Outside the jammed door, a burst of gunfire rang out. Zheng Chen furrowed his brows slightly, wondering if there were firearms involved.
"Quick, get up there!" After signaling Lei and the others to run to the small flying boat, Zheng Chen followed and entered, quickly surveying the control panel. Although it was different from the one he had trained with, it wasn't too different, and the extra parts had been explained by Baguert.
Without needing much practice, Zheng Chen flew out directly from the exit created by the patterns. At this moment, the people outside rushed in and saw this scene.
"Damn! How did he do that!?"
They were speechless, looking at the strange large hole in the cabin. Should they chase him?
"We misjudged! Don't chase him, quickly go and patch up that hole, and don't let this leak out!"
The leader immediately said, this couldn't be known by other smugglers; the commotion was too big to hide. Even so, losing a vehicle was enough to make them feel the pain; it was quite expensive.
"Was it that simple?" After detaching from the transport ship, Lei asked curiously.
Zheng Chen nodded. What else could be difficult? They were so well-prepared; if there were any more setbacks, he would have to carefully consider whether he was under some kind of curse that made everything go wrong.
Looking at the thick cloud layers around, Zheng Chen frowned slightly. Flying in such an environment was quite unsafe. However, he didn't know where he would end up if he kept flying, but he would eventually find some cities.
There was no need to worry about the energy supply. The refined flying stones that Zheng Chen had further refined and stored in the patterns, although in powder form, were still usable by the flying boat.
And the powdered refined flying stones were even more effective!
There was no need to worry about the flight time for now.
"Rest now." Zheng Chen said calmly, as he needed to concentrate extra while flying through the clouds. Lei nodded gently, closing her eyes in Xie Ya's arms. Xie Ya, however, smiled at Zheng Chen.
"I'm not sleepy. Hmm? Where are we going?"
"Traveling."
Zheng Chen said without changing his expression. It was normal for Xie Ya to say she wasn't tired; since he brought her to Dr. Hyde's clinic and regained his mobility, he hadn't seen her sleep!
Unfortunately, Zheng Chen couldn't see Xie Ya's 'attributes,' but it was easy to confirm that her physical attributes were beyond imagination.
"It's a trip, huh?" Xie Ya nodded gently, as if she had just learned about it. Zheng Chen wasn't surprised; he had said the same thing to her a few days ago, and her memory occasionally had these reset-like changes, "But is it really good to fly without seeing anything?"
"...I'm lowering the altitude." Zheng Chen slowly pressed down the control stick, and the small flying boat gradually descended, "Is something wrong?"
Xie Ya's fingers gently twirled a strand of Lei's hair, staring in a certain direction outside the flying boat, "There, there's a presence with strong vitality..."
Xie Ya said somewhat confusedly, with the vines on her body becoming restless.
"Human?"
She shook her head, "No, a plant."
Her Holy War Angel attribute allowed her to animate plants, so she could sense their state.
"A plant?" Zheng Chen was silent. A plant in the sky that made Xie Ya feel uneasy?
"Can we go and see?" Xie Ya suddenly said, "Since it's a trip, we shouldn't miss out on anything special, right?"
For a moment, Zheng Chen felt that Xie Ya might have already recovered and was just pretending.
"Speaking of which, we haven't gone out since we visited the Edel Garden, Kis..."
After a while, without getting a response from Zheng Chen, Xie Ya suddenly muttered in a low, gloomy voice.
"I'm not Kis." Zheng Chen's fingers moved slightly, and a piece of metal emerged from the pattern on his little finger, quickly shaping into a syringe.
The gloomy Xie Ya then lifted her head, tilting it in confusion as she looked at Zheng Chen, gently pressing her chest, "Kis... who is he? It sounds familiar, I seem to hate him... and love him."
"You haven't hated anyone or loved anyone." A strong suppressant slowly flowed into the syringe.
"Ah? How can you say that? I really like Lei!" The gloomy expression completely faded from Xie Ya's face, and she gently stroked Lei's face with a very gentle look, "Lei used to be bullied a lot, but now she's grown so much and found someone to take care of her."
