CHAPTER XV

The Fake

I was just staring at the stage dumbfounded. The hall was in full cheer but I seemed to not hear them.

Everyone was in celebration. My eyes were looking for the Headmaster seeking for an explanation. He’s also looking back at me very seriously. I understood that expression; he wanted to explain.

Was I disappointed because I wasn't the ‘other half’ of the Mistress? Or was I happy because my problem has lessened?

“We expect you all to protect Victoria at all cost with Claude as the lead.”

The cheers got louder. They're very determined to protect the Mistress.

“We won’t give up the Mistress for the personal interest of the Realm. We will protect Victoria.”

All the people were smiling, even Victoria’s father was very proud of her.

“It was actually Victoria who's the other half of the Mistress. I’m so jealous!” Clover cried at me. Her eyes were also shining.

I’m walking by the hallway of the school and right next to me was Clover as we walk to class. I was still thinking about the announcement earlier.

At any rate, Victoria was more suited to be the Mistress. She's strong and she's one of the top Majes.

At least now, the things I should worry were reduced.

“I’ll go to the comfort room first. You can go ahead, Clover.”

“Hurry up, okay,” she walked away.

I was about to run the corner for the comfort room but I thought I heard someone calling me.

“Cenedy Aceil!”

“Cenedy Aceil!”

It came from a vacant classroom.

I got curious and entered. A child was sitting there.

“Headmaster,” it was Sugar, our Headmaster.

Then, I noticed he’s not alone. He's with Claude… and Clover?

“Why are you here?”

Claude was at the corner of the room, his hands on his pockets; while Clover was in front, smiling at me.

“Ask that snotty child. I was about to go to the classroom when I was sent here,” Clover defended. Thus, my eyes turned to Claude.

“I’m here because he said that you're here,” Claude said as he turned his gaze to the window.

So this was like a mini meeting? I asked myself. What will it be all about?

“Why did you ask us here, Headmaster?” but Sugar just looked straight at me.

“I already told Rhoanne and Aiden about this,” as we silently listened to him, Sugar suddenly changed into his adult form.

“I want all of you to patrol outside the academy every night. The Academy’s condition had been dangerous lately especially now everyone learned who the other half of the Mistress is.”

He walked slowly towards the window and looked up at the sky.

“Is Ross involved in the disturbances happening now?” Claude asked. If I wasn't mistaken, Ross was the person who hurt Aiden a few weeks ago.

“Uhm, yes.”

Claude’s hand clenched. His eyes showing that he wanted kill someone.

“I also learned that there are Sceillians seen loitering outside the Academy’s ground and they're not registered under this area.”

“Wa…wait, but why am I here? You know that I don’t have a Sceill,” I cut in. I can’t even save myself so how did they want me to save the Academy?

“Uhm, yeah, Cenedy, I think it’s a good idea since you’ve seen Ross. And I know the Majes won't mistreat you, right Claude?” he turned to Claude, who gave him a sharp look in response.

“Yey, we've got Ceny! I won't be left out then!”

It was good that Clover was happy, at least. She was even jumping as if we're to go in a party.

“I’m leaving, old man. I've got things to do,” Claude said. Then he's gone just like a bubble.

“I just have something to tell to you, Aceil Cenedy. Clover, you may go first.”

In a few minutes, the bell would be ringing, though. Clover looked at us curiously.

“I'll just give her instructions for tonight, things she may do.”

Clover’s face eased up and finally walked out of the room.

It took a while before he finally spoke. He just looked up in sky so I turned curious. Claude and Sugar loved to look at it.

“Victoria is not the real Mistress.”

A short sentence that ruled me into a lot of questions. If not, then why did Hiso (High Society) announced that she was?

Sugar mopped his hands on his face in frustration. I just noticed that he looked really tired and he seemed to be carrying something heavy inside him.

“Aceil Cenedy, I don't know who to trust anymore. I don't know who the enemy is.”

Sugar seemed so confused. His eyes already have dark circles. He even looked like crying.

“What do you mean by that, Headmaster?” I asked in curiosity. I thought I was the only one who had problems with trust issues.

“Hiso wanted Victoria to become the Mistress. They plan to make all the Sceillians follow them in all they want.”

