As soon as the school bell rang, Ding Hao, as usual, was one of the first to leave the school gate. Yu Feng and his group followed closely behind. Unlike usual, the class study committee member, Xia Lin, did not stay behind to do her homework but instead left the school gate first and ran to catch up with Ding Hao.
"Ding Hao, pay up your debt!" Not far from the school gate, just as they had avoided the school security's sight, before Xia Lin could even speak to Ding Hao, Yu Feng and four classmates surrounded Ding Hao in the middle.
"Yu Feng, if you bully Ding Hao again, I'll call Ms. Huang." Xia Lin looked at Ding Hao nervously. Ding Hao remained silent, so she had to threaten Yu Feng with the teacher again, hoping they would let Ding Hao go, but she was clearly too naive.
"Go ahead and call, don't always try to scare me with the teacher. Ding Hao owes me money, and even if we go to the principal, he still has to pay." Seeing Xia Lin use the same old trick, Yu Feng angrily retorted.
Seeing that verbal threats were useless, Xia Lin really took out her phone and started to dial. The day before, when she had left a bit later, Ding Hao had been beaten until blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. She didn't want Ding Hao to get hurt again today, so she wanted to notify the teacher before Yu Feng could act. She didn't expect to stop Yu Feng, but at least she hoped Ding Hao would suffer less.
"Damn, you really don't know when to back off." Seeing Xia Lin take out her phone to call, Yu Feng was furious. He abandoned Ding Hao and ran over to snatch Xia Lin's phone.
"Give it back, give me my phone back!" Xia Lin was caught off guard and hadn't even managed to make the call before the phone was in Yu Feng's hands.
"Give it back? This old phone!" Yu Feng glanced at Xia Lin and casually threw the phone. With a loud crack, the phone shattered into countless pieces.
This sudden turn of events did not stop Yu Feng and his group from demanding money from Ding Hao. Ding Hao had been calmly watching Yu Feng and his gang, but when he saw Yu Feng throw Xia Lin's phone and saw her tears of委屈 (grievance) streaming down her face, he lost his composure. He could endure Yu Feng bullying him, but why bully a girl?
"Damn, you want money, right?" Ding Hao was enraged. He would rather be beaten himself than see Xia Lin suffer because she was helping him. Before Yu Feng could get close, Ding Hao pushed the four classmates surrounding him and kicked Yu Feng.
The kick hit its mark, and Yu Feng stumbled and fell to the ground, his eyes wide with disbelief as he looked at Ding Hao and his four followers. The followers were also stunned. How could Ding Hao have so much strength? Although Yu Feng was not very tall, he often fought outside school and should have had good reflexes.
Even Xia Lin, who was grieving over her broken phone, was shocked by the sudden turn of events. She had thought Yu Feng would run over and beat Ding Hao severely, but now, what was happening? Why was Yu Feng sitting on the ground? It was normal, though. Although Yu Feng and his group looked like adult men, they were still young and lacked strength. Ding Hao's strength was 124, while Yu Feng and his classmates could only manage around 80, and the thinner ones might not even reach 80!
This was a 40-50% difference in strength, and Ding Hao's speed was also much faster than average. Most importantly, they never expected Ding Hao to fight back, and especially not to be so enraged and take the initiative. So, naturally, Yu Feng and his group suffered. Ding Hao did not stop there.
He bent down to where Yu Feng had fallen, pulled him up, and threw him over his shoulder with a slam! Yu Feng fell to the ground again, wincing in pain and shouting at his followers, "Are you all dead? Why aren't you helping?"
The four followers suddenly realized what was happening and scrambled to help. Two of them supported Yu Feng, while the other two rushed at Ding Hao.
"I'll teach you to be his lackeys and help him bully others..." Ding Hao gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. Before the two could reach him, he knocked them down and kicked them in the buttocks, then ran back to Yu Feng.
"You... you..."
"What do you mean, 'you'? When did I ever owe you money? I never asked for protection money, and I never will..." While muttering, Ding Hao's hands did not stop. The two followers, who were supporting Yu Feng, inadvertently helped Ding Hao by holding Yu Feng steady, allowing him to beat Yu Feng mercilessly.
"Ouch, ouch... I'm sorry... You don't owe me money..."
It was just after school, and many students and even some teachers were coming out of the school. Everyone thought the unlucky one would be bullied by Yu Feng again, but when they saw Yu Feng being beaten, they were all surprised.
And the one beating him was the usually mild-mannered Ding Hao. It was truly a case of a rabbit biting when cornered. Everyone was puzzled, though. Yu Feng's group had four or five people, so how could Yu Feng end up with a bruised and swollen face while Ding Hao was unharmed?
"Ding Hao, that's enough." Xia Lin saw how fierce Ding Hao was today. Not only was Yu Feng sitting on the ground, but the other two followers were also holding their faces, and the remaining two were being chased by Ding Hao.
