Chapter 1

Dragon Kingdom.

Inside the Great Xia Library, the sound of pages turning never ceased.

"Alas... I can't even find a decent historical biography."

Lin Feng picked up a book from the shelf, glanced at it, frowned, and shook his head, then reluctantly put it back down.

The elderly librarian, seeing his expression, couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head.

He remembered that five days ago, this young man named Lin Feng suddenly came to the Great Xia Library and began flipping through various historical texts.

He arrived early every day and stayed until very late.

However, each time he came with high hopes and left in disappointment.

He muttered to himself, as if searching for something, yet finding nothing.

Seeing Lin Feng still busy, the librarian didn't disturb him and went off to attend to his own tasks.

In fact,

Lin Feng was indeed looking for something, specifically a historical biography of the Dragon Kingdom.

Just five days ago,

Lin Feng had traveled from Earth to this parallel world.

The country he now found himself in was called the Dragon Kingdom. Although the name was different, it was almost identical to his homeland on Earth in terms of geographical location, land area, and even customs and traditions.

Even the world's overall structure was strikingly similar to the former Earth.

However, through the memories he had fused with during his journey, Lin Feng knew that this world had a significant historical gap.

In his previous life, Lin Feng was a historian.

After learning about the historical gap in this world, he came to the Great Xia Library to read historical texts.

Over the past five days,

Lin Feng, who had been immersed in the library, had finally found some leads.

"It seems that the history of this world is not just a simple gap; some parts are severely missing, as if they were forcibly erased." Lin Feng muttered to himself.

A historical gap means that no one knows what happened during certain periods.

However, a historical void is different.

According to the records in this world, the Qin and Han dynasties, among others, did exist in the historical timeline.

However, the information about them is extremely limited.

For example, the only records about Qin Shi Huang mention his burning of books and burying of scholars, and his cruel nature, with no other details.

The description of the Qin Dynasty is merely the weak and powerless four words "fell after two generations."

The introduction to Emperor Wu of Han is also brief, with no records of his early achievements, only mentions of his later incompetence.

As for Zhu Yuanzhang, the records jump directly to his ruthless elimination of his loyalists and betrayal of his allies.

If even these well-known emperors are treated this way, it's even worse for the others.

But who is Lin Feng?

On Earth, he was a nationally renowned historian.

Although this world's history has significant gaps, after five days of effort, Lin Feng, based on the limited information available, could determine that the history of the Dragon Kingdom is almost identical to that of his homeland on Earth.

However,

The historical void has had a series of chain reactions on this world.

Due to the lack of historical awareness, more human and resource costs have been poured into technological development.

People only focus on rapid technological advancement, exploiting nature without regard for consequences.

This has led to the rapid depletion of resources on the Blue Planet!

Although the technology level is advanced, the resources on the Blue Planet are now extremely scarce!

Not only the Dragon Kingdom, but even developed countries face the same resource shortage.

Due to the scarcity of resources,

The relationships between countries have become increasingly delicate.

Conflicts between countries are frequent.

"Snap!"

Lin Feng closed the last book in the history section.

His face was solemn, and his eyes filled with worry.

To understand the present, one must learn from the past; without the past, there is no present.

Combining historical and current situations, the tensions between countries are obvious.

Resource scarcity and overpopulation!

Throughout history, the solution has always been one: war!

Countless lives will ultimately become cold statistics.

Take the Dragon Kingdom, for example.

Although the Dragon Kingdom has abundant species and resources, vast territory, and a large population, unlike Earth, the population on the Blue Planet has swollen to 3 billion!

The consumption of resources, combined with technological development and uncontrolled exploitation, is astronomical!

Lin Feng predicted that if resources continue to be depleted, a large-scale war on the Blue Planet is likely to break out in the near future.

With the Blue Planet's technology even more advanced than Earth's, the consequences of a war would be unimaginable!

And as Lin Feng had guessed,

Some resource-poor small countries have already experienced a series of conflicts.

Many experts on television have called for countries to remain calm, avoid armed conflicts, and reasonably allocate resources to overcome the crisis together.

However,

The people of these small countries are already starving, and who has the time to listen to experts?

"Alas..."

Lin Feng sighed deeply, feeling a wave of helplessness.

As a historian, Lin Feng is most unwilling to see historical voids.

But with war looming, who cares about history?

The history of the Dragon Kingdom is the same as that of his homeland on Earth.

The people of the Dragon Kingdom also have the blood of the Chinese.

Lin Feng's values are always upright, which is why he is puzzled by the historical void in the Dragon Kingdom.

As a descendant of the Chinese, Lin Feng naturally wants to use his limited abilities to fill in the historical gaps of the Dragon Kingdom.

He wants to tell the Dragon Kingdom about the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, the discovery of fire by Sui Ren, the planting of grains by Shen Nong, the establishment of laws by Yao, and the flood control by Yu...

He wants to tell the world about the four ancient civilizations, three of which have perished, leaving only the Dragon Kingdom, which has endured for millennia.

However,

In the current situation, who has the time to care about history?

