When the two arrived at the resort, it was already late at night. Zhou Cheng, a friend of Yan Chong, came out to greet them. He led them to a single-family cottage while asking the chauffeur to send their luggage upstairs. He said, “The room is ready. It’s exhausting for you to come all the way here. Have some rest and we’ll gather tomorrow.”
Yan Chong seemed to be tired, and he had little interaction with him. After exchanging a few words, he took Xue Liang to the room. At first, Zhou Cheng doesn’t pay attention to the young people around him. It was only when he saw the two walk upstairs together that he suddenly remembered the recent rumours from his circle of friends: Don’t tell me that this ordinary-looking person is the humanoid canary that possesses remarkable abilities to capture Yan Chong?
At a rough glance just now, that man was just an ordinary college student. He looks just like an ordinary person. If he were to describe something strange about him, it would be his tall and straight posture and good temperament. But he still wouldn’t be better than those slim, sweet and graceful girls. What on earth does he rely on to make Yan Chong desperately in love?
Yan Chong shook his head and felt that if he wanted to go on, he would slide into the abyss. He is a straight man; he doesn’t want to fully understand what the gay people are thinking.
The second floor of the single-family cottage is bedrooms with a balcony connected in the middle. Xue Liang is satisfied with the spacious and comfortable large room. The only thing that feels awkward is that his room is next to the master bedroom and there is an extra door on the wall–in other words, Yan Chong can’t go through the main door. Just pull the door open and come into his room.
Yan Chong swept his hair back and came out of the bathroom. He found Xue Liang in the room, squatting while staring at the door lock. His soft-soled slippers stepped noiselessly across the floor. He walked behind Xue Liang and poked his lower leg using his foot, “Why haven’t you slept yet, are you studying how to pick a sliding door lock?”
Xue Liang looked at him with condemnation, “Why is there a door here?”
Yan Chong looked at him from top to bottom. He smiled grimly and stated, “Don’t worry, I don’t have a sleepwalking habit.”
Xue Liang said sadly, “Boss, of course I trust your character. But I can’t guarantee that you’ll get up at night and not mistake this door as the bathroom door.”
Yan Chong, “……”。
There were so many troughs that he didn’t know which sentence to refute first.
“Since you don’t trust my IQ this much,” Yan Chong said with cold look on his face, “Then you’ll sleep in the bathroom tonight”
Xue Liang smiled and looked up foolishly. Yan Chong looked at him for a moment, and then raised his hands to press his forehead, “You’re so heartless, and you’re still smiling. Wait for me to come and find you in the middle of the night.”
If Yan Chong said nothing about the door, Xue Liang would have paid more attention to it. If he joked about it, Xue Liang would feel more at ease.
Yan Chong is not friendly to everyone. He’s a little too cold and difficult to get close to, as if he’s very hard to please. The company’s staff is more revere to him than cordial. However, Xue Liang has been by his side for so long and more or less had figured out his temperament. Strict introverted people are not necessarily difficult to get along with. Yan Chong is extremely upright. Although he never boasts about himself, in his private life aspect, he can still be called an upright gentleman. At least Xue Liang had never seen him hang out with anyone. Even if he has to attend some special occasions, he will bring an assistant just in case.
And of course, with his over upright brain circuit, he can’t think of anyone else.
Xue Liang was driven back to his room by Yan Chong. Before leaving, he grabbed the frame of the door and smiled at Yan Chong with his neat little white teeth. Like a handsome fool, he waved goodbye enthusiastically and said, “Take care, Sir. Come and play often when you have time~”
Yan Chong, “……”
The next day, Yan Chong rarely slept until he woke up naturally. The curtains blocked the morning light, but not the birdsong sent by the breeze. He sank into the soft pillow and thought drowsily, “This bird sings pretty good.”
After a while, he got out of bed and pulled open the curtains in his nightgown. He went to the balcony and followed the sounds. He only then found out that there were tables, chairs, and tea sets. While drinking coffee, Xue Liang whistles with the chirping birds on the tree opposite each other, chatting enthusiastically.
If you ignored this comedic sketch of a human and a bird talking, then this scene was quite pleasant to look at.
Yan Chong dressed up neatly and went downstairs for breakfast. He sat down at the table and took a sip of coffee. He casually asked, “What were you guys talking about?”
Xue Liang calmly replied, “Nothing much. Just greeting them, and asked them if they ate or not.”
