Chapter 51

Gu Ying secretly peeked through the door crack, glanced at Ning Yi outside, and upon seeing him focused on stir-frying, turned her head and whispered, "What's wrong? Is there something wrong with his background?"

"Ning Yi's memory seems to have been sealed," Li Jiawei pursed her lips and whispered, "So I specially asked someone to investigate his background."

"The school records show that he is an orphan... However, I had someone look into it, and the social welfare home that recommended him to Nanling High School has no complete records of his life. The Xianling Middle School listed on the registration also has no record of Ning Yi's attendance."

"What?" Gu Ying was instantly stunned, "Do you mean that Ning Yi's life is all fabricated?"

Li Jiawei nodded, "Ning Yi told me that his memories before the age of fifteen are all blank. Combined with the results of my investigation, it can be confirmed that his memories before the age of fifteen were indeed erased artificially."

"Who could be so powerful to erase someone's memories?" Gu Ying asked in confusion.

"Teacher, you are not a martial artist, so you may not know about the world of martial artists. Some top-notch experts can indeed erase a person's memory," Li Jiawei paused, "But such experts are probably few in the entire Huaxia country. I am wondering what kind of identity Ning Yi has that would require such a high-level expert to erase his memory."

"Looking at Ning Yi's delicate and good-looking appearance, he couldn't be some abandoned rich family's son, could he?" Gu Ying frowned slightly, curious.

Li Jiawei took a sip of water, paused, and then secretly glanced at Ning Yi outside before continuing, "At first, I thought so too, but last night I got the latest information and found something strange and puzzling."

"How so?" Gu Ying's curiosity was fully piqued.

"There are no records of Ning Yi's identity at Xianling Junior High School, but according to the name 'Ning Yi,' I found related records in Haiyang District's Hailing Town and Hailing Junior High School. The records show that Ning Yi is from Hailing Town, with a father named Ning Tong and a mother named Bai Ying, both ordinary civilians. Ning Yi has an older sister named Ning Shuang, who is three years older than him."

"However, when Ning Yi was five and Ning Shuang was eight, their parents died in a car accident, reportedly hit by a very influential person. The details of who caused their deaths are still under investigation, but it is known that the influential person, fearing the news would damage his reputation, spent a lot of money to suppress the matter. In the end, the case was dropped, and the siblings received no compensation."

At this point, Li Jiawei's eyes suddenly reddened, "The siblings had no other relatives, so they had to rely on each other. The neighborhood aunties occasionally gave them some food out of pity. Most of the time, Ning Shuang had to take Ning Yi to beg on the streets to survive. A year later, the local social welfare home took them in, but they did not live well there. When Ning Yi was old enough to start primary school, the eleven-year-old Ning Shuang took him out of the welfare home to help others pick tea stems and sell socks on the street to earn money for Ning Yi's education. After Ning Yi had been in school for two years, misfortune struck them again."

At this point, Li Jiawei's voice was already tinged with sobs, and she paused for a long time before continuing, "According to their neighbors, one day after Ning Yi returned from school, he waited for his sister at home, but she never came. At the age of ten, he searched for two days and two nights and was eventually found unconscious under an overpass."

"The kind-hearted neighbors took him home and found that Ning Yi seemed to have changed, becoming dazed and confused. They had no choice but to send him back to the Hailing social welfare home, leaving him to fend for himself. However, it is said that Ning Yi studied very hard and had excellent grades. But strangely, after the junior high school entrance exam, Ning Yi disappeared. Later, he mysteriously entered Nanling High School as a graduate of Xianling Junior High School."

After saying this, Li Jiawei sighed deeply, looked at Gu Ying, and whispered, "Teacher Gu, you say how pitiful he is. I never thought someone's background could be so tragic. After reading his investigation report, I couldn't sleep last night."

"Turns out Ning Yi has such a tragic background, no wonder you are so protective of him," Gu Ying felt a lump in her throat after hearing Li Jiawei's words and sighed, "I thought you two had some inappropriate feelings... But to be honest, if Ning Yi has such a past as you said, it's unlikely he could suddenly become so powerful. Could you have mixed up two people?"

Li Jiawei shook her head, "No, I got Ning Yi's junior high school photos and confirmed it is definitely him."

Gu Ying was puzzled, "That's strange. You said Ning Yi is not a significant figure, so why would someone go to such lengths?"

"That's what I find strange too. You said Ning Yi and Ning Shuang have no background and no relatives... If that influential person was worried about them seeking revenge, it would be easy to deal with them. There's no need to hire a Green-level expert to seal his memory. A family that can hire a Green-level expert wouldn't care about revenge."

Gu Ying nodded, "Although I don't understand martial artists, I think you are right. But why are you against him using the Feng Ying family's donation to apply for university?"

"Teacher, think about it. Ning Yi's parents were hit in Haiyang District, so the influential person is likely in the Haixi District. In Haixi District, how many families could have Green-level experts?"

"You don't mean you suspect the Feng Ying family?" Gu Ying's expression changed.

"Until the truth is revealed, any of these major families could be the culprit," Li Jiawei looked at Gu Ying and then glanced at Ning Yi outside, whispering, "Newspapers often write articles hinting that Feng Ying's old man is a hypocrite who has a dark past."

"Hmph, those scoundrels only dare to defame the Feng Ying family because the old man is in seclusion. Once he comes out of seclusion, we'll see how they act," Gu Ying's expression was not good, and her ample chest even trembled slightly with agitation, forming an alluring curve.

Seeing this, Li Jiawei's face turned slightly red, and she whispered, "Teacher, I didn't mean to defame Feng Ying's old man." She almost forgot that Principal Gu and Feng Ying's old man seemed to have a good relationship.

Gu Ying looked at her and smiled, "It's okay, I was just momentarily upset."

She paused and continued, "In the past, all those major families rose to power with the help of the Feng Ying family. Now that the Feng Ying family has declined and the old man is in seclusion, those people are eager to take their place. More despicable is that I heard they are plotting to remove the old man from his positions at Nanling High School and Nanling University, citing his long absence. They are all wolves in sheep's clothing."

However, after saying a few words, Gu Ying realized she was talking to Li Jiawei and blushed, "Okay, I just said too much. I just can't stand it. Let's talk about Ning Yi. So you are worried that if it really was the Feng Ying family who hit Ning Yi's parents, then what will happen when Ning Yi finds out the truth..."

Li Jiawei shook her head, "Teacher, I am just suspicious right now. But I think the Feng Ying family wouldn't do such a thing. I am worried that those people might not let Ning Yi off."

"Oh, I see. So you want to protect him?" Gu Ying smiled.

"What? I don't have that idea at all," Li Jiawei's face turned red, and she glanced at Ning Yi through the door crack, whispering, "Teacher, please don't tell him about his background. His current abilities are no match for them."

"I understand, but since you said that, I think Ning Yi should sign up for the donation student exam. If it was the Feng Ying family, they definitely won't agree to give Ning Yi the spot. If not, they won't care. We can use this to test them."

"Teacher, you are right. So I now support him signing up."
