Chapter 28

At some point, Jiang Lingling had already wrapped her arms around Qin Chuan’s arm. The saying that a woman pursuing a man is like a layer of clothing separating them was indeed not wrong. Jiang Lingling was a girl who was very persistent and brave in her feelings. To her, Qin Chuan was someone she absolutely could not miss.

"It’s very late, let’s go back," Jiang Lingling said.

"Okay," Qin Chuan nodded. Although he did not yet have romantic feelings for Jiang Lingling, he naturally did not reject a beautiful woman. He was even more unwilling to hurt a cute girl.

"My home is just ahead. I’ll go back by myself. You should hurry home and get some rest. You have to work tomorrow," Jiang Lingling said.

"It’s fine. I’ll take you to the entrance of your neighborhood. The security situation isn’t good these days. It’s not safe for a girl to walk alone," Qin Chuan said.

Qin Chuan’s words made Jiang Lingling feel warm inside, as sweet as honey. She naturally did not object and instead held onto Qin Chuan’s arm even tighter. Qin Chuan did not carry much. Jiang Lingling had walked to many places, seen a lot, and tried on a lot, but she had not bought much. Perhaps what girls cared about more was the process of shopping and the person who accompanied them, rather than what they bought.

From Zongjian Street to Yuhu Neighborhood was not far. After walking for about ten minutes, they arrived at the entrance of Yuhu Huayuan.

Jiang Lingling frowned, feeling a bit resentful. She wished the road was a bit longer. Reluctantly, she let go of Qin Chuan’s arm.

"I’ll go in then," Jiang Lingling said softly.

"Okay," Qin Chuan waved.

"Go back and get some rest," Jiang Lingling reminded him.

"Okay."

"Tomorrow, I’ll bring you breakfast," Jiang Lingling called out loudly from behind Qin Chuan.

"No," Qin Chuan quickly said.

"It’s settled then," Jiang Lingling said and quickly ran into Yuhu Huayuan.

Qin Chuan walked home helplessly.

The security guards at the entrance of Yuhu Huayuan naturally recognized the family members of the mayor’s household. Seeing Jiang Lingling being escorted back by a young man, they understood that the mayor’s daughter was in a relationship.

"Old Zhang, look at the mayor’s daughter. She’s quite different, isn’t she? She’s actually dating a common young man."

"How do you know he’s a common young man?"

"Can’t you tell? If he were from a wealthy family, would he dress so simply and walk here? Those rich kids, they all drive luxury cars and wear designer brands."

"That’s true. But if he marries the mayor’s daughter, even if he’s not from a wealthy family now, he will be in the future. Marrying a good girl can save decades of struggle."

"This won’t work out. The families are not a match, and it’s hard to maintain a relationship. Sooner or later, they’ll be separated. Just wait and see. I’m telling you, it won’t happen."

"It’s hard to say. Mayor Jiang is a good official. He might not care about family background and look at talent instead."

Qin Chuan returned home. As soon as his parents saw him, they immediately asked if he was cold or hungry, worried about their precious son. They didn’t ask where he had been for the past couple of days. The old couple knew that their child was grown up and needed his own space. Over-managing would only hinder his development.

"Dad, Mom, don’t worry. I ate outside before coming back," Qin Chuan said.

"You child, you didn’t even call home when you ate outside," He Shudi said.

"Your child is grown up and has his own life. Don’t keep asking so many questions. Can’t he have his own space?" Old Qin said.

Qin Chuan knew his parents were playing good cop, bad cop, actually wanting to know where he had been for the past couple of days.

"Don’t play good cop, bad cop. I went to Tanshan University to visit a classmate yesterday. Remember Lu Shulei? He came to our house before. He works at Tanshan University now. I went to visit him yesterday. In the afternoon, there was a major traffic accident in the city, so I had to go back to work overtime. I worked until eleven or twelve and slept in the hospital dormitory. Today, I went shopping in the city with a colleague from the hospital. This outfit is what I bought today. Is that clear enough? You can go back to watching TV now," Qin Chuan said.

"Son, we actually trust you. Was the colleague you went shopping with a man or a woman?" He Shudi asked directly.

"Both," Qin Chuan, who was not good at lying, stammered.

He Shudi and Old Qin exchanged a smile and went to watch TV.

Qin Chuan was taken aback; the two elders at home were getting sharper.

"By the way, Mom, you don’t need to prepare breakfast for me in the morning. Since I walk to the hospital, I can buy something on the way. I can get whatever I want," Qin Chuan said.

"Sure, that saves me some trouble," He Shudi agreed readily, which surprised Qin Chuan. He had expected to have to do a lot of convincing.

"Old woman, why did you agree so easily? Don’t you know that breakfast outside isn’t good for you?" Old Qin said, dissatisfied.

"Can’t you see? Our son is going to have breakfast with someone else in the morning!" He Shudi said.

"How do you know?" Old Qin asked.

"Back when we were working, didn’t I bring you breakfast?" He Shudi started reminiscing.

The two of them laughed again.

Qin Chuan lay on his bed, recalling the day he spent shopping with Jiang Lingling. He couldn’t shake off that shadow. In fact, Qin Chuan wanted to forget that person and start a new relationship. But whenever he was with Jiang Lingling, he would often think of that person.

"Ah," Qin Chuan sat up, scratching his head, feeling a bit of pain.

Qin Chuan entered the system again, suddenly remembering that there had been a ding sound in the system. He didn’t know what had changed in the system.

As soon as he entered the system, it immediately prompted: You have completed Task 2: Increase your virtue points to 30 or more within a month. Task completion: 30/30. You have received the reward: Basic First Aid.

When Qin Chuan focused his mind on Basic First Aid, his head immediately felt like it was exploding, as various first aid techniques flooded in. Don’t underestimate a simple Basic First Aid; it contained a lot of information. Thanks to the advanced technology of the future, which used a method of direct knowledge transfer, centuries of accumulated experience were instantly infused into Qin Chuan’s brain. The amount of information was unimaginable. Fortunately, it was just Basic First Aid; if it were Intermediate or even Advanced, Qin Chuan’s head might have exploded.

Qin Chuan had done quite a bit over the past couple of days, and his virtue points had returned to 10.

Even so, Qin Chuan’s brain still struggled to handle the information. After the Basic First Aid was infused, he immediately fell into a deep sleep.
