he would need 60 low-grade spirit stones, and he only had three. Even if he exchanged all of them, he would only get 1,500 life energy points, totaling 3,800, which was far from enough.

Since he couldn't exchange for Dragon Drunk, he had to give up on it.

This method didn't work, so he needed to try other methods.

Cultivation techniques could also work, especially flying techniques.

After a thorough search, Huang Yu's face turned bitter again. Flying techniques were available, but they were as expensive as Dragon Drunk and required a certain cultivation level, at least the Human Infant Realm. Seeing this, Huang Yu gave up. Even if he had the life energy points, he couldn't meet the cultivation requirement.

So, this method was also out.

Potions didn't work, and cultivation techniques were the same. Huang Yu was very frustrated.

"Hmm..."

Suddenly, a book caught Huang Yu's eye—*True Martial Continent Compendium*.

This book introduced various things about the True Martial Continent. It was useful, and the exchange price was not too high, which he could afford.

1,500 life energy points were needed to exchange for this book.

After some hesitation, Huang Yu finally exchanged for it, hoping it would be useful and help him find the Dragon-crested Gecko's weakness.

After the exchange, Huang Yu eagerly opened the book.

The book was thick and contained a wealth of information, covering astronomy, geography, and various aspects of the True Martial Continent. Of course, the latest information was from a thousand years ago, and the events of the past thousand years were not recorded.

In other words, this book was a thousand years old.

Phoenix-tailed Chicken, Dragon-crested Gecko.

Huang Yu quickly found information on both mystic beasts.

The Dragon-crested Gecko's weakness was its reverse scale, a small white scale under its neck, which was quite hidden. However, the Dragon-crested Gecko's body was as large as a person, and its head was facing down. By lifting its head slightly, Huang Yu could see its reverse scale.

This small reverse scale was the weakest part of the Dragon-crested Gecko's defense, and a single hit could be fatal. In battle, the Dragon-crested Gecko would protect its reverse scale as its most important defense.

However, the Dragon-crested Gecko did not think Huang Yu could attack its reverse scale, so it lifted its head slightly, paying attention to Huang Yu, seemingly not considering him a threat.

Huang Yu sneered. This was an opportunity. Knowing the weakness, it would be much easier to kill the Dragon-crested Gecko.

As long as he hit the reverse scale, even if he couldn't kill it in one hit, making it fall from the wall should not be difficult.

Huang Yu had not expected much success this time, thinking he would have to wait until Lulu woke up the next day. However, the *True Martial Continent Compendium* turned out to be very useful, and the 1,500 life energy points were well spent.

After putting away the compendium, Huang Yu took out a fruit knife and stared at the Dragon-crested Gecko, taking a deep breath.

"This is the moment."

Huang Yu seized the opportunity.

"Throwing Knife Technique."

The fruit knife instantly turned into a white light, shooting towards the reverse scale under the Dragon-crested Gecko's neck.

"Crack."

The fruit knife easily pierced the reverse scale and entered its body.

"Aaaah..."

The Dragon-crested Gecko let out a painful cry. The intense pain made it lose its grip on the wall, and it fell as Huang Yu had predicted.

"Thud."

The impact on the ground worsened the injuries the Dragon-crested Gecko had already sustained from Huang Yu's throwing knife. It was now at the end of its strength and could not even stand up.

Seeing this, Huang Yu was overjoyed. He had not expected it to be so easy, hitting it in one go.

He took a few steps to the half-dead Dragon-crested Gecko and stabbed it in the heart with the fruit knife.

"Ding, Congratulations, player has killed a mid-first-stage mystic beast, Dragon-crested Gecko, gaining 330 experience points and 330 life energy points."

"Ding, Congratulations, player has obtained a Dragon-crested Gecko mystic beast core."

Success. He had completed four-fifths of his task. He only needed to kill two more first-stage mystic beasts to complete the A-level task and obtain the Lightning Dragon Technique.

Thinking of this, Huang Yu was eager.

*True Martial Continent Compendium*, right. He had seen information about the Phoenix-tailed Chicken earlier but didn't have time to check it in detail. Every animal has its weakness, and mystic beasts are no exception. The Phoenix-tailed Chicken must have a weakness. If he could find it, killing the two Phoenix-tailed Chickens might be possible.

"What is the weakness of the Phoenix-tailed Chicken?"

Huang Yu flipped through the *True Martial Continent Compendium* to the page about the Phoenix-tailed Chicken.

After some reading, Huang Yu discovered that the male Phoenix-tailed Chicken had a peculiar habit of eating Jade Sleep Worms. These worms lived on jade and were a bright green color, similar to the jade, and were often found in jade mines.
