Chapter 9

The three-eyed magic wolf once again swung its strong front claws, aiming at a hunter mage who was clearly cornered. If hit by this strike, blood would surely spatter!

"Water Defense · Triple Chain!!"

One, two, three walls of water appeared in front of the hunter mage. The three-eyed magic wolf's strike did not directly shatter the water walls, giving the mage time to quickly run back to the group.

At the same time, the remaining mages all looked at Ye Zhenghong. They had not expected this young man to be a mage, and for his water-elementary magic to temporarily resist the attack of a war general-level magic wolf. This completely overturned their understanding of magic!

"Don't lose focus, you guys cover me, watch me take down this guy!!" Ye Zhenghong glared at the three-eyed magic wolf and said to the hunter mages.

The hunter mages felt as if they hadn't woken up today. A young man like this saying he would kill a war general-level three-eyed magic wolf? Wasn't this a fairy tale? Even if his cultivation was high, elementary magic could not harm a war general-level demon. This was a fact everyone knew. But then they saw purple starlight flashing around the young man, and the endless madness of the purple starlight slowly began to draw a star map!!

A mid-rank mage! And a mid-rank lightning-element mage!! More importantly, how old was this young man? No wonder he dared to say he would kill the three-eyed magic wolf. The power of the lightning element, as the leader of the elements, was absolutely unmatched!

The group immediately dispersed. The earth-element mage cast a ground wave on the street, slowing down the three-eyed magic wolf's speed, though the effect was minimal. Another fire-element mage also cast a fire surge at the three-eyed magic wolf, not to hurt it but to slow it down...

"Thunder · Sky Strike!!"

Finally, the star map glowing with purple light was completed. Strange thunderclouds appeared in the sky, and the murky rain seemed to be driven away by the madness of the lightning elements! In front of him, a massive purple thunderbolt suddenly struck down from the thunderclouds! The thunderbolt, like a dragon, fell fiercely, and the destructive aura fiercely poured down. Even before it fully landed, the ground was already cracked in large patches!

The thunderbolt directly struck the three-eyed magic wolf, its entire body paralyzed by the lightning. A shocking wound appeared on its back. The lightning element, as the leader of the elements, was indeed powerful. This allowed Ye Zhenghong, who had just entered the mid-rank, to injure the war general-level magic wolf!

The magic wolves' greatest strength was their recovery ability, not just in healing but also in the rapid healing of wounds during battle. The mid-rank lightning-element magic was strong, but it could not kill the three-eyed magic wolf in one strike. The three-eyed magic wolf probably realized that one of the humans was a tough opponent. It roared to the sky, calling for its companions to surround the humans. The roar could be heard for several blocks.

"Trouble, it's calling for help! We must retreat, or we'll be surrounded by countless one-eyed magic wolves. If we're unlucky and there are more three-eyed magic wolves around, we'll all be trapped here!" the captain of the hunter team said.

A war general-level demon was a powerful existence even in the mid-rank realm, let alone with only one mid-rank mage, Ye Zhenghong. Taking advantage of the three-eyed magic wolf's paralysis, it was best to retreat quickly.

Ye Zhenghong looked at the three-eyed magic wolf roaring in the distance. War general-level demons were indeed formidable. Due to his family's physique, his control over elements was top-notch! After being refined by three elements, his lightning power was at least 1.5 times stronger than ordinary lightning, approaching the spirit-level lightning. Yet, he only managed to injure it. To kill it, he would need to use the mid-rank thunderbolt two to three more times, but his lightning power had only broken through to mid-rank a month ago, and his magic energy could not support it.

He did not force it. The captain was right; if they didn't leave now, they would definitely be trapped by countless demons. He also noticed that not only one-eyed magic wolves but even the timid giant-eyed stinky rats in the city were taking the opportunity to cause chaos. The one-eyed magic wolves that had breached the military's defenses and entered the city were probably only about a thousand, distributed across various blocks. But the number of these native creatures that had been hiding in the city was much greater!

Ye Zhenghong was heading to the Silver Trade Tower, which was in the center of the commercial street. The hunter team was heading to the safety barrier. They parted ways at a corner of the block.

"Captain, when did Bocheng have such a young mid-rank mage? I've never heard of it..."

"Probably not from Bocheng. He must have come here by chance... Sigh, I hope such a magical genius doesn't fall. At such a young age, he has already reached the mid-rank. He will likely become a high-rank mage sooner or later..." the captain sighed.

"High-rank mage..."

In their small place, a mid-rank mage was already a revered figure, let alone a high-rank mage. Even in the entire Bocheng, there was only one, Zankong from the military.

...

Crossing another street, due to the wind track, the few one-eyed magic wolves they encountered did not notice Ye Zhenghong passing by. However, the road ahead was a problem.

The towering shadow of the Silver Trade Tower was already visible in the distance, but there were no fewer than ten one-eyed magic wolves and several giant-eyed stinky rats wandering on this commercial street. It was impossible to sneak past so many demons, and the street was not very wide... Well, let's take a chance. As long as there isn't a war general-level three-eyed magic wolf nearby, it should be fine!

Ye Zhenghong transformed into a whirlwind again. A few one-eyed magic wolves noticed him and chased after him, but their speed was clearly not fast enough to catch up with Ye Zhenghong's level three wind track... The Silver Trade Tower was already very close. Ye Zhenghong turned back and looked at the few one-eyed magic wolves and giant-eyed stinky rats chasing him, a slight smile appearing on his lips. Blue starlight flashed around him again.

To deal with a war general-level three-eyed magic wolf, of course, he would use the mid-rank lightning bolt for a single-target kill. But for these small fry, a large-area water-element mid-rank spell was more practical! The speed of the star link was not slow, and the star tracks appeared even faster than the lightning-element drawing.

"Have a drink! Torrent!!"

A massive wave, like a breached dam, appeared in the air and struck the few one-eyed magic wolves. The wave hit the ground and instantly turned into a flood, filling the entire block! The nearby rows of low-rise buildings trembled from the impact, but fortunately, they were far enough away. Otherwise, these small buildings might have collapsed from the wave.

Ye Zhenghong exhaled a deep breath. Mid-rank magic still consumed too much magic energy. This torrent drained nearly a third of his water-element star cloud's magic energy. His elemental physique was enhanced in all aspects, whether in physical strength, magic energy consumption, or magic power.

Indeed, the star cloud needed to be reinforced. A mage without enough magic energy isn't a mage... that's a warrior.

Blood flowed from the entrance of the Silver Trade Tower, but the door was tightly closed. Probably, giant-eyed stinky rats had appeared inside the tower. Otherwise, these not-so-intelligent demons wouldn't know to close the door after entering.

Pushing open the door, he found not many bodies inside. They were either eaten clean or dragged away. Only a few scattered people remained...

"Bang!"

A figure flew out of the closed safety exit, crashing into a stone pillar not far from Ye Zhenghong, leaving many cracks on it. It was unclear what had thrown him out!
