"Qin Chuan, I still have to go to the hospital for the night shift later, so please see Ling Ling home," Gao Zhanting said.
"Qin Chuan, behave yourself," He Xiaokang said.
Jiang Lingling was very happy but also a bit nervous, blushing as she kept stealing glances at Qin Chuan.
"Let's go. By the way, where do you live?" Qin Chuan asked.
"It's not far, just ahead, at Yuhu Mingyuan. It's next to Yuhu Park," Jiang Lingling said.
"That's great. You can take walks in Yuhu Park on a regular basis," Qin Chuan said.
What Qin Chuan didn't know was that Yuhu Mingyuan wasn't just any ordinary residential area. The Tanshan municipal government was also located near Yuhu Mingyuan, so they built a government employee residential area there. Although it was a government employee residential area, not just any government employee was qualified to buy a house there. Most of the residents were officials from the municipal government. At the time, the big and small officials of Tanshan City had a lot of trouble getting a house in this residential area. After all, it was close to the municipal government, and there were the best primary and secondary schools in the city nearby. Plus, there was Yuhu Park with its large green area and activity space, making such a residential area very sought after.
Although Qin Chuan was from Tanshan, he wasn't involved in politics and lacked social experience, so he had no idea about Yuhu Mingyuan. He thought it was just an ordinary residential area.
"Doctor Qin, where do you live?" Jiang Lingling asked.
"Our house is on the Infrastructure Street, in the old alley. It's still the house from my parents' old workplace," Qin Chuan said.
"That's good too. You live among familiar people," Jiang Lingling said.
"When I was a child, we did live among familiar people, but not anymore. My parents' colleagues have all moved away, and now most of the residents are tenants. We originally planned to buy a house, but the money was spent on my education and job hunting," Qin Chuan said.
"Now that you're a doctor, it will be easier to buy a house in the future," Jiang Lingling said.
"I just started working, and the salary of an emergency doctor isn't much. It will be tough to buy a house," Qin Chuan laughed.
As they talked, they had already arrived at Yuhu Mingyuan.
"Yuhu Mingyuan, you live here?" Qin Chuan looked up and saw the gate of Yuhu Mingyuan.
Jiang Lingling was quite annoyed. She had taken Qin Chuan on a big detour, but they still arrived at her home quickly. Although Gao Zhanting had teased them, their relationship wasn't officially established yet.
"Yes, I'm here. Doctor Qin, thank you for seeing me home. It's quite far for you to go back, so be careful on the way," Jiang Lingling said.
"It's okay, it's not that far. I often come to Yuhu Park. I didn't expect you to live here," Qin Chuan said.
"Next time you come, call me. I love playing," Jiang Lingling said.
"Alright, go in quickly," Qin Chuan said.
"It's fine, I'm already in the residential area. You go back first," Jiang Lingling said.
"Okay, I'll go back first. See you," Qin Chuan said.
"Doctor Qin, see you," Jiang Lingling stood at the entrance of the residential area, watching Qin Chuan's figure gradually disappear.
"Ling Ling, what are you doing here? Get in the car."
A black car drove up and stopped beside Jiang Lingling. The window slowly rolled down, and a middle-aged man in his fifties poked his head out to ask.
Jiang Lingling opened the car door and got in.
"Dad, you're home. I'm fine," Jiang Lingling was a bit flustered.
"Was the young man who just left your colleague?" Jiang Lingling's father asked.
"Yes. You saw him?" Jiang Lingling asked.
"Why? Can't I see?" Jiang Lingling's father laughed.
"No, he is my colleague. We had dinner together, and after dinner, Sister Zhanting asked him to see me home," Jiang Lingling said.
"Colleagues having dinner together is good," Jiang Lingling's father laughed.
"Yes, it's good," Jiang Lingling was always a bit at a loss.
Qin Chuan had drunk a bit of alcohol. Walking outside, the wind made him feel a bit dizzy. He wobbled back home.
"You stink of alcohol, boy," Qin Chuan's mother frowned when she saw him.
"We had a department dinner, and I drank a bit with my colleagues. I didn't drink much. Director Cheng was there too," Qin Chuan said.
"You should drink less in the future. You're a doctor now, and drinking is bad for your health," Qin Chuan's mother said.
Qin Chuan's father laughed, "Our son is growing up. Don't treat him like a child. If you keep nagging, he won't find a girlfriend."
"What's wrong with me managing my son? How can my son not find a girlfriend? He's so handsome and a doctor. I bet many girls like him!" Qin Chuan's mother was very confident in her son.
Qin Chuan watched his parents bicker and smiled, not joining in. Their arguments were endless, and he didn't want to get involved.
"Dad, Mom, you two take your time. I'm going to sleep. I have the day shift and the night shift tomorrow," Qin Chuan said.
"Okay, go rest, son," Qin Chuan's mother said lovingly.
Sitting on the bed, Qin Chuan thought about today's events. Speaking of Jiang Lingling, he did have a good impression of her. The girl was really beautiful, especially as a nurse, with her fair skin like white jade from being in the shade often.
Work was different from school. Qin Chuan hadn't adapted yet. In school, everything was idealistic, but after starting work, everything was realistic. He needed to get promoted to increase his salary. In life, he needed to consider marriage, and to get married, he needed to buy a house. Of course, he needed to find a suitable girl first. In school, if a girlfriend wasn't right, he could find another one. Even if he didn't find one in the end, it didn't matter. But after starting work, he couldn't afford to keep changing. He didn't need the best, but he needed the most suitable. The tradition of matching social status in marriage had its reasons.
But if life was just about getting married, having children, and waiting for old age, what was the point? Qin Chuan used to be very idealistic, and now he found it hard to adapt to this harsh reality.
"Phew!"
He sighed, lay down on the bed, and buried himself in the soft blanket. He stared blankly at the ceiling. Is this what life is?
"Drip!"
Suddenly, a sound rang in Qin Chuan's mind.
"System task issued: Task one, complete basic medical knowledge learning within one year, with a passing grade or higher."
"Task two, increase virtue points to 30 within one month. Current progress: 5/30."
"Task completion reward unknown. Task failure will result in automatic system uninstallation."
"Huh?" Qin Chuan sat up, "Tasks issued? And there's a penalty for failure?"
"Hey, will uninstalling cause problems? It's installed in my brain," Qin Chuan was most concerned about his safety.
"Due to the host's basic conditions being below average, uninstallation may cause brainstem damage. In severe cases, the host may permanently lose all consciousness."
This is a big problem!
