Chapter 44: Barbecue! Barbecue!

After finishing the dessert, as we were about to leave, we saw a photographer with a DSLR camera talking to the boss. Li Shenxing overheard him negotiating about the shooting location, which might mean another Korean drama was coming to shoot here!

The number of tourists on Nodong Island was relatively small. They didn't encounter many people along the way, probably because this wasn't the best time to visit Nodong Island. It might be more popular in the summer, as the beach here is indeed very nice.

On the way, they passed several filming locations for movies or TV dramas, but neither of them got out to take photos. After all, our Hyori is a celebrity, so does she need to take photos with billboards?!

They saw quite a few small shops along the way. Hyori got out of the car to buy some local specialties, such as tangerines and boiled peanuts. The two of them ate and strolled along the way. Actually, there weren't many tourist attractions on Nodong Island. It was better in the summer when they could play in the water at the beach. Now, the weather was still cold, so... there was nothing much to do.

Since they weren't hungry, they didn't buy any seafood from the roadside stalls. Instead, they stopped at a pile of stones by the roadside and built a stone stack for good luck. After visiting half of the island and enjoying the scenery, they felt that continuing would be boring, so they decided to head back to the pier.

When they returned to the pier, they asked the staff and learned that the ferry had just left, and the next one would arrive in 40 minutes.

"Should we wait here, or go for a walk and climb Nodong Peak?"

"The wind is too strong; I don't want to go up. Let's go to the café we saw earlier and wait there."

"Okay, whatever you want." Li Shenxing pinched her upturned nose, a doting smile on his face.

After taking the ferry back to Jeju Island, they took a bus back to the long-distance bus station. Upon arrival, Li Shenxing and Hyori didn't go home but instead went to a famous black pork restaurant nearby. They had already told her grandmother that they would be eating out for dinner today.

Although they had eaten spicy stir-fried black pork today, they were now going to have grilled black pork.

"How do we get to the famous Black Pig House?" Hyori asked as they walked out of the station.

"It's a bit far from the station. We'll walk to the left for about ten minutes," Li Shenxing said, pulling Hyori along as they walked.

When it comes to Jeju Island's cuisine, black pork is the top choice! The "Black Pig House Jeju Main Store" in New Jeju, which opened in 2006, has always adhered to the concept of "providing VIP treatment" and strictly controls the quality of ingredients and flavors. Using authentic Jeju black pork, they grill it over charcoal, resulting in meat that is rich in juice and has a chewy texture. It has become a representative Korean restaurant on Jeju Island and is listed among the "170 Korean Food Restaurants" selected by the Korea Tourism Organization.

Jeju black pork is three times more expensive than regular pork and even more expensive than the highly regarded Korean beef. The reason is the rarity, as only 70,000 heads of Jeju black pork are produced annually. These pigs are naturally raised in the foothills of Hallasan Mountain, where the average temperature is 16°C. They are fed with clean food like Jeju tangerines and radishes, so they lack the distinctive odor of regular pork. The fat is not greasy, and the meat is very tender and juicy.

After about ten minutes, they quickly arrived at the "Black Pig House" barbecue restaurant.

The Black Pig House is a certified black pork restaurant by the Jeju Island governor, ensuring reliable and trustworthy ingredients. After the black pigs are slaughtered, the meat is vacuum-packed and frozen for three days. The key to keeping the meat juicy is to cut patterns on the pork belly and neck meat. After that, it is naturally marinated for three days. A week later, when the meat is at its freshest and the pork flavor is at its best, it is served to the customers. The grilled black pork is dipped in the Black Pig House's special anchovy sauce, creating a delicious explosion of flavors in the mouth as the sea and mountain flavors blend together.

When Hyori and Li Shenxing entered the restaurant, they found it spacious. Although it wasn't mealtime, there were still many customers.

A young waiter led them to an empty table, and Li Shenxing picked up the menu to look through it.

"Two servings of your signature grilled fresh black pork, two servings of grilled marinated pork, and a bottle of makgeolli rice wine. That's all," Li Shenxing said to the waiter.

"Sure, please wait a moment." The waiter wrote down the order and headed to the kitchen.

The grilled fresh black pork is a popular dish at the restaurant. Seeing the thick, marbled pork belly, along with potatoes, mushrooms, and pork skin, the anchovy sauce must be pre-grilled on a copper grid. When the pork belly sizzles and becomes crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the anchovy sauce starts to bubble. At this point, the grilled pork dipped in the anchovy sauce is placed in the mouth, where the anchovy sauce's freshness neutralizes the pork's greasiness, and the fresh sea flavor and wild mountain flavor blend together, creating a perfect balance of aroma and saltiness, making it irresistible.

The grilled marinated pork is another signature dish of the restaurant. A chef with 30 years of cooking experience uses a special marinade made from 30 ingredients, including pork bone broth, licorice, and jujubes, to marinate the black pork. The flavor is rich and delicious, making it very popular among Chinese tourists.

After a short wait, the waiter pushed a cart full of dishes to their table, arranged the dishes, placed the charcoal and grill, and pulled down the smoke hood.

After the waiter left, Li Shenxing placed both types of grilled pork, along with the accompanying potato slices, mushrooms, onions, and pork skin, on the grill.

The meat had just been placed on the grill and wasn't cooked yet, but Hyori couldn't wait and reached for the side dishes on the table.

"Mmm! The side dishes here are also very tasty, with a unique flavor," Hyori said, somewhat surprised.

"These side dishes are homemade by the restaurant, with special ingredients added, so they taste different from what we usually eat," Li Shenxing explained while flipping the meat.

"Oh, so it's a secret recipe..."

At that moment, Hyori's phone rang.

She took her phone out of her bag and said to Li Shenxing, "It's a call from Miya Onee-san." She then answered the call.

"Annyeonghaseyo, Onee-san, what's up?"

"Hyori, Samsung has issued a public apology, but the company won't forgive them just like that. We've decided to sue them. However, the impact on you online has already subsided. Your vacation is almost over, so come back tomorrow."

"Ah... I haven't had enough fun yet, Onee-san!" Hyori said, somewhat unwillingly.

"Still thinking about playing? The album needs to be completed faster. You've already delayed for several days. When you come back, you'll have to work overtime to catch up."

"Ara, ara, Onee-san, can't you let me enjoy my last night?"

"Okay, okay, no more talk. I'm busy. Just remember to bring me some chocolate from Jeju Island when you come back, or you're dead."

"Ara, I'll remember. But I'm eating grilled black pork right now, Onee-san. Do you want some?" Hyori brought the phone close to the grill.

Hearing the sizzling sound of the grilled meat through the phone, Miya couldn't help but swallow her saliva and then shouted, "Hey! Hey! Hey! You, Hyori, how can you treat your Onee-san like this? Do you want to die? I'm on a diet!"

"Hehehe..." Hearing the angry shout, Hyori laughed. Who made you ruin my perfect vacation?!

"Alright, alright, no more joking. I have to get back to work. Just remember to bring me a gift, or you're dead." With that, she hung up the phone.
