In other zoos, I never noticed so many such scenes. Today, I even saw a pair of geese kissing by the lake. Haha, they were so shameless in public.
"Such is love~!" Li Shenxing heard a passerby exclaim beside him.
Seeing such an amusing scene, Hyo-ri and Li Shenxing turned their backs to the geese and took several selfies. Some were silly, some mimicked the geese kissing, and some were of them embracing. In short, they were showing off their affection everywhere, making single people envious. And when they passed by the lion area, a lion even posed for Hyo-ri as she took its photo. Haha, it was too funny.
By noon, Li Shenxing and Xiao Li arrived at the dining area in the park, where there were many food stalls, small restaurants, and cafes, with tables and chairs set up outdoors.
They found a spot to sit, and Li Shenxing asked Hyo-ri, looking at the menu on the table, "What do you want to eat? I'll go get it."
"I don't know what's good here. You can choose, Oppa." Hyo-ri flipped through the menu and handed it to Li Shenxing.
"Alright, let me take a look." Li Shenxing took the menu.
After deciding, Li Shenxing went to the food stall to queue up. He chose fish and chips, sausages and mashed potatoes, and a vegetable salad. The portions were large enough for both of them.
After lunch, they left the park and drove to Chester.
Chester, located in northwest England near the border with Wales, is crossed by the River Dee and an artificial canal, adding a rich cultural and historical atmosphere to the city. As one of the UK's famous cultural heritage cities, it has the only relatively intact city walls in England (4-12 meters high, 3.2 kilometers long), the 13th-century Dee Bridge, many medieval churches, and the magnificent Chester Cathedral. It also boasts Europe's largest zoo and is renowned for its historical and cultural significance, attracting over 6 million tourists annually.
After parking nearby, they walked to the cathedral. Buying tickets, they entered through the Norman arch. The cathedral, rather than being ornately decorated, exudes a rugged and weathered style, with Gothic columns and magnificent 14th-century wood carvings, showcasing the exceptional skills of craftsmen over the centuries.
The cathedral is vast. When Hyo-ri and Li Shenxing entered, a choir was singing. They sat down and listened quietly. On the uneven lawn outside the cathedral, people lounged or sat, enjoying the leisure. After listening to the choir, they climbed the tower, where they could see the entire city, a breathtaking view.
After enjoying the view from above, they went down to the cathedral's restaurant and bought two cups of coffee, then sat in the back garden to rest. The garden was beautiful, a perfect place to relax, with visitors often taking photos there.
"Kitty, where should we go next? Shall we stroll along the Rows?" Li Shenxing asked, looking at the Chester tourist map.
"Let's stroll along the Rows. There are many craft shops, and we can see if we can find anything good. Then we'll have dinner and head back." She checked the time and thought for a moment.
The Rows, radiating from the central crossroads, are two-story streets with Victorian and black-and-white Tudor-style buildings, housing various shops. Careful exploration reveals many ancient shops, such as thousand-year-old bars, vintage perfume stores, and classic tailor shops.
Along the streets, many street performers were performing. Hyo-ri and Li Shenxing stopped to listen to one, and after his performance, they gave him some loose change.
Women! They just love shopping. As they strolled, Li Shenxing ended up with several shopping bags.
For dinner, they went to Ristorante Sergio, a family-style Italian restaurant. The pizza here is made using traditional Italian methods and is quite good, worth trying. The highlight at Ristorante Sergio is the traditional Italian whole wheat bread, served with traditional Italian sauces, which are perfect for dipping. Before the meal, they enjoyed a refreshing salad and tomato soup, which were delicious. The pan-fried fish had no bones and was very flavorful, and the pasta was also delicious. For dessert, they had chocolate ice cream almond tart and tiramisu, both classic Italian treats.
"Oppa, the desserts here are so good." She was so happy eating that she didn't even notice the chocolate sauce on her lips.
After wiping it off for her, "If you want me to make them for you at home, just say so, little glutton." Li Shenxing said affectionately.
"Hehehe... Oppa is so smart, you guessed it right away." Hyo-ri flattered him with a smile.
"Hey! Hey! That's not the point, you know?" Li Shenxing could only sigh inwardly.
After a day of sightseeing, Hyo-ri and Li Shenxing drove back to Liverpool.
Since they returned early, Grandfather and Grandmother were still awake, so Li Shenxing went to the kitchen to prepare some fruit, and they all sat in the living room to chat. The elderly often can't help but tell stories to the younger generation, and both he and Hyo-ri felt that being with the elderly and listening to their stories was the greatest filial piety.
On the last day, Li Shenxing and Hyo-ri did not go out to sightsee or shop but spent the entire day with Grandfather and Grandmother, as they would be returning to Manchester the next day and then flying back to Korea.
In the morning, they went for a walk in the park with Grandfather and Grandmother, had lunch and dinner together, and chatted about their lives and the stories they had experienced after meals.
The next morning, after having breakfast with Grandfather and Grandmother, they left with their reluctant gazes.
In the car, Hyo-ri looked back at the two elderly people at the door, "Oppa, can we come back here again when we have time?"
"Of course, whenever we want to, they will be very happy to hear that." Li Shenxing comforted her.
After a few days, they returned to Manchester, with an afternoon to spare before their 9:30 PM flight back to Seoul.
First, they stored their three suitcases at the airport, then went to the city center to buy some gifts, such as Jack Daniel's Wines, fish liver oil, chocolate, and handmade soap.
In the evening, Li Shenxing and Hyo-ri boarded the plane. After takeoff, they asked the flight attendants for blankets and went to sleep.
Another long flight, and when they landed, Li Shenxing felt his bones were rusty.
Returning to Seoul, it was already the 12th, and they had been away for seven days. They left with two suitcases and returned with three, plus two full backpacks. They hailed a taxi at the airport and went home.
At home, after seven days of no one being there, the house felt dusty. They moved the luggage upstairs to the closet, and Hyo-ri began to sort through their purchases while Li Shenxing started cleaning with a vacuum. After Hyo-ri finished sorting the luggage, she also began cleaning the bedroom, removing the bed cover and wiping away the dust.