The strong suppressant in the syringe was reabsorbed by the pattern, and the syringe turned back into a metal ball, disappearing from his little finger.
"Let's go and see." The flying boat had plenty of fuel to support a long flight, so they could take a detour to check it out.
Glancing at the now normal Xie Ya, Zheng Chen changed direction and flew toward the direction she had pointed. What kind of plant could be at such a high altitude?
"Getting closer... it's such a gentle presence." As they approached the direction Xie Ya pointed, she felt increasingly relaxed, but Zheng Chen didn't let his guard down. Xie Ya wasn't a normal existence, so what she felt normal was usually not safe.
Not only that, but Zheng Chen also felt something was wrong. The flying boat started to shake, as if something was pulling it. After passing through a thick layer of clouds, the pulling force suddenly increased!
The propellers on the wings of the flying boat slowed down in the strong airflow, and a massive tornado appeared before them, looking like a vast cloud mountain. The surrounding clouds were torn apart and sucked into the tornado!
There were even places where lightning could be seen!
"We can't see it." Zheng Chen said, immediately changing the flight direction.
Xie Ya pouted in disappointment, "Ah? We're already here, I can feel it's inside... this thing is so annoying."
Seeing Zheng Chen's unyielding expression, she stuck out her tongue, and the restless vines on her body calmed down. The massive tornado in front of them was a deadly place; getting sucked in was easy, just a matter of rushing forward!
But whether they could get out was another question. Even Xie Ya was wary of this massive, condensed tornado.
However, there was a way to enter. Lei's attribute was wind-based, and if they formed a bond, the threat from the tornado could be greatly reduced. But... why do this for no reason?
Compared to the tornado that could be considered a forbidden zone, Xie Ya's actions were even more concerning. Recalling her former ferocity and comparing it to her current cute appearance, it was quite contradictory.
Maintaining this state was better than revealing her ferocious predator nature.
After bypassing the tornado, Zheng Chen continued flying. As he lowered the altitude and passed through the lower part of the cloud layer, the ocean below was exposed. It seemed they couldn't stay here.
Continuing to drive the flying boat, the size of the ocean was unknown. Although the flying boat was fast, flying like this for a long time wasn't suitable. During the journey, Zheng Chen didn't speak, and Xie Ya looked around the environment outside the window, her eyes flickering with thoughts.
Fortunately, the direction Zheng Chen chose was good. By midnight, they saw land, and he even spotted a passenger ship. This ship was completely different from the flying boats he had seen before, confirming that they were no longer on the previous continent.
They were in another unknown area.
Lowering the flight speed, Zheng Chen followed behind the passenger ship. If everything went as expected, the ship would fly to a city, and then they could look for a ship to the outer regions.
His goal was to return to Linxi Village... the village where he initially stayed. Dr. Ping Shizhi was a skilled doctor, and while he might not be able to completely cure Zheng Chen's condition, he could find some ways to alleviate it.
As Dr. Hyde said, relying on strong suppressants for a long time had a significant impact on his body.
Long-term use was not a viable solution.
However, things were never that smooth. Zheng Chen raised his eyebrows slightly, a hint of surprise showing on his calm face as some strange flying machines with wings like dragonflies quickly approached the passenger ship he was following.
These were air pirates!?
Although their target wasn't him, why were there always so many unexpected events?
Slightly lowering the altitude, Zheng Chen flew as close to the bottom of the passenger ship as possible to avoid being discovered. These air pirates were here to rob something; they couldn't possibly take over the ship, so Zheng Chen planned to observe the situation. Once their goal was achieved or failed, the ship would likely continue its journey.
However, not long after, Zheng Chen saw a girl in a dress fall from the passenger ship... was she thrown or did she jump?
Zheng Chen didn't know the situation and originally planned to ignore it. Xie Ya, who had been staring out the window, turned around, looking at the unmoving Zheng Chen with some confusion, "If that girl falls like that, she will definitely die, right?"
"Uh-huh." After a pause, Zheng Chen changed direction and quickly flew down. He initially planned to ignore it, but since Xie Ya saw it, he decided to help. To keep her in her current stable state, it was better for her to face positive things rather than negative ones.
