Chapter 72: Preparing Food and Supplies

Li Shenxing came to the kitchen, first went to the dining room to turn on the stereo, and selected a country song he liked to play on repeat, "Tonight I Wanna Cry" by Keith Urban.

"Alone in this house again tonight—I got the TV on, the sound turned down, and a bottle of wine—There are pictures of you and I on the walls around me—The way that it was and could have been surrounds me..."

While listening to the music, he started cooking the buckwheat noodles. Buckwheat noodles are best when they have a chewy texture, so don't cook them for too long. After the water boils, cook them for 2-3 minutes, then pour them into a colander and rinse with cold water a few times. Finally, place them in a large bowl with ice to chill.

Next, he boiled some eggs, peeled a pear, and shredded a cucumber. He also took out some kimchi and cut it into strips to use later. After chilling the buckwheat noodles, he drained them and divided them into two bowls. He then arranged the cucumber strips, pear strips, kimchi strips, beef slices, and halved boiled eggs on top. He didn't pour the chilled beef broth over them yet, saving that for when they were ready to eat.

After setting the cold noodles on the dining table, he prepared some cold beef slices.

He cut scallions and cucumbers into strips and placed them in a large bowl with the beef slices. He added chili oil, sesame seeds, minced garlic, soy sauce, aged vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and sugar, then mixed everything together. [Koreans rarely eat cilantro because they can't stand the taste, but I like to add it to cold dishes.]

After taking a bath, Hyo-ri heard music coming from downstairs and knew Li Shenxing had returned. She took off her bathrobe, put on some underwear, and slipped into one of Li Shenxing's short-sleeved T-shirts before going downstairs.

Li Shenxing was humming a song and mixing the dish when a pair of arms circled his waist, hugging him. Soft, full breasts pressed against his back.

Without stopping his hands, he asked softly, "Are you hungry? I made your favorite cold noodles for dinner."

"A little hungry. I didn't eat much for lunch. By the way, where are the little fat cats?"

He had just sent them to the café, so they wouldn't be left alone for two days. "I sent the cats to the café earlier. Otherwise, no one would take care of them. It's for the best; they're all grown up and it's time for them to find partners."

"Yeah~ The cats are too picky. They don't like Go, Prince, or the little fat ones."

Li Shenxing turned and kissed Hyo-ri on the lips. "Let's not worry about that now. Let's have dinner."

He took the chilled beef broth from the fridge and joined Hyo-ri at the dining table.

"Wow~! I love the cold noodles you make in the summer. They look so appetizing ^_^"

He poured the cold broth over the noodles. "There you go! Eat some beef first before the cold noodles, so your stomach doesn't get upset."

Hyo-ri obediently followed Li Shenxing's advice and ate some cold beef to settle her stomach. "Delicious, so refreshing, and the more I chew, the better it tastes," she said as she ate.

"Take your time. By the way, have you packed for tomorrow?"

"Not yet. What clothes should I bring?"

"Bring a few sets of clothes, preferably cotton. Bring a few sets of underwear too, in case we get wet or have any accidents. Also, bring sunscreen and a hat, as we'll be working outdoors. And don't forget to bring some flip-flops for the shower."

"What time should we get up tomorrow? Is it far?"

"I checked online; it's about a four-hour drive. It's a remote village, so we need to go to the supermarket to prepare some food for the trip. We can eat it when it's hot, and we should also bring some bread for the road. We might not be able to eat on time during filming. I forgot to buy it earlier."

"Aww~ I just took a bath and changed clothes. I don't want to go out," Hyo-ri pouted.

He gave her a piece of beef. "Think of it as a walk. Do you want me to go to the supermarket alone? That would be so sad~" Li Shenxing frowned and pouted, looking pitiful.

"Alright, alright, I'll go with you," she said, taking the beef and looking at him fiercely.

But to Li Shenxing, she looked even cuter this way.

After dinner, they washed the dishes together, then changed into matching couple T-shirts and baseball caps before going downstairs to drive to the supermarket.

In the supermarket, Li Shenxing pushed the cart and asked Hyo-ri, "Is there anything you want to buy?"

"Ah~! I want to buy everything when I come to the supermarket!" Hyo-ri said excitedly, skipping along beside him.

"Hmm~ I can agree to anything except alcohol and junk food," Li Shenxing said, glancing at her.

"Ara so~ Ara so~!" Hyo-ri pouted, thinking about eating chips and drinking beer while watching TV.

As they passed the clothing section, Hyo-ri saw the pajamas she had liked on a previous visit and ran over to them. She held them up and asked Li Shenxing, "Do you think they look good? I wanted to buy them when I came with Ji-hye, but she said they were too childish and wouldn't let me."

Li Shenxing smiled gently. "If you like them, buy them. They're cute and suit you."

Hyo-ri happily kissed him on the cheek, picked a size, and put it in the cart. [Despite her queen-like appearance and aura, many aspects of her reveal a girlish heart?]

In the snack section, Li Shenxing picked out some soda crackers, compressed biscuits, and chocolate, all of which are quick energy boosters. Hyo-ri, on the other hand, chose some sweet potato chips, raisins, almonds, and other dried fruits, as most girls love snacks.

They also bought some whole wheat bread, mochi bread, Hokkaido toast, and waterless cake from the bakery. Hyo-ri picked out some cream-filled bread in various flavors, as well as sponge cake and cupcake.

After buying the bread, they also picked out some fruits like apples, strawberries, and pears that Hyo-ri likes. How can a girl live without fruits~!

After buying everything, they checked out and drove home with their shopping bags.

Back home, they packed the items they needed to bring and placed them on the dining table, making sure nothing was forgotten. Then they went upstairs to pack their luggage.

Since there was a river in the village where they could go fishing, Li Shenxing also packed some fishing gear. After packing the necessary items and clothes, he placed the backpack at the foot of the stairs. Seeing that Hyo-ri still needed some time, he went to take a bath.

However, he didn't rush through his bath as usual. He took a long soak to help him fall asleep faster, as they had to wake up early and drive for a long time the next day.

While he was enjoying his bath, Hyo-ri came in. "I wondered why you were taking so long. You were soaking in the bath," she said, picking up a toothbrush and squeezing toothpaste onto it.

Li Shenxing looked at her and asked, "Are you done packing? Did you forget anything?"

She sat down by the bathtub, brushing her teeth, and mumbled, "I checked, and I didn't forget anything."

"That's good. Let's go to bed early tonight and leave early tomorrow."

Li Shenxing got out of the bath, dried off, and went to bed with Hyo-ri, who had finished brushing her teeth. Before sleeping, Li Shenxing used the remote to turn on the silent fan. The weather in June was already getting warm at night, so he set the fan to sleep mode and held Hyo-ri as they fell asleep.