My jaw dropped. It's the same thing those fighting against the academy wanted.

“From out there to our inside, I don't know what to do. As of now, you're the only one I can trust. The real reason why I want you to join them is because I want to know the reason why our enemies are attacking the Academy.”

I decided to do what Sugar wanted. I’ve been hiding for many years, maybe I should do something now. I don't want to be afraid of what will happen to me forever while also knowing that many people will be affected.

“Okay, Sugar, I’ll do it.”

It was late when I got back to Gein. After the class, I was immediately teleported to the Headmaster’s office. He told me a lot of things.

Our patrol will start tomorrow. I knew it was because of me, since I wasn't really ready yet. Everything was so new for me. He also gave me a ring that would serve as my protection if there would be any explosions to happen.

I tiptoed knowing that Clover might hear my footsteps. When I entered the room I quickly changed my clothes. I also took some chocolates because I haven't had my dinner.

When I walked to the terrace, one Claude Vyel Cynnvoc greeted me. He was sleeping while sitting on my terrace floor. What was he doing here?

I held his shoulder and shook him awake.

“Claude.”

“Claude!”

His eyelashes were really long. I felt envious. He’s on simple black V-neck shirt and jeans; far different from his usual aura that's so intimidating.

“Aceil,” he finally woke up.

“Why are you here? Do you need something?”

He stood up and walked to me. But the next thing he did was beyond my expectation.

He hugged me.

The warmth of his body was far opposing the cold of the surroundings. He smelled so good. I felt so safe when I was with him. Maybe because he’s my guardian.

“Sorry, Aceil.” Why was he even apologizing?

“What are you talking about, Claude? It wasn't your fault,” but he has yet to let go of me. He was so tall and his shoulders were broad so I felt small, myself.

“I’m sorry because I’m not watching over you lately.” So he's watching over me? Why was I not informed?

“You don't have to watch over me.”

I escaped from his arms and then looked up at his eyes. His eyes were full of concern, very different from his usual expressionless face.

“I will sleep here tonight,” he said as he strode inside my room.

I abruptly pulled the curtain in surprise because of his last sentence. Was he joking?

“Wa… what are you saying?”

“I should have done this a long time ago. I was only always outside and it was too cold!” he sulked. He swiftly jumped into my bed and then covered himself with my blanket.

“Who told you to stay outside my room in the first place? Claude just go home, will you?”

He suddenly got up from bed and sat over.

“Can you look at my eyes? The eyebags became too big after watching over you. I haven't have a good sleep yet.” And then he slumped into my bed again and smelled my pillow.

“It smells good here.” I simply watched him. This one was such a different Claude.

“Okay, now, you don't have to watch over me. That’s an order,” was he serious about sleeping on my bed? He must be going mad.

“As you wish, Master.” But he still did not get up from his covers.

“Claude, why are you doing this?”

“What do you think? Do you know that in ancient tradition, the Master and Guardian live together in the same house? Thus, this is just fine," he said while still wrapped up. I heard him sniffing under my blanket like a dog.

“That was before, Claude, maybe a few millennia ago. So get out now because I’m going to sleep.”

He didn't even move a finger. Probably—asleep? I felt guilty. He was telling the truth about his eyebags.

It should be fine. It's only for tonight.

“Hey, Claude, wake up and go to the sofa. You can't sleep on my bed,” I shook him. We can't sleep together. I wasn't even accustomed with having someone in my room.

He suddenly stood up and laid down on the couch.

“It would be nice to have your bed, but it’s okay than either the terrace or the roof of your room.”

I was guilty with that. The so-called top Maje of the school was slaved by me.

I have to go to bed now, though, since when I slept late, I'd have nightmares and started speaking in my sleep and even sleepwalk. That's why, sometimes I found myself by the terrace or by the door of my room. It’s a good thing lately that I only had dreams and no longer sleepwalking.

I wonder what will happen tomorrow? My eyes turned towards Claude who's on the couch. He was in deep sleep but I noticed he was shivering with the cold. I got up, took out the extra blanket and covered him.

