Regarding the upcoming journey, Yi Xiao had not yet made up his mind. However, during this period, Harry had a falling out with Ron over the quest to destroy the locket, then they were captured by werewolves and taken to Malfoy Manor, and finally, they went to Gringotts to retrieve the chalice.
Yi Xiao estimated that it would take no less time, probably close to a month.
So, taking advantage of this time, Yi Xiao planned to head towards the Norwegian Sea, as there were many places in the original world that were not open to tourists. Yi Xiao remembered that there was a primeval forest in Norway that was off-limits to visitors, and he intended to satisfy his curiosity.
Moreover, the timing was just right, as regardless of whether he learned magic or not, Yi Xiao did not plan to cause trouble in the original world. After all, he wanted to keep a peaceful place where he could live and enjoy life.
There was nothing much to do during this period, and his magical power had reached a bottleneck. However, he was already more powerful than the vast majority of wizards. Yi Xiao had compared himself and, although he was not as strong as Grindelwald in his prime, he believed he could still stand a chance against Voldemort.
Most of Yi Xiao's belongings were stored in a permanently extended pocket, so he had no luggage. He packed enough food and set off on the unknown journey.
...
"Whoosh—Bang!" The door of the tavern was pushed open and then slammed shut, bringing a cool breeze into the stuffy room. This was a characteristic bar with a strong flavor of the Age of Exploration. Behind the aged bar, large bottles of rum were piled up, and a few accordion players were singing unknown songs in a corner. The people in the bar were reveling, perhaps reminiscing about their past glory or looking forward to tomorrow's voyage. The cool sea breeze made people look towards the door.
A slender young man from the East stood there, with black hair, black eyes, a black trench coat, and a black top hat. His face was not handsome, and his body under the trench coat was somewhat thin, but there was a mysterious power that made him impossible to ignore.
He walked straight to the bar and sat down, "A tequila, please." He adjusted his hat, and soon the people in the bar forgot about him, and the room continued to be lively.
Yi Xiao took the tequila that was handed to him, "Thank you." He said, sighing as he thought about how cold it was going north. In the original world, the weather in this season was not so freezing, and since he was in the suburbs, it would take at least until tomorrow to reach the port.
Yi Xiao had traveled north from London, planning to sail to Norway via the North Sea.
"Ah." Yi Xiao sighed again. After experiencing it firsthand, Yi Xiao had a renewed desire for advanced magic. Most of the magic he knew was offensive, and he knew very few supportive spells. Moreover, the range of Apparition was not very far, and half of London was already his limit. The more advanced the magic, the more theoretical applications it had, and laziness was a human trait.
Just as Yi Xiao was lamenting, a hand suddenly landed on his right hand. Yi Xiao was startled and began to gather his mental energy.
At that moment, a lazy voice came from his ear, "I've seen this ring before. According to research, it should have been worn by Merlin, and it belongs to Merlin."
Yi Xiao turned his head and saw that a woman dressed in a cowboy outfit had sat down next to him, wearing boots, jeans, and a brown jacket, which seemed a bit thin for the weather.
But anyone who saw her face would not think she was cold. Her face was rosy, her reddish-brown hair complemented her jacket, and her large eyes were full of vitality. Yi Xiao could even see his reflection in her eyes.
She sat down by herself, "Whiskey~~" she called out loudly.
A woman who was not beautiful but full of adventurous spirit had a unique charm. Yi Xiao squinted his eyes, "Did you come on horseback?"
"No." The woman took a big sip of her drink. "Don't you think the boots suit me well and are very comfortable?"
Yi Xiao smiled but did not respond.
"Burp..." The woman let out a big breath of alcohol, leaning against the bar as if she had no bones, "Vivian, Vivian Jones."
Yi Xiao maintained his frozen smile and quickly scanned her. A bag bulged at her waist, and the shape suggested it contained a whip. He also rated her figure a 90, except for her somewhat muscular legs from long-term exercise, her overall figure was very attractive.
Truly a family trait, looking at the signature whip, boots, and cowboy hat, Yi Xiao muttered to himself.
"Wait, where did you get the Dragon Ring in your hand?" Vivian asked, staring at Yi Xiao with great interest.
"Stolen." Yi Xiao silently took a sip of his drink.
"From whom?" Vivian became even more interested.
"Merlin's apprentice." Yi Xiao said, looking at Vivian with interest.
Vivian lowered her head and calculated Merlin's age and his apprentice's age, then realized that even Merlin's apprentice's apprentice could not have lived to the present day. She glared and slapped the table, "You're fooling me!"
"I'm not fooling you." Yi Xiao said innocently, having roughly deduced some clues. One possibility was that Vivian was a novice adventurer just out of the Jones family, as Indiana Jones had seen the Ark and the crystal skull and had encountered many supernatural forces. Vivian's disbelief in his story was likely because it was her first independent adventure.
Another possibility was that the two story worlds had not intersected, but because of the appearance of Eustace's descendant a few days ago, Yi Xiao thought this was unlikely.
In fact, Yi Xiao's deduction was very close to the truth. Vivian grew up listening to her grandfather's adventure stories. Although she studied archaeology at Oxford University, her blood still flowed with the impulse for adventure. So, taking advantage of the free time this semester, she planned to go to sea to find the secrets of the greatest wizard of this land, Merlin. She met Yi Xiao, who was preparing to go to Norway, near the North Sea.
...
"You mean, you know where Merlin lived?" Yi Xiao looked at Vivian's smug expression.
Vivian took out an old piece of parchment, with some Latin text and a route similar to a nautical chart, "This is Merlin's treasure map." She looked at Yi Xiao, "If you give me this ring, I'll take you there. What do you say?"
"Not interested." Yi Xiao shook his head, "The ring is also very important to me."
"What use is it to you?" Vivian said unhappily, "It has no collection value in your hands. The right thing to do is to donate it to a museum."
"No." Yi Xiao shook his finger, "Look." He pointed to Vivian's wine glass.
"Look at what?" Vivian looked at her wine glass in confusion, and then the glass seemed to come to life, shuddered, and slowly turned into a transparent little dolphin, which "plopped" into Yi Xiao's drink.
"Ah!" Vivian screamed in fright, but being from the Jones family, she had a thick nerve. She immediately covered her mouth and then asked in a low voice, "What's going on? Magic?"
Yi Xiao leaned in mysteriously and whispered, "In fact, I am a wizard."
