"How's the situation?" Qin Chuan asked the 120 doctor as soon as the ambulance stopped and the door opened.

"Not good. The victim was blinded by the headlights of an oncoming car and crashed directly into the storefront. The airbag didn't deploy in time, and his head hit the steering wheel. Fortunately, he was wearing a seatbelt, or he would have been thrown out. The speed was probably quite fast. He has already lost consciousness. We performed CPR and restored his heartbeat, but his breathing is weak. His reaction to light is delayed. It's best to do a brain CT immediately to see if there is any brain damage," the doctor said.

"Ah, I understand," Qin Chuan said.

"I'll leave him in your hands," the 120 doctor said.

The 120 medical staff handled the situation quite properly. However, from Qin Chuan's perspective, there were still some areas for improvement. But it couldn't be helped; the conditions on the ambulance were limited. After the initial treatment, further handling would be required at the hospital.

"Doctor Qin, should we send him for a CT scan now?" Fang Ping asked.

"Not yet. The patient's vital signs are not stable. Let's stabilize them first. Establish an IV line immediately. I think the patient's condition is more complicated than it seems. Get the blood test and prepare the blood bag," Qin Chuan said.

They had just moved the patient to the emergency observation room when his heart stopped again, and his blood pressure dropped suddenly.

"Thank goodness we didn't send him for the CT scan, or this would have been a real problem," Fang Ping was startled.

Qin Chuan calmly began emergency treatment. However, some of his techniques were different from those of ordinary doctors. Fang Ping couldn't understand why Qin Chuan was acting so strangely. But since Qin Chuan was the doctor and she was the nurse, she couldn't interfere with his treatment. In general, nurses must follow the doctor's instructions.

However, Qin Chuan's techniques seemed very effective. After a short while of CPR, the patient's heart started beating again, and his breathing resumed.

"I think the patient's head injury is not severe, but there might be internal bleeding in the abdomen. Find the contact information for the patient's family. We must contact them. If surgery is needed, the family must sign the consent form. I'll contact the thoracic surgery department for a consultation," Qin Chuan said.

Fang Ping looked at Qin Chuan in surprise, feeling that he had changed somewhat.

"What's wrong?" Qin Chuan asked.

"Nothing, nothing. I found his phone," Fang Ping said, finding the patient's phone in his pocket. Fortunately, the patient hadn't left his phone in the car. Fang Ping found the number saved as "wife" in the patient's phone.

"Hey, why aren't you back yet? If you're not coming back, why are you calling? You're always out fooling around!" The woman on the phone was not polite, clearly very upset at being woken up in the middle of the night.

"Hello," Fang Ping said, but was immediately interrupted by the woman.

"Who are you? You can't be so shameless! I've been turning a blind eye to you, but are you trying to take my place now?" The woman burst out.

Fang Ping quickly moved the phone away and said quickly, "This is the emergency department of the Central Hospital. Your husband was just brought in by 120. He is in critical condition. Please come to the hospital as soon as possible."

Fang Ping hung up without responding to the woman's continuous questions.

Qin Chuan was chuckling on the side. The thoracic surgery department had already been contacted, and the second-line doctor rushed over for a consultation.

"Take advantage of the patient's current stability and immediately perform a comprehensive examination, including a head CT to check for any damage. I'll write up the medical records," Qin Chuan said.

Writing the medical records was now very important, as it would serve as evidence to protect his interests in case of any unexpected incidents. Being a good doctor also meant protecting one's own interests. This was Qin Chuan's consistent principle. So, no matter how busy or tired he was, he always made sure to write the records properly.

After a while, the patient's various test results came back, and the second-line thoracic surgeon arrived.

The chest X-ray and CT showed that the heart, pulmonary artery, and aorta were displaced to the right, with both atria and both ventricles also displaced. There was a tension pneumothorax on the left side, multiple rib fractures, bilateral pulmonary contusions, and a ruptured spleen.

The thoracic surgery department head, Pan Jieyun, was on night duty and came over. Seeing the results, he frowned.

"This patient is in bad shape. Have you contacted the family?" Pan Jieyun asked.

Fang Ping said, "We've contacted them, and they are on their way."

"Did you perform CPR?" Pan Jieyun asked.

"The 120 team did once, and when he arrived here, his heart stopped again. I performed CPR again, but I noticed something was off and used a more special technique," Qin Chuan explained the techniques he had used.

"Xiao Qin, it's a good thing you noticed. If you had performed CPR according to the standard procedure, it would have been a big problem. The patient has multiple rib fractures, and the emergency doctor likely worsened his condition. But that couldn't be helped; the conditions at the scene were limited, and they had to stabilize his vital signs first. Once the family arrives and signs the consent form, we will perform surgery immediately," Pan Jieyun said.

The patient's wife arrived, running and crying. Fortunately, someone accompanied her to help with the procedures.

"Hello, your husband's condition is very serious, and we need to perform surgery immediately," Fang Ping quickly handed the consent form to the family for their signature.

"Where is he? Where is he? I want to see my husband!" The patient's wife was emotionally unstable, and the woman with her quickly tried to calm her down.

"Hello. Your husband's condition is very critical, and surgery must be performed immediately, or he could be in danger at any moment. Please sign the consent form first, or we cannot proceed with the surgery," Fang Ping said.

"Okay, okay, I'll sign. You must save my husband!" the patient's wife said.

After signing, Fang Ping immediately went to Pan Jieyun and said, "Director Pan, we can proceed with the surgery."

"Good. Xiao Qin, you can assist me again," Pan Jieyun had a very good impression of Qin Chuan.

"Sure," Qin Chuan readily agreed. He had wandered around the thoracic surgery department before and knew he could learn a lot from participating in such a surgery.

Pan Jieyun was the top surgeon in thoracic surgery, and his skills were solid. Although the surgery was complex, it didn't take long, and he completed it in just over an hour. Qin Chuan was responsible for the final suturing.

"Your skills are quite good. Have you worked in surgery before?" Pan Jieyun asked.

"I interned at Nanya First Hospital and spent some time in various surgical departments," Qin Chuan said.

"No wonder. Your skills are so solid. How about it? Are you interested in joining our thoracic surgery department?" Pan Jieyun asked.

"I would like to, but even if I want to, I can't," Qin Chuan said.

Pan Jieyun frowned, "We'll talk about it when there's an opportunity."