As I watched him over, I still can't believe he's my guardian. I thought I would never have a guardian since I was a Scape. It was even surprisingly since one Claude Vyel became my Guardian.

It’s also another good thing that he didn't snore because guardian or not, Maje or not, I was really going to kick him out.

I was returning to my bed when I heard Claude said…

“At last I found you … A … Aceil, my Master.”

I guess, I wasn't the only sleep-talking.

I'm really not fond of writing using present tenses but the author's style in writing is more suitable with it, especially since it's a 1st person POV. So, as we've said last time, the author hasn't finished this novel and has no update since last year. We also learned that the author was writing over her phone so there were lots of typos. Although her current chapters reached 40+, we're in a dilemma whether to continue our translations when we saw her novel status: Under Construction. CHAPTER XVI

Unexpected Night

Why is it like something heavy is crushing me? And especially on my abdomen? Wait, this is not the smell of my pillow. From what I remember the fabric conditioner I used is the strawberry scent.

But I didn’t say that it’s smelly, it smells good somehow like a musky scent. So I decided to cuddle even more on my new found pillow.

It smells really good, the smells seem familiar. I feel the brightness even when my eyes are still close. The sun already rises. Why didn’t my alarm clock rings?

When I opened my eyes. My eyes open wider…

A well-toned chest is the first thing I see.

“Good morning master!” Claude’s naughty smile greeted me.

“AAAHHHHH.” I kick him continuously causing him to fall from the bed. Why are we sleeping together?

“That hurts Aceil, what’s your problem?” He said while rubbing his butt.

“WHAT? ARE YOU ASKING ME? WHY ARE YOU IN MY BED?” I don’t care if my voice is loud. The room is soundproof so its okay.

“Hey… whatever you are thinking… just think it.” He smirks.

“What did you say?” I throw the pillows to him. What did he think he is doing?

“Relax! You had a nightmare at dawn. I wake you up but you didn’t wake up. I decided to guard you I fell asleep.” He smiles. It seems like he is hiding something from me.

“Why is your face like that? Are you hiding something?” The expression on his face is different. Like he knows something that I don’t.

“Admit it. Wait, don’t dodge it!” I’m throwing him things anything I pick up, like comb, alarm clock, picture frame. Just to squeeze the things that he won’t tell me.

“Hey…wait, it hurts. I’m just happy that you are calling my name in your dream. You finally accepted that I’m your guardian.” He said with a wide smile.

“I’m calling you?”

“Before you say a different name, it was Danny or Dan if I’m not wrong.” He explained while picking up the things that I throw at him.

Isn’t he going to ask who is Danny or Daniel? I stay silent. He might ask.

“I won’t ask anything unless you will say it yourself. I’m just your guardian and you are my master. I am not entitled to question you.” He said seriously. I just noticed now that I really don’t talk to Claude about myself. I don’t want him to know everything about me.

It is better that he is contented of the idea that he found his master and not ask things.

But I also acknowledge the fact that things about me won’t keep a secret to Claude. He will know it in the future, but not now. Not until I graduated in this Academy.

“He is a very close friend. A brother as I may say.” I said in a soft tone. I really don’t like to talk thing about the people who are part of my life.

“It’s good that there is a person who cares for you. But always remember that I’m also here to protect you. I’ll go now. I’m going to take a shower first. Or Unless you want me to live here or maybe you stay in my room, it’s bigger compared to this small space of yours. There kitchen…”

“Will you please leave now Claude if you don’t want me to throw my cabinet at you.” I didn’t know that Claude is playful. This side of his is cute. It’s nice that he is not shy to show this side of him to me.

“See you this night Aceil.” With that, he teleported somewhere.

It makes me somewhat nervous.

What will happen tonight? I might become a burden to them. I don’t want someone to get hurt because of me again.

“Cenedy wake up! You are being called to the Headmaster’s Office.” One of classmate shakes me. I didn’t notice that I fell asleep in the middle of class.

Since they learned that I know the Majes there are some students who talk to me.

“Thanks for waking me up.” I walk out of the room. About Clover, I’m sure that she is already in the office.

“Cenedy!” It’s Jino from behind.

“Oh Jino.” I suddenly remember Clover and his situation. It’s so sad. Though I haven’t fallen in love I know that they are in a very difficult situation.

