Chapter 83

Zhuochuan had just walked into the company’s main entrance. Unlike the usual quiet, a burst of noise greeted him.

"I never thought our boss would be so impressive, actually publishing a paper in the *Nature* magazine," an employee was browsing the official website of *Nature*, where a large headline displayed the title of Zhuochuan’s paper.

"Now we don’t have to worry about the company not being able to continue. To be honest, with such high salaries, I originally thought that even if the boss had a lot of money, it wouldn’t last more than a few months. Now, with the boss having this capability, we won’t have to worry about funding," another employee said, looking up.

"Alright, alright, Manager Chen just wants everyone to take a look. After you’re done, get back to work. The boss is here," a team leader, who had sharp eyes, saw Zhuochuan enter and quickly said.

Zhuochuan smiled at the scene. The voices of the employees were filled with pride and relief. This was the benefit of high salaries. To maintain such benefits, employees would genuinely want to keep the company running and look forward to every good news, especially those on the front lines.

Zhuochuan walked through the office area and entered his general manager’s office.

He had barely sat down for five minutes when his phone rang.

"Brother Zhuochuan, you really aren’t being fair. When we were doing experiments at our hospital, some doctors asked you about the principle behind your software’s prediction of patients' physiological changes, but you never gave a detailed explanation. It turns out you were hiding it all here, quietly publishing a paper in *Nature*," the person on the other end of the phone was the director of the city’s specialized tumor hospital, Zhou. Although his tone was accusatory, Zhuochuan immediately knew he wasn’t really angry.

"I’m really sorry. I was just being too cautious. How did you find out so quickly?" Zhuochuan apologized but was also puzzled. The company employees knew because Manager Chen Zhengqian had posted the news on the internal website and organized a celebration. How did Director Zhou get the news so quickly?

*Nature* magazine is indeed famous, but the article had just been published. Unless you knew in advance, only those who closely followed the magazine could get the information from the official website first.

"Oh, I was just logging into a professional doctor’s forum as part of my routine when I saw a post by a medical doctor. He posted it at 7 AM, and I saw it as soon as I started work. I saw the title and the author’s name," Director Zhou didn’t hide the source of the information and spoke frankly.

"Even the content and cases inside, including a few patients from our hospital, one of whom I treated personally. I could guess it was you. Aren’t you going to give some experimental fees?"

Zhuochuan smiled. He knew that a busy person like Director Zhou wouldn’t call without a purpose.

"Let’s not talk about the experimental fees. The experiments we did at your hospital helped save many patients, and you know that best. Director Li has praised you many times, as I’ve heard from Director Yang," Zhuochuan responded with a smile.

"Alright, alright, I was just joking, you really have a way with words," Director Zhou surrendered, "By the way, what have you been up to lately? You don’t seem to come to our hospital much. Don’t become famous and forget your old friends."

"How could I? I just started the company recently. Publishing this paper is also a way to advertise for the company and attract more funding," Zhuochuan naturally wouldn’t forget. The super nursing home plan would need Director Zhou’s help in the future.

"Oh, you started a company? Did you leave Starlight Company? You should have told me, I could have come to support you," Director Zhou, while saying this, felt a bit regretful. Although he still served as the head of the cardiothoracic surgery department, after being promoted to deputy director, his main focus shifted to administration. Despite valuing Zhuochuan’s software, he wasn’t as sensitive to it and didn’t make a strong effort to build a relationship at the time.

"Not at all, it’s just a small company. Director Zhou is so busy, I wouldn’t dare trouble you. Besides, my relationship with Starlight Company was just a partnership," Zhuochuan said politely.

"How can it be a trouble? We’ve known each other for so many years. By the way, the hospital recently decided to replace a batch of electrocardiogram monitors. The procurement standards naturally follow Starlight Company’s, which must include your software’s functions. After the tender was issued, some companies were不服气 (unhappy) and tried to find fault, but when I brought them to the hospital, none of them said a word," Director Zhou shared another piece of information.

"Oh, I see. Thank you, Director Zhou. I’ll treat you to a meal when I have the chance," Zhuochuan thought. Starlight Company hadn’t said a word about this news, so he needed to quickly build a new cloud service platform and implement a fee structure. Otherwise, relying on them to voluntarily pay the fees was unlikely.

"Sure, sure, it’s an honor to be treated by a future scientist," Director Zhou, after a bit of persuasion, finally felt the relationship had been strengthened. He knew that once Zhuochuan’s paper was published, their positions would be reversed.

It’s no wonder he was so cautious. If he had revealed the principle during the clinical trials at the hospital, someone with ill intentions could have checked and found that it hadn’t been published in any journal, pieced it together, and published it first. Zhuochuan wouldn’t have the current glory.

After hanging up the phone, Zhuochuan shook his head. Previously, he had to rely on old connections to get help from Director Zhou, but in the future, Director Zhou would be eager to help him.

The Chinese people’s reverence for top scientific journals and their admiration for top scientists is not trivial, especially among older people.

This was just a small impact.

Throughout Monday morning, Zhuochuan was handling various emails from scientists around the world, especially medical and physiological experts, including many electrocardiogram specialists, who sent him various inquiries.

Zhuochuan patiently spent a lot of time replying to the first few emails but couldn’t bear the time consumption. He couldn’t possibly check which experts were more influential or famous, as he wasn’t part of the circle and couldn’t pick out the important ones. No one in the company could do that either.

He called in Manager Chen Zhengqian from the Business Department, gave him a template, and had him handle these emails, telling him to reply according to the template.

Zhuochuan’s reputation was now spreading among top experts worldwide, and he was beginning to gain international recognition.

In their emails, these experts not only asked about the knowledge in the paper but also inquired about Zhuochuan’s personal experiences. Many wanted to invite him to give lectures and courses.

Zhuochuan’s paper in *Nature* magazine was backed by a large number of repeated experiments and endorsed by thirteen professional reviewers. The successful repetition of the experiments told them that this achievement was scientific and had been extensively verified, not a fabricated major discovery.

However, it was only the first day, and only those in the field were paying attention. The impact of the paper hadn’t spread quickly yet. Zhuochuan’s day was relatively calm, except during lunch when he often heard other company employees on the same floor discussing the matter. As the main character, he was frequently mentioned, and many people said he was at least in his forties or fifties.