"You, Yu Feng, for Xia Lin's sake, I'll let you off today. Don't mess with me again, or I'll make sure you regret it!" Perhaps because there were too many people and he was worried about the impact, or perhaps because of Xia Lin's reminder, Ding Hao, though not fully satisfied, stopped when one of the followers fell while trying to escape. After all, they were classmates, not monsters to fight to the death, and his body couldn't take much more.
"..." Yu Feng was indeed beaten badly. Seeing Ding Hao's fierce expression, he felt guilty. How could this guy be so strong? Had he been holding back all this time? A wise man doesn't fight a losing battle. Although Yu Feng was in pain and had lost face in front of so many classmates, he did not argue back when Ding Hao warned him.
"Xia Lin's phone was broken by you, you lunatic. Bring a new one tomorrow!" Before leaving, Ding Hao didn't forget to settle the score with Yu Feng.
"Forget it, forget it, that phone wasn't worth much." Xia Lin, fearing another conflict between Ding Hao and Yu Feng, pulled him away.
Some of the onlookers frowned, some were curious, but most were cheering. Yu Feng usually acted arrogantly in school, and many students had suffered at his hands. Seeing him beaten so badly today was a real treat.
The teachers, who had initially wanted to intervene, stopped when they saw Yu Feng being beaten and pretended not to notice, joining the students in watching the spectacle. They wanted Yu Feng to learn a lesson.
In the crowd, one person stood with his mouth open, watching Ding Hao and Xia Lin's backs as they walked away. It was Ding Hao's desk mate, Su Jin. Although Su Jin and Ding Hao were good friends, he was very honest and did not dare to offend Yu Feng for Ding Hao's sake. So after school today, he had been following Ding Hao from a distance, afraid that Ding Hao would be beaten by Yu Feng and his group.
He never expected this outcome. Wasn't Yu Feng quite ruthless? They were five people! How did Ding Hao manage this? Ding Hao had walked for a long time, and Yu Feng still hadn't gotten up from the ground, which was unimaginable in the past. No wonder he was so tough in the afternoon, buying buns for the dog instead of giving them to Yu Feng! This was really cool, Ding Hao, I admire you so much!
After a long time, in the shock and laughter of the students, the followers helped Yu Feng up from the ground. Yu Feng was bruised and swollen, though not bleeding, but he was in intense pain. Clearly, Ding Hao was very skilled at beating people; it looked not too serious on the surface, but it was almost bone-breaking.
"Brother Feng, are you okay?" one of the four-eyed followers asked.
"Damn, that bastard hit so hard, how could I be okay? Brother Feng, let's go to the hospital?" another asked.
"Brother Feng..."
Yu Feng sat by the roadside, recalling everything that had happened, every punch, every kick. It was unbelievable. How could this guy suddenly become so strong? Without help, he couldn't rely on just these few people at school to get back at Ding Hao.
Hmm, I'll have to ask Wei Ge for help. No matter how much it costs, I have to get him to act. Yu Feng looked at his four useless followers and touched his burning face, feeling very depressed...
"Ding Hao, aren't you afraid they'll take revenge for beating Yu Feng?"
"Of course I'm afraid, but a cornered rabbit will bite. They've bullied me enough in the past. Besides, you were just trying to help, why did he throw your phone?"
"That phone isn't worth much." Xia Lin was delighted to hear this, thinking, "Silly boy, so you were angry for my sake."
"Even if it's not worth much, it's still not right. If he dares to bully you again, I'll deal with him!"
"How did you suddenly become so strong?"
"From carrying bricks every day, it's a form of exercise..."
"Liar."
"I'm not lying. Look at these muscles, they're all from carrying bricks. Yu Feng and his gang just rely on numbers, but they don't have much strength. Beating them is much easier than carrying bricks."
"Since you missed class yesterday, I'll tutor you tonight."
"Thank you, Xia Lin." Although they pretended not to be close at school, once they were at home, Xia Lin didn't keep her distance. She had tutored Ding Hao many times when he skipped class, and although it didn't help much, Ding Hao was genuinely grateful to Xia Lin.
Back at home, Ding Hao quickly prepared dinner and then took out the study materials he had bought from Xinhua Bookstore the day before. Soon, Xia Lin arrived. Seeing how serious Ding Hao was, she smiled.
"Wow, how did you get this set of materials? The homeroom teacher recommended it to me, but I couldn't afford it."
"Is this set of materials really that good?" Ding Hao had just seen it in a prominent position and bought it because it was a bit expensive, but he didn't expect Xia Lin to like it so much.
"Yes."
"Then you can take it. My grades are average, so it won't be much use to me." Ding Hao collected the entire set and handed it to Xia Lin.
"How can I take it?"
"Why not? You've helped me a lot. Once you learn something, you can teach me."
"This..." Xia Lin had heard the homeroom teacher recommend this set of materials, which were compiled by top teachers in the province and summarized the key points of the college entrance exam. The practice questions were also very representative. The entire set cost over 300 yuan, so Xia Lin hadn't bought it. Now, seeing it with Ding Hao, she was a bit reluctant.
"Take it, I'll buy another set this weekend!"
"Ah? This... where did you get so much money?"
