Zhuochuan clicked on the instructions and saw a simple interface with one button to open files and another to enable network reception.
He thought for a moment, quickly dialed the dedicated connection method, and connected to the internal network of the city's oncology hospital, retrieving some ECG data of patients from that day.
Then he input these ECG data.
"Name: Liu Ying, Gender: Female, Age: 87, Prediction of physical condition for the next ten days: First life-threatening event will occur 35 minutes later, severity level: severe, difficult to save."
The ECGs included the patients' names and other basic information. Zhuochuan read the first prediction and thought it could be confirmed immediately. He checked the current time, which was 7:00 PM.
"Name: Wang Qiang, Gender: Male, Age: 72, Prediction of physical condition for the next ten days: First life-threatening event will occur 9 hours later, severity level: moderate, no further life-threatening events within ten days after this one."
"Name: He Jian, Gender: Male, Age: 66, Prediction of physical condition for the next ten days: A life-threatening event will occur 2 hours later, severity level: mild, if survived, a second life-threatening event will occur on the 7th day."
...
Zhuochuan selected ten samples in total. He carefully read the predictions and found that most of them would experience life-threatening events within one or two days. It was no wonder, given that this was a hospital for severe cases.
He thought for a moment and then busied himself recompiling the code, adding a few interfaces and call functions to make it easier for him to collaborate with the ECG monitor manufacturer the next day.
After an hour of work, he reconnected to the hospital's internal network and quickly reviewed the patient data he had just retrieved.
"Name: Liu Ying, Gender: Female, Age: 87, Status: Deceased. Time of death: 7:41 PM."
There was a lot of patient information, but what caught Zhuochuan's attention was the time of death. Seeing this, although he felt sympathy, he couldn't help but feel excited.
It was amazing. Zhuochuan could imagine the enormous value this would bring once it was released. Of course, what truly excited him was that he wouldn't have to wait idly for patients to die; instead, he could accurately and purposefully find his target subjects.
Thinking of this, he quickly copied the source code to three USB drives and disconnected the network.
While running antivirus scans, he thought it would be better to weaken it first and release it in several different versions.
The first version would have an accuracy rate of around 50%. After all, a false alarm would at most make the doctor and family members nervous, but it wouldn't harm the patient. However, a correct prediction could save a life.
Thinking of this, Zhuochuan felt more at ease. At least after releasing this software, he could harvest soul power while also giving hope to patients who shouldn't have died. After all, more than half of the critical patients died due to untimely emergency care, except for those who chose to give up.
Of course, from the way the software ran, it could actually be used independently of the ECG monitor. However, Zhuochuan wouldn't do that. His goal was to get close to the critically ill to harvest soul power. Only as a device manufacturer could he stay by the patients' side under the guise of clinical observation.
After weakening the version, Zhuochuan saved the source code to a USB drive and then thoroughly deleted it from his laptop, erasing it several times to prevent any traces from being left behind.
...
"Manager Zhuo, I heard you resigned. How are you doing now?"
"Of course, we welcome you to collaborate with us again. However, since you are no longer with your original company, how do you plan to collaborate?" A capable female voice said over the phone.
"What, you want us to bundle and sell a software you developed?"
"This software can analyze the patient's ECG signals in real-time to predict their physical condition?"
"Given Manager Zhuo's reputation in this industry, we naturally trust you. After all, we have done a lot of interface work with the software you led the development of, and our cooperation has been very pleasant. If it's convenient for you, please come to our company today, and we can discuss it in detail."
After the call, the next morning, Zhuochuan had already communicated with a previous ECG monitor supplier. This ECG monitor manufacturer, named Starlight Medical Equipment Company, was a partner of his previous company and also a local enterprise. Due to its proximity, it was easy to maintain, and the various medical devices it developed and distributed had a certain share in the city's hospitals.
Zhuochuan's previous company, as a software provider, naturally had to collaborate with such hardware providers, needing to obtain ECG data from them to provide real-time feedback to doctors. This way, doctors wouldn't have to run to the machines every time and could receive physiological alarms from the devices.
Therefore, Zhuochuan's software greatly expanded the functionality of their ECG monitors, and they were naturally interested.
Of course, if it were a stranger, even a phone pitch or a visit would be hard to believe, and the likelihood of rejection would be higher, given the many scammers out there.
However, with his previous identity and reputation, Zhuochuan wouldn't be taken for a joke. Connections like this could serve as an entry point.
...
Taking a taxi to Starlight Medical Equipment Company, as a hardware provider and a local enterprise, it had its own office park from the early years, which was slightly larger than Zhuochuan's previous company. However, Zhuochuan's previous company had grown faster and benefited from favorable policies, while Starlight had been continuously impacted by domestic and international competitors, leading to a gradual decline in market share. The two companies were roughly on par, and the CEO of Starlight was a strong woman named Xu Yan, who had a good relationship with him.
Because of the appointment and his previous visits, the receptionist recognized him. After registering at the front desk and getting a call through, she immediately led him to the general manager's office upon receiving permission.
"Chief Engineer Liu, Deputy Chief Engineer Xie, the sales trend of our self-produced medical devices is not good. Although we have a price advantage, with stricter policies, our sales methods are increasingly restricted. You need to work on improving various parameters to give our sales team a stronger edge in bidding," a young and beautiful professional woman said, sitting behind the desk, her fingers intertwined, her phoenix eyes fixed on the two engineers standing in front of her. This young and beautiful professional woman was Xu Yan, whom Zhuochuan naturally recognized.
The two engineers, one old and one young, the older one nodded in agreement, head down. The younger one, however, occasionally glanced at the professional woman and occasionally interjected.
"Manager Xu, to be honest, our country is just a supporting player in this industry. Advanced technology is abroad, and other companies also import technology, package it, and sell it as their own. Few truly have research and development capabilities. To quickly improve the performance parameters, it's best to import technology from well-known international companies in the industry," the young engineer argued.
"Manager Xu, Mr. Zhuochuan has arrived," the receptionist knocked on the door during their conversation.
The professional woman saw Zhuochuan standing at the door, got up, and walked over, the older engineer stepping aside.
"Manager Zhuo, you look like you're making a comeback today. I wonder if you would consider joining our company? I would welcome a professional role model like you," Xu Yan walked up to Zhuochuan and extended her hand.
Zhuochuan lightly shook her hand and let go. She was a good-looking woman, but not an easy person. It wasn't easy for her to keep her father's company running on her own.
"Not at all, I don't want to be a professional role model anymore. I want to taste the life of being a boss," Zhuochuan said calmly.
"Oh, then I'll have to call you Boss Zhuo from now on," Xu Yan joked.
"Sure, sure," Zhuochuan chatted for a bit and then wanted to steer the conversation back on track.
"Well, we're all busy, so let me get straight to the point. I only briefly mentioned it on the phone, so I'll explain it in more detail now. Since Chief Engineer Liu is here, he should understand its value," Zhuochuan glanced at the older engineer.
The older engineer was about 40 years old, with a lot of white hair and deep wrinkles. Zhuochuan had worked with him many times and knew him to be a diligent and hardworking employee.
