"Wow!!" The crowd let out a gasp of amazement. Although the weather in September had already turned cold, it could not obscure the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd.
"Thank you, thank you." Yi Xiao transformed the water ball in his hand into the shape of a mermaid. After it burst with a "pop," he thanked the crowd and began to tidy up the box at his feet.
"The performance for today is over. I will be here for several days at the same location tomorrow." Yi Xiao, having tidied up his things, smiled at the crowd and said, "Remember, even a magician has to have dinner."
The crowd laughed good-naturedly and gradually dispersed, with some children gathering together, discussing as they walked.
"Hey Sam, did you see it today? He just waved his hand, and those tall glasses started dancing in a line!"
"He said he will be here again tomorrow. I have to watch."
"Do you think that's real magic?"
...
As the crowd dispersed, Yi Xiao pressed down his hat brim and turned to walk towards an alley near a restaurant. He had already changed out of the suit from two years later and put on a brown coat with a strong English style.
After using a Disapparition spell to return home, Yi Xiao continued to familiarize himself with the magic he had mastered and to improve some new spells.
Today's street magic performance was not a spur-of-the-moment decision. He had been performing in that area for several days, actually waiting for Harry and the others. He remembered that soon after Harry arrived at the Weasleys' new home, Bill's wedding would take place, followed by an attack, after which they would flee to the streets of London. He found this place based on the scenes from the movie.
It was necessary to keep track of Harry's movements to avoid missing the final battle. This was not a movie where the camera could simply cut to the next scene. Many things were untraceable, and Harry was searching all over England for ways to destroy the Horcruxes, with Death Eaters in pursuit. They were always cautious and secretive, and it would be nearly impossible for Yi Xiao to find them alone.
Yi Xiao had a clear understanding of the status of wizards. From his current perspective, wizards were indeed stronger than ordinary people, but only in terms of curses, ambushes, and control. At least in the Harry Potter world, wizards were more adept at controlling others or erasing memories.
However, in terms of defense, a gun from the shadows could easily take a wizard's life, and a skilled fighter could catch a wizard off guard. Therefore, before having stronger protective measures, Yi Xiao had to be cautious and hide, relying more on his mind than his current crude strength.
The danger not only came from wizards but also from ordinary people.
Yi Xiao did not think that street magic would cause any impact. Firstly, the magical world was currently in chaos, with few people moving around. Secondly, wizards were a proud or closed-off group. Yi Xiao had analyzed that many wizards did not look down on Muggles but were rigidly attached to their traditional culture and simply did not care about the world of ordinary people.
After generations, this had become deeply ingrained, almost instinctual.
However, this made it convenient to monitor Harry and the others. As soon as they appeared, Yi Xiao would be the first to know.
...
Another foggy day, Big Ben "dong, dong, dong" chimed in the London sky, the hollow sound echoing continuously.
Yi Xiao lazily curled up on the sofa, and as the sky grew darker, he reluctantly tidied up his things and walked out of the house.
Walking out of the same alley, a sparse crowd was already waiting in the distance. Seeing Yi Xiao appear, the crowd immediately became agitated, with people talking to their friends and pointing at Yi Xiao.
Yi Xiao smiled at the crowd, "Alright, friends, let's start today's... magic."
With that, he threw his hat into the air, and it turned into a large candle, steadily floating and emitting a soft light.
The crowd let out a gasp of amazement, and the atmosphere gradually heated up.
...
Harry moved through the crowd, surrounded by people attending the wedding. However, Harry did not feel particularly happy or sad; he did not know what his mood should be.
Voldemort, Dumbledore's death, and one event after another were weighing heavily on him, making life increasingly suffocating.
He felt like he was about to break down; he could not bear it anymore.
Fortunately, he had two friends always by his side, and Ginny, a smile appeared on Harry's face. He thought of the support from many others, including the Lovegoods.
Suddenly, a bright blue light descended into the center of the tent, and the celebratory crowd gradually fell silent, becoming a dead stillness. An ominous voice emerged from the light, hoarse and unpleasant, signaling an attack by the Death Eaters.
With the words, "They're here," the light disappeared, and the crowd began to panic. People started to Disapparate, Bill and Fleur hugged tightly, Mrs. Weasley searched for her children, and Hermione and Ron held hands.
"Ginny!" "Ginny!" Harry pushed through the crowd, shouting. Green flashes of the Killing Curse erupted around him, and he desperately searched for Ginny.
"Go!" Lupin grabbed the struggling Harry, shouting at him and pushing him towards Hermione. Hermione grabbed him and, with Ron, twisted and disappeared.
...
