In the Country of Grass, vast plains and forests dominate the landscape, forming the primary terrain of the nation. Such a country should be an ideal place for those who enjoy tranquility to live, but unfortunately, it lacks the strength to protect itself.
The Village Hidden in the Grass is nothing more than a joke, trying to imitate other ninja villages but failing to do so. Sandwiched between two great nations, it can only serve as a battlefield to be trampled upon. For this reason, the Country of Grass, which has little military power, attracts wandering ninja from all over the world, such as the Uzumaki clan, whose homeland was destroyed, and the Senju clan, who live in seclusion...
"So, what can I eat tonight?" In a small forest to the north of the Country of Grass, a boy no more than five years old mumbled to himself, hiding in the shadows of the trees.
The boy's black eyes quietly gazed into the depths of the forest, hoping that the trap he had set would catch some unfortunate animals. "It would be best to catch a wild boar; I've never tasted wild boar meat. But am I being too greedy? A rabbit would be nice for such a small trap." The boy thought to himself, his dark red hair gently blown by the evening breeze. Despite the red color, which is usually very noticeable at night, it seemed to have been dyed with black ink, giving it a sinister look that blended into the dark forest. His name is Genya. His parents had disappeared in the war, and he only knew from his memories and the items left by his parents that his father's surname was Senju and his mother's surname was Uzumaki.
"Got it!" A white-furred rabbit was caught in the simple trap. "Tonight's dinner is secured. I'm tired of eating rabbit every day. Rabbits are so cute, but unfortunately, there's no chili." Genya still had the memories of his previous life, especially the memories of the ninja world.
"What's the use of these silly memories? I'm a Senju, but I can't even use Wood Release. I don't even know how to cultivate chakra, and I might die any day from encountering a large wild beast." Genya said, making an international friendly gesture to the sky. "I'd better eat quickly and leave; the forest at night is not safe."
After finishing tonight's dinner, Genya followed the familiar path back to the village, which could no longer be called a village, and to the place that could no longer be called home. "This broken village has no one. Living like this every day, I'm about to become a recluse."
With nothing to do, Genya lit a candle made from lamp oil collected from the village ruins and began to study the items left by his parents. From his bag, he took out a small piece of cloth with the Senju clan emblem and another with the Uzumaki clan emblem. These items seemed to prove that Genya had a powerful bloodline. There were also three important scrolls, which, when opened, had the word "Seal" written in the middle, indicating that they contained something significant, possibly jutsu or the heritage of the Senju and Uzumaki clans.
"Ah, I have these powerful-looking scrolls, but I don't recognize the writing of this world, and I don't know how to break the seals." Genya looked at the scrolls on the table, tears streaming down his face. "I guess I need to find a chance to go to a more normal village to learn about this world."
After studying for a while, Genya gave up, put the scrolls and cloth pieces back under the bed, and began his daily training. Although it was called training, without chakra, it was more like physical exercise. With the various training methods from his previous life, such as push-ups, sit-ups, and squats, Genya, though only five years old, had already reached the physical strength of a genin, and even exceeded it.
"It seems that my dual Sage bloodline from the Senju and Uzumaki clans is really useful, not a fake." After finishing his training, Genya stood still, calming his breath, and thought, "I recover so quickly, unlike in my previous life when running was a matter of life and death."
After finishing his training, Genya cleaned himself up, daydreamed for a while, and then went to rest. With no entertainment and no one to talk to, he had to worry about survival every day. Despite having the memories of two lives, his current body was still that of a child, and he soon fell asleep.
The day before, in the largest tent of the Konoha front-line camp in the Country of Grass, several ninja sat silently at a table, their faces filled with gravity. Finally, a ninja sitting at the head of the table broke the silence, "The Iwagakure ninjas have been very active recently, with unprecedented frequency. Many of our hidden sentries in the Country of Grass have been eliminated. Kakashi, what do you think about this?"
A young ninja with golden hair looked up and said, "The sudden aggressive actions of the Iwagakure ninjas suggest that they are planning something big. With the hidden sentries eliminated, it seems best for our team to investigate."
"Very well." The ninja at the head of the table, who appeared to be from the Nara clan, nodded lightly. The Nara clan, known for their innate intelligence, often took on the role of commanders.
"Then, our team will set out at dawn tomorrow. I'll go back and make the necessary arrangements." Kakashi pulled out his chair and disappeared from the spot.
In a small tent in the camp, a black-haired boy wearing goggles asked, "Teacher, do we have a new mission?"
"Yes, we need to gather intelligence on Iwagakure. We'll set out at dawn. You should prepare now."
"Understood." A young boy with prematurely white hair replied, "Let's go, Rin, Obito."
After saying that, the three left the tent and began to pack their gear.
"Kakashi, why did we suddenly get this mission? We have to infiltrate deep into enemy territory to gather intelligence. Isn't the front line already stretched thin?"
"Are you afraid, dead-last?"
"How could I be afraid? I am a proud member of the Uchiha clan. Do you want to fight? Damn Kakashi!"
Seeing that Kakashi and Obito were about to start a fight, Rin, who was nearby, stepped in and pulled them apart, saying,
"Stop it, both of you. Hurry up and check if you've left anything behind."
Kakashi glanced at Obito, turned back to his packing, and said softly, "If you're afraid, you're afraid, dead-last."
Obito, still不服气, pointed at Kakashi and said, "I just can't stand the villages destroyed by war and the children who have become orphans. You're so heartless."
After saying that, the three of them stopped their actions simultaneously, and the atmosphere gradually became somber. The initial bickering ceased until Rin sighed and said softly,
"Yes, when will this war end?"
