Chapter 4.1 New Invention
Although Sharon's experiment could not completely overthrow the fire element theory, at least it proved indirectly that this theory, which has been used for three hundred years, had loopholes. This made professor Claire waver.
Reiner’s next experiment completely denied the traditional combustion theory. Seeing it with her own eyes, she was completely stunned.
She felt dizzy. This was a magic backlash caused by the waver of willpower. Such a situation was very rare, and it only appeared when a Mage's foundation belief was impacted.
It was said that in ancient times, due to the establishment of many innovative systems, there were many mages who died due to such impacts; their heads would directly explode. However, in modern times, with the gradual improvement of people’s acceptance ability, no matter how novel theories were, they would not lead to such scenes. But backlash like this happened from time to time.
"Professor Claire, are you all right?"
Reiner hurriedly held professor Claire. At this time, he noticed that this woman's body was a bit too light and soft. After helping her sit down, Reiner hurriedly moved his hands away.
"I'm fine, just a little dizzy."
Professor Claire had no time to care about whether Reiner took the opportunity to take advantage of her, she was a little distracted. She began to realize that her initial stern words might be the resistance from the bottom of her heart that she was unwilling to accept the overthrow of her familiar theory.
"My water bottle..."
Hearing what professor Claire said, Sharon looked at the water bottle by the table and hurriedly brought it over.
This was the water bottle she carried with her. According to Reiner's memory, it should be some kind of special potion made by professor Claire herself, which could cure her chronic illness.
But when he opened the lid of the pot, Reiner smelled a slightly familiar smell.
"Sweet?"
It was a rich and sweet smell. Reiner saw that after she poured the brown-black liquid from the water bottle into a cup and drank it, she recovered a little. He couldn't help being curious.
"Uh, professor Claire, can I taste some of your potion?"

As soon as Reiner said what he said, the atmosphere on the scene became awkward for a while.
Sharon didn't know what to say, and professor Claire's face reddened.
"Are you making fun of me, Mister Principal?"

She said rhetorically, seemingly to think that Reiner was taking the opportunity to tease her.
"No, no, no, because I feel that I seem to have seen it somewhere before, so I want to confirm it. If I have offended you in any way, I apologize."
Reiner explained in a hurry. He didn't want the good impression that he had built up to be ruined instantly.
Perhaps Claire had never seen Reiner having such a humble attitude, or maybe she was a little embarrassed for her arbitrariness, she poured a little potion into an empty cup and gave it to Reiner.

"Let me make it clear first, this doesn't mean that I believe your words. I'm giving it to you because you begged me."
Hearing what professor Claire said, Reiner smiled helplessly, then picked up the water cup and took a sip of the potion inside.
Immediately, it was as if some kind of spark had been lit up in Reiner's mind, his eyes widened slightly, and he froze in place.
Seeing his appearance, professor Claire hurriedly put away her water bottle and muttered to herself.
"He wanted to drink it himself, I didn't force him..."
"Principal?"
Sharon waved her hand in front of Reiner. Only then did Reiner recover and look back at the brown-black liquid in the cup.
If Reiner's taste didn't have a problem, this should be some kind of special sugar water with moderate sweetness.
And the chronic illness of professor Claire, who needed regular sugar supplements, was probably low blood sugar levels.
But these were not the main points. Reiner thought of something else.

He got up and came to the experimental platform. He mixed the carbon dioxide they had just collected with the sugar water. It could be seen that bubbles soon began to emerge in the sugar water, like cola on the earth.
"Can you make this a little bit colder for me?"
Reiner said to professor Claire, pointing to the two cups of liquid mixed with carbon dioxide.
Feeling suspicious, but not saying much, professor Claire immediately cast a spell to lower the temperature, causing a layer of hoarfrost on the surface of the cup.
Seeing this familiar thing, Reiner felt nostalgic for a while, and took a sip of the soda in it.
There was no doubt that this was quite similar to Cola on Earth.
Praise chemistry.
Seeing the intoxicated expression on Reiner's face, professor Claire was a little curious. After adding that special gas to her potion, would it really taste good?
Noting the look in professor Claire's eyes, Reiner handed her another cup.

"Would you like to try?"
Professor Claire hesitated. On the one hand, this was her potion, and the strange gas had no taste, so the combination of the two would not have any special effect. On the other hand, the bubbling potion seemed to emit a certain magical power, tempting her to try it.
After thinking about it, professor Claire took the cup and sipped a sip of the cold liquid.
“! ! !”
An unprecedented feeling immediately enveloped her.
There seemed to be fireworks on the tip of the tongue, and the extremely stimulating feeling filled her mouth. For a moment, she even wanted to spit out the liquid in her mouth directly.
But the next moment, the fresh and sweet smell enveloped her throat, the original fierce impact disappeared and turned into a cool wave, with endless aftertastes. Even until it was all swallowed, she still had a lingering taste in her mouth.
Closing her eyes, she felt that she had come to the clear and cold pool, and the feeling of satisfaction and comfort penetrated her body through the skin, making her feel that she was about to melt into running water.
She felt top-heavy, as if she could float up and fly into the sky at any time, and for a moment, she even suspected that Reiner had given herself some psychedelic drug.
But this was clearly the taste of her own potion, but because the impact brought by the stimulating gas and coldness was too strong, she also lost in it.
Seeing professor Claire's expression, Reiner knew that this drink also had an unstoppable charm for people in this world. He handed the cup that professor Claire had put down to Sharon and signaled the student to taste it.
Sharon took the cup, looked at the bubbles that kept coming out of it, and took a sip. Her eyes suddenly widened as the bubble-filled liquid got into her mouth.
Carbonic acid was separated from the sugar water and turned into carbon dioxide. This process absorbed a lot of heat and made Sharon feel refreshed and comfortable.
The original ordinary sugar water, after this treatment, actually had a stimulating feeling. It made Sharon immediately energetic.
It could be said that she had never drunk such a drink.
For a moment, Sharon seemed to be on the Brynhildr snowfield in the extreme north, and all the heat of early summer was dispelled by the cold wind. She almost exclaimed in a low voice.
However, Sharon resisted the urge to drink all of it. She looked at the cup in her hand, a little reluctant to let it go. This drink really had some magical power, urging her to take another sip.
"What is this thing?"
Sharon couldn't help asking.
"Professor Claire's potion, as you can see."
Reiner glanced at Professor Claire, who was still immersed in the dreamy taste of soda, and then explained.
"It's just that I added this special gas and chilled it, so it has a different taste. In my hometown, there is a similar drink. If you want, you can call this thing Cola."

Luna Nova Magical Academy was located in a remote place. While Reiner was from a big city. No one doubted that he had seen some strange food and drink.
Through reading the memory, Reiner realized more things, so he changed the subject.
"I think this thing can be used as a source of school funding."