"Hey, is there anyone willing to come up? I can turn you into any animal." Yi Xiao shouted to the crowd. One after another, spectacular magic tricks left the crowd spellbound, and they showered Yi Xiao with cheers.
Although using real magic for magic tricks was unfair to other magicians, a simple Transfiguration spell and a Memory Charm could make the ordinary people involved completely unsuspecting.
Hearing Yi Xiao's request, many people volunteered. A young boy squeezed through the adults and walked up to Yi Xiao.
"I want to try." The boy looked excitedly at Yi Xiao.
The crowd gradually quieted, waiting for Yi Xiao's magic. Yi Xiao pretended to wave his hand over the boy's head a few times, then raised his hand, and a black cloth appeared out of nowhere, covering the child. Before the cloth fully fell, he lifted it again.
"Oh~~!" The crowd let out a gasp of amazement, for in that instant, the boy had disappeared, replaced by a miniature dragon.
Yi Xiao lowered his head to admire his work, but his smile froze. His lips twitched slightly; he had intended to turn the boy into a pig.
Although he did not know what went wrong with his magic, the crowd's gasps indicated that the effect was still good. Seeing the mini dragon flapping its wings and preparing to fly, Yi Xiao quickly covered it with the black cloth again, turned the boy back, and used a Memory Charm to make him forget the experience.
Seeing the boy reappear, the crowd burst into applause, which grew louder and more continuous.
"Did you see that, a dragon?"
"I've only seen rabbits and doves before, never a dragon."
"How did he do that? The fake dragon looked so real! It even moved!"
The crowd buzzed with discussion, and the boy was very excited. He kept telling the people around him about his experience, saying he felt smaller but very strong and that he could breathe fire. He was just about to fly when he was turned back. This must be real magic.
Someone kindly told him it was just a magic trick, all an illusion, and that he was just distracted by the props. The boy was not convinced and loudly countered, "My grandfather told me that turning into a dragon feels exactly like that. This must be magic."
Yi Xiao listened quietly, his lips almost twitching from the strain. He did not know why the Memory Charm on the boy did not work, but it was just a child, and no one believed him.
However, Yi Xiao's heart stirred, and he asked, "What is your grandfather's name?" Without waiting for an answer, he pressed his finger to the boy's lips, "Shh, let me guess. Is it Eustace?" Yi Xiao smiled at him.
"Do you know my grandfather?"
"No, I don't, just remembered it a few days ago." Yi Xiao narrowed his right eye. He had already noticed the three people approaching, one of whom was a tall woman in a fiery red dress, Hermione. "Do you want to see real magic?"
"Sure." The boy said excitedly.
Yi Xiao used a bit of his mental energy to guide Harry's attention towards him and told Harry that he was also a Death Eater.
Harry, who was following Hermione from a distance, suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head and couldn't help but hold his head.
"What's wrong?" Hermione asked, concerned. "Don't let him see into your mind. He will find you."
"I, I'm fine," Harry weakly shook his head, straightened up, and suddenly saw Yi Xiao, a Death Eater. He did not clearly see who it was, but his mind told him this person was a Death Eater.
"Stupefy!" Harry drew his wand and, without regard for the busy street, aimed it at Yi Xiao.
Yi Xiao had been watching them closely and deflected the spell towards a nearby street lamp, which sparked and went out.
The crowd had not yet reacted when two more spells followed. Although Hermione and Ron did not know why Harry suddenly attacked, they could see that the other person was a wizard, so they both aimed to incapacitate rather than kill.
These two spells hit the crowd, and a middle-aged man stiffened and fell to the ground. The crowd was silent for a few seconds before someone shouted, "Murder!" and began to scatter.
Yi Xiao walked calmly through the panicked crowd. The magic from Harry and the others had little effect on him, and he was getting closer to them. Harry and the others, pale-faced, sought cover.
Yi Xiao pointed at a man's briefcase near Harry and elegantly swiped his finger to the right. The briefcase hit Harry's wrist, knocking his wand out of his hand. Yi Xiao cast a spell to stun Harry. The briefcase then turned into a sharp sword, which slashed towards Ron. Yi Xiao's finger traced arcs in the air, and Ron, panicking, tried to block but was knocked out by the hilt of the sword.
Only Hermione and Yi Xiao were left. Hermione, seeing the two on the ground, swallowed hard, gripped her wand tightly, and pointed it at Yi Xiao.
Yi Xiao shrugged, and a massive mental force knocked Hermione to the ground. He quickly walked over, gathered the three and their wands, and twisted, disappearing on the spot.
Only the panicked crowd and a boy with his mouth wide open remained on the street.