“Let’s go together.” Oh right, Jino is also with us because Clover is his master.

“Ah Jino, about clover… how…” How to ask their situation without discovering that I know Clover has feelings for him.

When we entered inside, Rhoanne, Clover, Aiden, Victoria, Sugar, and Claude are already there. All of their faces look serious. They are sitting in the living room area of this office except for Claude who is standing beside where Victoria is sitting.

I seated opposite to him and beside me is Aiden. Rhoanne and Clover are sitting abreast each other while Jino is standing behind Clover.

“Thank you, Headmaster.”

“And why is she here?” Victoria ask me immediately. I notice a little venom in her voice. What is her problem with me?

“I invited her because she can help Victoria. Only Claude, Rhoanne, Aiden and Cenedy Aceil saw Ross face.” Victoria went silent. The annoyance in her face can still be seen. I guess she’s not that happy when I’m around.

“So you are here Louie.” Perceptor Louie just entered inside. Is he going to help on our patrol?

“He is the guardian of Victoria,” Aiden whispers to me. So it’s Perceptor Louie, why didn’t I know that? Because it’s not him who is always with Victoria.

Perceptor Louie went to Victoria’s side while Claude teleported…

“Tss,” Aiden muttered. Do they have an argument? Until now they still haven’t reconciled with each other?

“I ask all of you to come here because I will group you. Each team will have two people. I ask Kyrstal and Jella to go to the back gate early.”

I know that Jella is Aiden’s guardian. Maybe Krystal is Rhoanne’s guardian.

“Clover you will go with Jino, Rhoanne you’re with Claude and Aiden you fo with Cenedy Aceil.”

“Bu…but.” Claude is about to speak when Sugar stops him.

“That’s final.” Sugar firmly said.

“Poor Aiden, together with a burden.” It’s only weak but I am sure at Victoria said. She really has a problem on me.

“Where are we?” I ask him. He handed me a paper bag.

I remember now, I really don’t have clothes for the cold. How would I know that I will go out during the night? I just keep quiet and takes out what Claude bought me.

I walk hurriedly to the toilet and change.

I also noticed that there’s a shampoo for women, there’s a pink and a black toothbrush. There’s also two folded towels in the side of the sink as well the robe.

I examined the whole room. All the things are in black and white, the others are black and gray. You can also smell a manly scent in the whole room. It smells like Claude.

O the side of the bed is his and Sade’s picture. How nice, Claude is laughing in it.

“Aceil, do you want to watch a movie first? I’m still cooking.” I heard Claude said from the kitchen.

He is cooking? He knows how? I immediately walk to the kitchen to check.

“You know how to cook?” I asked him. He is wearing a white color apron and he is looking at me. He smiled.

He walks to me and takes thee rubber band in my pocket. He walks behind me and gently make my hair into a ponytail.

“There, so it won’t be hard for you later. And to answer your question, yes, I don’t want the servants to cook they might put poison or I might not like the taste.” He said smiling.

He is humming while cooking.

“You know what Claude you’re so paranoid.” I just shakes my head.

“I just want to do it right Aceil. I want to compensate to the years that I didn’t protect you.”

I went silent at what he said.

I avoided his eyes.

“Aiden, you’re early.” It’s still six. We need to be in our position at six thirty.

“Wait, why is he here?” Aiden asked he saw Claude who escorted me. Claude it is still too early and Aiden might not be there yet so he accompanied me.

“Ceeennnyyy!!!” I almost lost my balance when Rhoanne hugs me from behind.

“Rhoanne, I can’t breath.” She’s hugging me too tight. And might think that we haven’t seen each other in years.

“It’s just annoying, why aren’t we partners? And why is that I’m with Claude ‘Cold’?” She pouted. If I’m man, I’m sure that I will have a crush on Rhoanne, she’s beautiful minus the attitude.

“Can’t you be silent for a moment Rhoa?!” Claude outburst to her.

“Hey Claude, you might be my Ceny’s guardian but you can’t hide her from us.” This might turn into a fight…

Rhoanne also know that Claude is my guardian?

I glared at Claude, while he can’t seem to look at me.