Yan Chong raised his eyebrows and looked at him, “Hmm?”
Xue Liang said in a deadpan voice, “It said what it ate this morning: flies, mosquitoes, ants, cockroaches, seeds, vegetable seeds, grasshoppers, breadcrumbs, big green bugs, small green bugs, seven-spotted ladybugs……”
"
"
Yan Chong choked on a mouthful of coffee.
His face turned green when he ‘announced the names of the dishes’. While that bastard Xue Liang rejoices in his misfortune and laughs so hard that he makes bird noises.
Several dogs barked outside the iron fence. The two men heard the noise, they looked back and saw Zhou Cheng leading two men and two women standing outside the door. Yan Chong hurriedly got up to greet the guests.
A group of people introduced themselves to each other in a variety of pleasantries. One of the two women was Cheng Jing, Zhou Cheng’s wife. The other woman was her younger sister Cheng Shan, holding a rapidly breathing black and white border collie in her hand.* The two men seem to have arrived together. The senior’s surname is Song, and Zhou Cheng respects him very much. 一口一个宋总. The younger man looks a little familiar. He seems to be nearly older than Yan Chong, his name is Han Bai Wen.
When the boss and his family were talking together, Xue Liang stood back and pretended that he was part of the surrounding scenery. But the young man surnamed Han glanced at him again and again. There was not much goodwill in his gaze, but with a suspicious look. Xue Liang let him stare until the hair on the back of his neck starts to stand, and force himself to regress. A little movement immediately attracted Yan Chong to watch, “What’s the matter?”
Han Bai Wen immediately replied, “Nothing. I think this gentleman looks a little familiar. Have we met before?” He asked Xue Liang, “Are you a student of X University ?”
Xue Liang nodded his head. Han Bai Wen said, “What a coincidence, I’m also a student of X University. What brings you here?”
Xue Liang frequently participates in school performances. It was not surprising that he was recognized. “I’m accompanying my boss on a business trip,” He replied succinctly.
Han Bai Wen gave a meaningful “Oh”. “I thought……” He shook his head and did not go on, but it was rather unfinished.
This made Xue Liang uncomfortable. If this was in normal times, he could have asked the man’s face directly. But now, his every movement is related to Yan Chong’s reputation. He could not act rashly, so he had to swallow silently.
Who knew the border collie who had been spinning at his feet suddenly broke away from the dog collar and ran out like a gust of wind. It was holding a small brown-coloured thing in its mouth, throwing with joy and wagging his tail back and forth to offer his treasure to its master. Cheng Shan was startled and involuntarily stepped back. Seeing that she was afraid, Xue Liang squatted down and took the small ‘prey’ from the dog’s mouth.
He looked intently and couldn’t help but laugh.
“What…is that?” Cheng Shan asked while trembling in fear.
Xue Liang said, “Hahaha, this really is a dog who catches mice.”
Xue Liang looked up at Han Bai Wen as if he was afraid that he did not hear him.
Han Bai Wen, “……”
Yan Chong bent down to see that he was holding a big-tailed squirrel in his hand. A wound on its hind leg was bitten by a sheepdog. It curled up in the middle of Xue Liang’s palm, squeaking in horror, and constantly trying to bite his finger with its front teeth. Xue Liang touched two hazelnuts from the nut plate on the table for it to hug and asked, “Are there any antibiotics? I’ll go back and patch it up.”
Yan Chong frowned and asked, “Can it be saved?”
“I don’t know, I’ll give it a try. I must not let it die,” Xue Liang said, “What if it’s an animal protected by the country?”
Cheng Shan moved closer cautiously, as if she wanted to reach out and touch the squirrel. Xue Liang slightly avoided her hand and kindly said, “Be careful, it will bite. I’m afraid there are parasites in wild animals. It’s better for only me to touch it.”
“Okay.” Cheng Shan nodded, and her face flushed. Seeing that Xue Liang wanted to go inside the house to take care of the squirrel’s wound, she also wanted to go with him and asked softly, “Do you like small animals?”
Xue Liang, “Yes, I do.”
Cheng Shan was desperately trying to find something to say, “How much do you like them?”
Yan Chong suddenly coughed heavily behind them. Xue Liang stomped his feet, and the light of the setting sun swept across his expressionless face. Then he turned his head and smiled at Cheng Shan, “Just…a lot”
