"Why are we going to the temple?" Ruan Chi asked warily.

Rachel gave Ruan Chi a meaningful look with her beautiful eyes and smiled slightly without answering.

Thus, Ruan Chi, full of questions, was led to a huge tree. The tree was somewhat like a banyan tree, but its trunk was much too large, requiring over a hundred people to encircle it. The tree's crown towered into the clouds, even more massive than the redwoods in the real world.

The temple Rachel mentioned was actually the church Ruan Chi had come out of yesterday, which was part of the temple. Ruan Chi hadn't noticed it yesterday.

A group of people escorted Ruan Chi into the temple through another entrance, where two well-dressed elf guards stood. As soon as they saw Ruan Chi and the others, they immediately welcomed them and indicated that they could enter.

Upon entering, Ruan Chi found that the interior of the elf building was quite large. Although it wasn't a palace, it was still quite grand. He hadn't expected such a magnificent place in a village.

In fact, Ruan Chi didn't know that elves were different from humans. Elves valued integration and equality, and their towns didn't have class distinctions. Their villages were equivalent to large human cities, so it wasn't strange to have such large buildings.

Inside the temple, there were a group of elves, but they were all older. In particular, the one in the middle was an old elf woman with white hair, but her skin was still relatively fair and smooth, with few wrinkles. She looked full of vitality and spirit.

Her name was Gona.

"Elder, this is the one," Rachel led Ruan Chi to the old woman and said respectfully.

"Human, was it you who suddenly appeared on the altar of the Harvest Goddess yesterday?" The elf elder's attitude was still quite friendly, with a very kind smile.

"It was me who resurrected on your altar, so what?" Ruan Chi dug his ear and said irritably, "Is there anything wrong with a player resurrecting in the town's church? Do you have to capture me for that?"

Ruan Chi's words made everyone in the room sweat. What resurrection? What player?

"Human, please be mindful of your words and don't say strange things," Rachel said coldly from the side.

"What's strange about what I said?" Ruan Chi said, widening his eyes.

Elder Gona frowned, "Human, please explain yourself clearly. Don't make us treat you as an invader."

"Isn't it already clear? I just happened to resurrect in your village. Haven't you seen players resurrect before?" Ruan Chi said, rubbing his forehead.

Speaking of which, Ruan Chi had spent one night in this elf village and noticed a strange thing: he hadn't seen a single elf player.

For this, Ruan Chi could only assume that this elf village wasn't a beginner village but a remote map that hadn't been explored by players yet.

However, the attitude of these NPCs towards players was something Ruan Chi couldn't understand.

Having read many online game guides, Ruan Chi knew that NPCs couldn't imprison players without a reason, so he was quite frustrated.

Ruan Chi's explanation left Rachel and Elder Gona looking at each other, equally unable to understand his meaning.

At this moment, another older elf elder with silver hair spoke, "Hmph, regardless of the reason, as long as he's a human, there's no need to question him. Just take him to the Holy Sacrifice."

This elder's words immediately gained the approval of the elves present.

"That's right, humans are despicable and shameless. This person might be a member of the slave-hunting team."

"Kill him to avenge our fallen comrades."

...

Seeing the elves' indignant expressions, Ruan Chi was taken aback but suddenly understood.

Before entering the game, Ruan Chi had also studied the background of "Knight's Heart" and knew that it was divided into three major factions.

Order Faction: White Elves, Sky Feather Clan, Merfolk Clan

Neutral Faction: Human Clan, Dwarf Clan, Beast Clan

Chaos Faction: Blood Elves, Dragon Clan, Sea Demon Clan

Although Ruan Chi was a hidden race, the Titan Clan, he had to choose one of the three factions as a player. In the end, he chose the Neutral Faction's Human Clan, so his appearance was set as a human.

These guys clearly mistook Ruan Chi for a human...

Different factions were already hostile to each other, and with the recent historical issues between humans and white elves, the enmity between them had reached a blood feud.

No wonder they had such a low initial goodwill towards him.

Thinking about this, Ruan Chi felt a bit wronged. He had resurrected on elf territory, which was like sending a lamb to the wolves.

Now, the elves in the temple were in an uproar, and everyone agreed to take Ruan Chi to the Holy Sacrifice. Although he didn't know what the Holy Sacrifice was, he knew it couldn't be anything good.

"Wait, you've misunderstood. I'm not a human," Ruan Chi immediately said, thinking of his hidden race, the Titan Clan.

"Trying to deceive us? Not a chance," the silver-haired elder who first suggested the Holy Sacrifice said coldly. "Take him away."

Without giving Ruan Chi a chance to argue, two elf guards came forward and dragged him out. Ruan Chi was soon brought to a rippling lake.

By the lake stood a large tree, from which a cage made of vines hung. The silver-haired elder walked to the tree and whispered a few spells. Miraculously, the cage came to life, breaking into vines that wrapped around Ruan Chi.

In no time, Ruan Chi was tied up in the cage, which was suspended over the lake.

"Damn, what kind of Holy Sacrifice is this? It's just a disregard for human life..." Ruan Chi cursed, but his voice was quickly muffled as a vine entered his mouth.

"Elder Gona, the Holy Sacrifice can begin."

Elder Gona nodded, looked at Ruan Chi, and then clasped her hands to recite the holy scriptures. Rachel and the others followed suit.

As the scriptures began, the cage made of vines slowly descended, and Ruan Chi, who could only make "muffled" sounds, was soon thrown into the lake.

System: You have triggered "Suffocation," HP -20 per second.

System: You have died. Please choose a resurrection method.

1. Accept a resurrection skill or use a resurrection potion to revive on the spot.

2. Revive at the nearest town church or a recorded town church.

In no time, Ruan Chi was dead. Although he wanted to revive elsewhere, he couldn't because the resurrection point was already bound and couldn't be canceled.

So, a few seconds later, Ruan Chi helplessly appeared on the altar of the church again.

"No way, I can't just sit here and wait to die. I have to leave!" Ruan Chi, who had just resurrected, looked annoyed. Seeing the empty church, he immediately thought it was a good opportunity to escape.

The elves probably thought he was dead and wouldn't think to look for him for a while.