“Hahahaha, if you only know Ceny. At the time when he learned that you are his master he was smiling he entire day as if he was very excited. When Aiden and I asked him why, he couldn’t help but told us. Hahaha.”

I immediately glared at Claude. He didn’t kept our agreement.

I can’t do anythig if its like that. I think it might be okay, at least they won’t wonder why Claude is always with me like a shadow.

“Let’s go Cenedy.” Aiden pulls me.

“We can meet each other tomorrow.”

“Stay here Cen, I will guard.” Aiden said. There still the academy’s barrier at the area where I’m standing which means the others outside can’t see me.

“B..but.”

“I will bring you later, you can rest I know you are tired from our walk.” With that he walks away.

I know I can’t fulfill Sugar’s order if I will stay here hiding. That’s why even though it’s dangerous but I decided to go on my way. Opposite at Aiden’s location.

I’ve been walking for a while in the forest but I can’t see a single person or a suspicious movement around.

“Acckk.” Someone covered my mouth. How unlucky of me! I should have listened to Aiden! Waaaaa.

I shouldn’t have joined the mission. What if they will kill me? What a misery life, I’m already a scape yet I will die early.

“Didn’t I say that you stay there? You really have a hard head Cen.”

I thought it was someone, thank goodness it’s Aiden.

“We’re here.” I heard a voice not from where we are.

“Shhh.” Aiden holds my hand and walks near where the voice comes from. It’s just a few meters away from us.

No, no, no, I know that voice. Why? I was about to walk near them to confirm my suspicion…

“Cen, let’s stay here they might saw us.” I can’t hear Aiden speaking. The most important things is to confirm.

Chapter XVII

Asking

“Cenedy, you’re not listening.”

“Uh…ha what did you said again?” We’re inside the headmaster’s office. We are all here to report the result of our mission.

The discussion is supposed to be tomorrow but because of what Aiden and I saw, he insisted to have a meeting.

My mind is still occupied with questions about Daniel. Why is he with Realm?

“We saw a man together with Ross that’s observing the surroundings of the Academy,” Aiden informed. Everyone is watching him.

“Are you okay Aceil?” Claude secretly whispers on my back. I guess he sensed that I’m unstable since earlier.

“I…I am okay, why won’t I?”

“Did you see the face of the man that’s with Ross?” Sugar asks. Everyone seems to be focusing on Aiden’s answer.

“Not me, but Cenedy probably did.” They automatically shifted their gaze on me.

“Did you see it Cenedy Aceil?” I become nervous at his question. Sugar intrusted me with this. I’m the only one he trusted. Can I actually betray him? Or betray the only man who cares for me ever since?

What am I supposed to do?

They’re waiting for my answer.

“Uh… yes, I saw him.” I will not tell them that I personally know the person. Not until the moment that I will learn why. This time I will just tell them the fact that I saw him.

Sugar nodded and speaks again.

“I want to introduce to everyone Jaymi Hinamori. She has a sceill of memory. She can show you the persons that Cenedy Aceil saw earlier.” A Sveta woman comes out from the door. Thick and big round glasses. She has braces and her skirt is long that’s beyond her knees.

“He…hello, I’m Jaymi Hinamori. You don’t need to introduce yourselves because I already know all of you.”

“M…miss Hol…Holsden All you have to do is to think the moment when you saw him. It’s simple as that.” She said while smiling.

I take a step back away from her. What if she will learn that I know Daniel?

“It’s fine Miss Holsden, my power is also limited. I can’t reach the memories that you don’t want to show me.” She assured me.

She touches my forehead. It’s okay Cenedy, you just have to focus. You only need to think about what happens earlier.

I feel her palms warming. And it flashbacks in my mind what happened earlier.

When I open my eyes I saw Jaymi heavily panting.

“A…are you alright?” Is this normal? I only has seen now a sceillian having difficulties when using their abilities.

Everyone is worried. You can see it in their faces.

“Are you okay Miss Hinamori?”

Sugar asks while supporting and helping her to stand up.

“Uh yeah. Actually, this is the first time that I become like this but I’m fine.” She eyed me as if examining every bit of me. Did I do something wrong?

