### Chapter 0: Prologue

"…So, if you accept this inheritance left by the chairman and forget everything, that's all there is to it. Everything related to the Ohgang Group and the family."

My head is throbbing as if needles are being jabbed into my brain, stirring it up.

"Nothing will change. You just need to continue living as a normal baseball player, just as you have been."

Ah, the headache isn't subsiding; now my eyes are starting to spin.

But… what is this person saying to me? I feel like I've seen this face before.

"Even though it's not a major company and you don't have voting rights, 2% of Ohgang Industries will ensure that you won't have any financial difficulties even if you fail as a baseball player. Seattle… was it? It's a good place. I hope you can live there comfortably and without any trouble, as a good player."

The throbbing headache made me unconsciously reach for my head.

The unfamiliar sensation at my fingertips.

The moment I realized I had a buzz cut, a long-forgotten memory from the past resurfaced.

Now I understand. Where I am and what I'm doing here.

That day, 15 years ago, in the hotel coffee shop.

The situation where a man claiming to be the secretary of the Ohgang Group suddenly appeared and offered me company shares.

What's going on here? Why am I here?

"Alright, if you understand, just sign these documents."

Ugh… I can't. I need time to gather my thoughts.

"Wait a moment."

"Yes?"

"Mr. Oh, right? Please wait a moment."

"…Hmm."

I tried to calm the throbbing headache that felt like it was about to burst and retraced the events that led to this moment.

'…Right, I remember. I was trying to save that child in front of the stadium.'

As the intense headache gradually subsided, the final moments of my life came to mind.

I was heading to the stadium for a game when I saw a young child step onto the road. I ran to save the child and was hit by a truck.

I don't particularly like children, so why did I do that?

After finally piecing together the current situation, I lifted my head and looked at the man in front of me.

What this man is offering me is the leftover inheritance from the chairman of the Ohgang Group, a man who never once looked for me or my mother.

At nineteen, in my rebellious and ambitious years, I rejected this man's offer.

I thought accepting the shares would be like giving a pardon to the man who left my mother alone and lonely.

I didn't want to be associated with the man who didn't even show up when my mother passed away.

My confidence in myself also played a role.

I believed I could succeed as a Major League player and live a luxurious life without that money. And I did.

So, should I make the same choice again?

Should I tell him to get lost and live my life without the shares?

…

'For whose benefit?'

No, I don't think that's the right choice.

Whether I accept this or not, the deceased chairman won't know. Refusing the inheritance would only make my half-siblings happy.

At nineteen, I rejected the substantial inheritance out of youthful defiance, but after living to my mid-thirties, I decided to accept this blind money.

Just not the shares, which would only bring me trouble.

"Mr. Secretary."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Mr. Secretary, how much authority do you have?"

"Authority?"

"For example, can you exchange those shares for something else?"

"…If it's something of similar value, it might be possible, but why?"

Mr. Oh's face was filled with confusion.

He looked like he was wondering what this young man was trying to say.

"Let's forget about the shares. Accepting them would only make the chairman's children a nuisance. I don't want that. I don't want to have any ties with the Ohgang Group."

"Then?"

"First, 1.5 trillion won in cash, with all taxes already paid."

"1.5 trillion won? It's possible, but the value of the shares is much greater…"

"Also, the baseball team that's currently facing dissolution, transfer it to me."

"Excuse me? The Warriors? What do you plan to do with it as a high school student…"

In my past life, I was a fairly successful baseball player.

I spent two years in the minor leagues, then moved up to the major leagues and played as a pitcher for eight years, even winning the Cy Young Award.

After a shoulder injury, I switched to being a batter and won the American League MVP, achieving my second peak.

I had accomplished everything I could as a baseball player, but my heart always felt empty.

I realized the reason for this much later.

The precious relationships I had pushed away and ignored in my pursuit of success as a Major League player.

And the Warriors.

The team that inspired me to dream of becoming a baseball player when I was a child.

My childhood dream, which failed to be sold and was completely dissolved, disappearing into history.

Only after I had no more room to grow as a baseball player did I realize what I truly wanted.

I didn't want to be Han Su-hyuk, the Cy Young winner, but Han Su-hyuk, the player wearing the uniform of the team I loved since childhood, the Warriors.

I longed for a life with the people I cherished, not as an isolated Major League player.

"Mr. Secretary."

"Yes?"

That's why I want to take a completely different path this time.

Even if it's difficult and challenging, it's the path that will make me the happiest.

"Transfer the baseball team to me. Then I will forget everything related to the Ohgang Group."