"If there are no accidents, war may not be far off. At this point, who cares about history? Just surviving is enough."

Lin Feng sighed lightly and walked out of the Great Xia Library.

Next, he needs to prepare for the possible war in the future.

However, just as Lin Feng stepped out,

"Look, in the sky...!"

"What is that!?"

"It looks like a palace... Oh no, the palace is falling!"

The passersby let out a series of exclamations, and more and more people looked up at the sky.

Lin Feng followed their gaze and saw a massive and majestic palace descending from the sky.

As the palace descended, it blocked the sun, casting a black shadow over Lin Feng.

The street was filled with piercing screams.

Although people didn't know where the palace came from, seeing it about to crash down, they immediately cried out and fled in panic.

However,

Just as Lin Feng was about to find a tall building to hide,

The palace in the sky suddenly stopped descending and hovered in the air.

After a moment,

Many people, including Lin Feng, cautiously looked up at the sky.

The architectural style of the palace was strange, neither like an Eastern palace nor a Western castle.

Although it was strange, it was not without beauty.

At the bottom of the palace, there were clear golden symbols, which looked like some unknown script.

Although these symbols were strange,

Lin Feng recognized their meaning at first glance—

Civilization Court!

"Civilization Court? Eh? Why do I recognize these symbols?"

A young man next to Lin Feng said.

The others also nodded in agreement.

It seemed that they, like Lin Feng, recognized the meaning of the symbols, even though they had never seen them before.

However, just as everyone was whispering,

【Given that the Blue Planet's overall civilization level has reached 0.9, the Civilization Court will open in 5 minutes! At that time, the Civilization Court will begin to judge controversial figures in the history of various countries, assessing whether they have contributed to or harmed the continuation of civilization, and ultimately award them special titles based on their merits.】

【A defense attorney will be selected from each country to defend the country's figures.】

【If the defense attorney succeeds, the country will receive resource rewards or technological rewards.】

【If the defense attorney fails, the country will be punished by the Civilization Court.】

【The trial process of the Civilization Court will be broadcast live on major media outlets worldwide, and everyone can watch the progress of the trial at any time.】

【The following are the rules of the Civilization Court, which must be remembered!】

【1. During the defense, defense attorneys from other countries can use historical facts to challenge the defense attorney. If successful, they will receive the country's reward.】

【2. Each country can provide props to their defense attorney, which will be delivered to the defense attorney through micro-wormhole transportation technology.】

【3. If the defense is successful, in addition to the resource and technological rewards for the country, the defense attorney will also receive special rewards.】

【4. Defense attorneys should try their best to defend, as the resources and technological rewards from the Civilization Court are sufficient to elevate the civilization level of their country from 0.9 to a new era!】

【The countdown begins: 5 minutes, 4:59/58/57...】

A mysterious, mechanical voice echoed in everyone's mind, and clear letters appeared in their minds.

The streets gradually became chaotic.

The events of today were a huge shock to everyone!

Even around Lin Feng, the noise and discussion never ceased.

"What the hell!? Am I hallucinating? What trial, what defense?"

"I heard it too, so it's not a hallucination!"

"Is it an alien invasion?"

"No, I think it's a plot by the United States!"

"Look at the subtitles in your mind. Even if you don't know what a defense attorney is, if the defense is successful, there will be resource and technological rewards!"

"And the defense attorney will also receive rewards."

"I don't care about the rest, but if the resource rewards are real, that would be great."

"Ai, you're too optimistic. You know the Dragon Kingdom's history is a mess."

"Right, who knows who will be chosen as the defense attorney?"

"If it's a historian, it would be better. If it's an illiterate..."

"Then we're in trouble."

...

People were talking and discussing in a flurry.

Besides the Dragon Kingdom, people in other countries, although they didn't see the palace in the sky, also heard the mysterious voice.

The entire world was discussing the Civilization Court and the defense attorneys.

Time passed minute by minute.

Just as the countdown ended, the mysterious voice echoed in Lin Feng's mind again.

【Citizen Lin Feng of the Dragon Kingdom, are you willing to become the defense attorney for the Dragon Kingdom?】

"Me?"

Lin Feng glanced at the unresponsive crowd around him, feeling slightly surprised.

But soon, this surprise turned into excitement.

The history of the Dragon Kingdom has significant gaps, and even the most authoritative historians may not know much.

But he is different.

The history of the Dragon Kingdom is the same as that of his homeland on Earth, which he already knows thoroughly.

Probably no one in the Dragon Kingdom is more suitable to be the defense attorney than him!

"I already had the idea to fill in the historical gaps of the Dragon Kingdom."

"Now I have this rare opportunity."

"If I can successfully defend historical figures, not only will I promote historical culture, but both I and the Dragon Kingdom will receive rewards."

"Since that's the case..."

"I am willing to become the defense attorney for the Dragon Kingdom!"

Lin Feng's eyes gradually became determined.

【Defense attorney binding successful, transporting defense attorney to the Civilization Court...】

As Lin Feng was being transported,

The mysterious voice echoed in the minds of everyone in the world.