She touches each and everyone’s forehead. And from the sight of it, I know that they saw my memory.

“You can leave now Miss Hinamori. Thank you for helping.” Sugar said with gratitude. Jaymi is still looking at me.

She was about to leave but when she passed by my direction she whispers something to me.

“You have a lot of secrets, or should I say that you have a very dark past.” My eyes widen. She saw all of my memory?

“Did you learn something?” The hairs on my body have goosebumps. Even my insides were trembling. How did she know?

“I don’t know anything Miss Holsden, I just felt it. The reason why I felt weak earlier because of your experiences. I don’t know what it was but I’m sure it was not good.” I feel relieved. But I don’t like her ability. It will make anyone wonder about me.

“It’s better if you don’t know anything, Miss Hinamori.” Then I left. I didn’t finish the meeting. I told them that I’m tired so they let me go first.

Rhoanne kissed me goodbye while I was shocked at what Aiden did. He actually hugged me. It had been a long time since he did that. I missed it.

The room is dark so when I switch on the light I was surprised.

“It’s Daniel, Claude.” A trace of bewilderment can be seen on his face.

“What do you mean it’s Daniel?” He asks. I think he knows what I mean, he is worried over something.

“The man I saw is Daniel.” I can’t help but say it. The tears that I’ve been trying to restrain finally falls.

I don’t know, I’m not the crying type of person. Maybe because of what’s happening lately. It accumulated in me maybe that’s why I’m crying like this.

“It’ll be okay Aceil, don’t cry.” He’s wiping my tears.

“He is the only one I trusted in my entire life, Claude. I didn’t know that he is a traitor. It didn’t even register in my mind. He is a good man and I love him so much. He is the one who gave me hope.” I totally burst out. I don’t care if Claude’s coat becomes wet.

“Shhh, you said it yourself that you are not sure yet. So don’t assume Aceil. Save yourself from being hurt. I don’t want to see you cry.” Claude hugs me.

I feel safe in his arm. I know it’s because he is my guardian. If I didn’t let it out I know I will burst. It’s too much.

All of the bullying, the mysteries, and the questions I was able to take it. But this, it’s too much. I’m hurting.

“You wanna sleep in my place? I can’t sleep if you’re like this, crying.” He holds my hand.

“No Claude, I want to be alone right now. I want to think clearly.” I know the way he nods he already understands.

“But in one condition, I need you to promise me one thing.” He said while looking in my eyes.

CHAPTER XVIII

A Night With The Mistress

I know who you are Aceil Cenedy.

My whole body froze. The way my name is in order is a proof that it really knows me.

My true name is Aceil Cenedy, not Cenedy Aceil. I change the order so that my initials would change as well. Because in the record of the Academy, your name is not important it will appear as an initial followed by your surname. Then my false initial appears as CA. Holsden.

I did it, actually, Daniel did it to hide my identity to all people who will try to find me.

“So what’s your order as the Mistress?” I ask. So being mistress is like a title being passed on? Is that it?

“I’m the second.” I saw the sadness in her eyes. Is being a mistress lonely? MAybe if it’s a different person that got the title, I’m sure she will act like a quees. But this lady in front of me ha a very kind soul.

“So what did I do to be your other half?” This is the question that I want answers when I learned from Sugar told me his suspicion that I’m really the other half of the Mistress.

Chapter XIX

Her Revelation

“I’m a Scape myself Aceil Cenedy.”

Did I hear it right? Last time I check my hearing is good. Why is that I keep hearing things? The mistress has no power? Lol, who am I kidding?

I studied the place, it’s the healers quarter.

“Why am I here?” I ask. I don’t have any illness.

“You’ve been unconscious for three days Cenedy. Since the night of the mission, you didn’t wake up until this day. The healers didn’t find anything wrong with you. They did some tests on you but they didn’t really find any sickness or wounds.”

If it’s like that, I was stuck in my dreams for three days?

“Tell me, what happened before you blacked out?” He asks in concern.

“It’s nothing Aiden, I’m fine.” I don’t want to drag him again. He is too delicate for that.

“Is it because of…”

“Please Aiden, I need to rest. I’m exhausted.”
