Chapter 5

The New Aurora Security Department is located on the 78th floor of the Empire Building, on the east side, just one wall away from the Marketing Department, which is filled with beautiful women. This wall is fully automated glass, and when someone approaches, it will part and slide open to either side, exuding a sense of technology.

Xiaozheng took two steps forward, about to pass through this evil glass that had hindered the development of friendships between departments. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a warning sign on the door: "Women and dogs, not allowed to enter."

"What's going on?" Xiaozheng's face showed confusion, and he marveled, "We all work for the same company and are assigned to the same floor. This is a great bond, so why does the Security Department have to be so aggressive, prohibiting the girls from the Marketing Department from visiting and engaging in healthy extracurricular activities? I'm starting to have doubts about this job."

Xiaozheng shook his head and entered, moving through several offices, but found them all empty and unusually quiet.

"Where has everyone gone? Didn't Lawyer Deng inform the Security Department? I thought my enthusiastic colleagues would hold a unique welcome ceremony for me..."

Xiaozheng casually lit a cigarette and walked deeper into the Security Department.

By chance, Xiaozheng pushed open the doors of the meeting room, the tea room, and the surveillance room, all of which were similarly empty. Confused, he headed towards the office marked "Security Captain." He couldn't help but complain, "It seems Lawyer Deng's influence isn't as great as I imagined."

Xiaozheng raised his hand to knock on the door and politely asked, "Is anyone there?"

"Come in!"

A woman's low, eerie voice came from inside the room. Though not loud, it sent shivers down his spine, as if she had a belly full of mischief, making people wary.

Xiaozheng turned the doorknob and was immediately startled by the scene inside.

The Captain's office, as expected, was several times larger than the standard four-person room for ordinary security guards. The large floor-to-ceiling windows made the office spacious and bright, with excellent lighting.

At that moment, nearly twenty security guards stood at attention in the office, their legs spread in a V-shape, their iron arms behind their backs, facing each other in two rows, creating a solemn atmosphere.

Xiaozheng tidied his clothes and, with a discerning eye, recognized the woman as the head of the Security Department. He greeted her with a smile, "I'm the new security guard. Please take care of me, Ma'am."

"Who is your Ma'am!?" Bai Yujiao sat down with a thud, the chair legs hitting the ground with a dull sound. She glared, "Stop trying to be friendly with me!"

Xiaozheng's expression froze, and he was about to defend himself when Bai Yujiao suddenly stood up, her hands on the desk, and said with a fierce look, "Do you know you're half an hour late?"

"Ah?" Xiaozheng opened his mouth in disbelief. "I haven't officially started yet..."

"Lawyer Deng called me half an hour ago, saying you would be here soon. But you were half an hour late!" Bai Yujiao slammed her hand on the desk and shouted, "Don't think I won't fire you just because you have connections! In the Security Department, the consequence of offending me, Bai Yujiao, is only one. Tell him what it is!"

"Get lost!"

Nearly twenty security guards, standing straight, shouted in unison.

Xiaozheng was truly stunned by their deafening shout, his lips twitching.

"Call me Captain Bai!" Bai Yujiao corrected.

"Yes, Captain Bai." Xiaozheng stood up straight and answered, then realized that his submissive posture made him vulnerable to brainwashing, so he relaxed his tense muscles and stood at ease.

"This is your first time being late, and I hope it's the last. Do you understand?" Bai Yujiao sternly demanded.

"Yes." Xiaozheng responded meekly.

"Louder! I can't hear you!" Bai Yujiao slapped the desk again, scaring the two security guards closest to the desk, who trembled and sweated.

"Yes!" Xiaozheng stomped his foot, almost saluting Bai Yujiao.

"Very good!" Bai Yujiao was somewhat satisfied with Xiaozheng's attitude, sat back down, and said to the group leader on the left, "Tang Ming. Take him to get his uniform and teach him the rules of our Security Department."

"Yes!" Tang Ming shouted loudly, clearly already well-trained...

"Dismissed! Return to your posts!"

The security guards, relieved, left the Captain's office. Xiaozheng, led by Tang Ming, headed towards the changing room.

"Brother, what's your relationship with Lawyer Deng?" Tang Ming asked casually on the way.

Without mentioning others, just think about the jobs you've had before. Which one would give you such a harsh welcome on your first day? To be honest, a guy was scared to tears on his first day last month and quit the next day."

Xiaozheng casually lit a cigarette and joked, "I won't be scared to tears by a young woman with early menopause."

Early menopause?

Tang Ming felt his scalp tingle and shushed, "Brother, never say bad things about Captain Bai behind her back. If she hears, she can make your life a living hell."

"Is that so? She's only in her twenties. Can she really do that? Maybe she was just dumped by her boyfriend and is venting her frustrations on us." Xiaozheng blew a smoke ring, not taking it seriously.

"It seems you really don't know Captain Bai's past." Tang Ming shook his head, full of apprehension.

"What past?" Xiaozheng asked curiously.

Tang Ming looked around like a thief, making sure no one was around, and then lowered his voice, "Captain Bai's real name is Bai Yujiao. A retired female officer. It's said she had a chance to become one of China's first female special forces, but her family strongly opposed it, forcing her to retire. Later, she became a police officer but was dismissed for violent law enforcement, causing a hooligan to suffer a concussion. She then came to our New Aurora Company to serve as the head of the Security Department. Don't be fooled by her age of 23; she is the only female champion in our Mingzhu City's free fighting scene. Five to eight strong men can't even get close to her."

"A female warrior!" Xiaozheng feigned surprise.

"Indeed. And she hates us, the connected ones, the most. She wants to kick us out of the Security Department at any opportunity. Her exact words are, 'Don't let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch.'" Tang Ming said helplessly.

"You have better connections than me. I'll need your help in the future." Xiaozheng politely offered a cigarette.

Tang Ming gladly accepted, "Let me tell you about the rules of our Security Department." He paused and continued, "The first and most important rule is to prohibit idle chatting with female employees of the company. Have you seen the sign at the entrance of our Security Department? 'Women and dogs, not allowed to enter.'"

Upon hearing this news, Xiaozheng was extremely disappointed. Even if our Security Department colleagues can hold back, don't they consider the feelings of those young, hormone-charged girls? This place is not a kingdom of women; it's a nunnery!
