Qin Chuan had not rested for long at the doctor's workstation when Ji Xia, the daughter of patient Zhang Rong, came over.

"Doctor Qin, I want to ask, how is my mother's condition?" Ji Xia asked.

"The test results haven't come back yet, so I can't say for sure. However, based on my experience, I suspect it might be a pulmonary embolism. Even with the same disease, the severity can vary. So, don't worry too much. The results will be out soon. There's no point in being anxious right now. Did you contact your family members as I suggested?" Qin Chuan asked.

"My father passed away a long time ago, and my mother raised me alone. We don't have any other relatives. I just called my uncle, but they are all very busy and said they would come later," Ji Xia said, her voice tinged with sadness.

"Don't worry. We doctors will do everything we can. However, you should understand that hospitals are not all-powerful. Some diseases are beyond our control. You need to be mentally prepared," Qin Chuan said.

"My mother has always been in good health. I don't understand why she suddenly fell ill this time," Ji Xia said.

"Diseases can come on suddenly. Some people may look very healthy, but they can still have underlying conditions. Once the disease gets out of control, problems can arise quickly. Regular health check-ups are very important. Don't worry too much right now. Pay close attention to your mother's condition and inform the doctors and nurses immediately if anything seems wrong. We have too many patients in the emergency room, and we can't take care of everyone," Qin Chuan said.

"Okay," Ji Xia quickly left.

Afterward, Jiang Lingling brought over the test results.

"Doctor Qin, have you eaten yet?" Jiang Lingling asked casually.

"No, I haven't. I'll go to the cafeteria later," Qin Chuan said while looking at the test report.

"Oh, it's getting late. If you go too late, there won't be much left in the cafeteria," Jiang Lingling said.

"I can't. The patient's condition is not good. I'm worried about any complications. It's likely a pulmonary embolism, and we need to act quickly. If we delay, it could lead to serious problems," Qin Chuan said.

"Then let me get you some food. You can eat after you finish dealing with the patient," Jiang Lingling said.

"Would that be okay?" Qin Chuan felt a bit embarrassed.

"What's the problem? I need to eat too, so it's no trouble," Jiang Lingling said.

"Then I'll give you my meal card," Qin Chuan said.

But Jiang Lingling didn't want Qin Chuan's card and quickly walked away. When Qin Chuan looked for his meal card, Jiang Lingling was already gone.

"Doctor Qin, are you really clueless, or are you just pretending?" Gao Zhanting walked in and laughed.

"Doctor Gao, what are you talking about?" Qin Chuan seemed to understand a bit.

"Aren't you just pretending to be clueless? Jiang Lingling has been so obvious, and you really can't see it? Wu Xiaoming is so jealous, she wants to eat you alive," Gao Zhanting laughed.

Qin Chuan finally understood: "Doctor Gao, if you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have noticed. I thought Wu Xiaoming was just targeting me. So, it's because of this?"

"Really didn't know?" Gao Zhanting asked.

"How would I know? I just started here, and I don't understand much. I'm under a lot of pressure and very tired. I haven't had the time to think about these things. I only noticed after you mentioned it," Qin Chuan said.

"What do you think of our Lingling?" Gao Zhanting asked.

"Jiang Lingling is very beautiful, probably one of the best in our hospital. She is very responsible and efficient in her work, and she is very warm and friendly," Qin Chuan said.

"Responsible, that's true. She is very warm to patients, but not so much to others. She is cold to Wu Xiaoming. The warmth she shows is only for you. Haven't you noticed how nice Jiang Lingling is to you? What? Don't you have any thoughts about such a beautiful woman?" Gao Zhanting asked.

"Right now, I just want to do my job well. My family went through a lot to get me into the central hospital. I need to establish myself here. I don't want to think about these things for now," Qin Chuan said.

"You silly boy. Sometimes, when an opportunity is right in front of you, if you don't seize it, it will be gone before you know it. You need to do your job well, but when love comes, you shouldn't let it go. Tell me the truth, do you have a girlfriend?" Gao Zhanting asked.

Qin Chuan was very honest: "I did. But we broke up during my internship." Qin Chuan didn't want to recall that heart-wrenching and painful relationship.

"I understand. You are a person who values feelings. It's no wonder Jiang Lingling likes you. But sometimes, you need to let go. Jiang Lingling is a good girl, don't miss out on her. As a doctor, especially in the emergency room, it's hard to pursue a romantic relationship like in other professions. Many doctors end up with colleagues. There's nothing wrong with a doctor and a nurse or a doctor and a doctor getting together. At least they can understand each other. As someone who has been through it, I want to tell you, don't miss out on a good girl," Gao Zhanting said.

"Thank you, Sister Zhanting." Qin Chuan suddenly changed his address, leaving Gao Zhanting stunned.

"I like this title. From now on, don't call me Doctor Gao, call me Sister Zhanting. I have a new little brother. I'll invite you and Jiang Lingling to my house for dinner one day to create an opportunity for you two," Gao Zhanting smiled.

"Sure," Qin Chuan said. Although he didn't have any special feelings for Jiang Lingling, she was indeed very beautiful, even more so than his ex-girlfriend. Even if they couldn't end up together, having a beautiful friend would be nice.

Qin Chuan felt much better, and his fatigue was temporarily set aside. He took the test report and headed to the observation room.

Ji Xia was sitting in the observation room, holding her mother's hand, trying to hold back her tears as she spoke to her still unconscious mother about their past and their plans for the future.

"Mom, we promised that after I marry Haocheng, you would live with us. When we have children, you would help us take care of them. Haocheng was supposed to come with me today, but he is very busy at work. I told him to come after work. Haocheng also said that after we get married, he will treat you like his own mother. Mom, you are usually so healthy. Our lives were getting better, and now you are sick. Please wake up, okay?" Ji Xia couldn't hold back her tears and rushed out of the room, sobbing in the hallway, tears streaming down her face.

What Ji Xia didn't know was that at the moment she left the room, a large tear rolled down from the corner of Zhang Rong's eye, and her fingers moved slightly.
