Chapter 3: Diagon Alley

4 min read1,085 words

After much deliberation, Kyle ultimately decided to deceive his father and conceal the news about the three-headed dog, Fluffy.

Who wouldn't love magical creatures? But he wasn't Newt, and he didn't have that innate talent. A three-headed dog was extremely rare, even in Greece. If he missed this opportunity, he might never see one again.

Comparing the two options, he chose to deceive his father.

However, to make up for it and ease his conscience, Kyle immediately broke free from the twins' arms and went to Chris, giving him an apologetic look.

Chris was utterly confused.

The twins were equally baffled.

They had just been about to resume their prank, sprinkling Skiving Snackboxes on Kyle's head, when, at the last moment, Kyle ducked and ran. They had already thrown the Skiving Snackboxes!

If only he had done it a second earlier or later, why now?

The twins were stunned, watching helplessly as the Skiving Snackboxes they had thrown drew a beautiful cross in the air and flew straight into each other's heads.

"Whew... Whew..."

"Shh... Shh... Shh..."

Two sharp gasps and the sound of hair being rubbed together came from behind, immediately drawing everyone's attention. Everyone instinctively turned to look in the direction of the sound.

When they turned around, they saw Fred and George, the Weasley twins, scratching their heads like two adult baboons.

Their already unruly hair was now even more of a mess, looking worse than a bird's nest. Honestly, the Sorting Hat looked better than they did at that moment.

"Oh, Fred, George, what are you up to now!"

Seeing the increasing number of strange looks from the crowd, Mrs. Weasley's face turned red as she walked over to the twins, grabbed them by the ears, and dragged them into a side alley.

At least there were fewer people there, and she could save some face.

Unlike now, on the main street of Diagon Alley, her two sons were imitating baboons in public.

Merlin's beard! If they continued, the Weasleys' reputation would be ruined, completely ruined!

Mrs. Weasley's actions were decisive, but the twins suffered. Their gasps became louder, and Kyle could have sworn he saw tears in their eyes.

If it was true... he could only say that they truly were twins, even their tears were in the same spot.

On the other side, Mr. Weasley, seeing Mrs. Weasley drag the twins away, clearly breathed a sigh of relief. He tried to hide his embarrassment and urged everyone to go shopping, saying there was no need to wait for them.

At the back of the group, Kyle hid beside Ron, struggling to hold back his laughter.

But the next moment, when he looked up and saw Diana's gaze, he felt uneasy. He forced a smile, awkward but polite.

His mother was great in every way, except for her uncanny sixth sense. He had never been able to hide anything from her since he was a child.

He was lucky to have been born a few months after his穿越, otherwise, Kyle was sure his identity would have been discovered long ago.

"Really..."

Kyle scratched his head, thinking, "With a mother like this, there's no privacy at all."

Diana didn't say anything; she just gave Kyle a warning look and turned away.

This wasn't a big deal; Molly was just overreacting out of concern.

The twins were notorious troublemakers at Hogwarts, and their antics were well-known throughout the wizarding world, even to Diana.

Just the bizarre things she had heard about them included exploding toilet seats, bagging Filch during night patrols, and throwing dungbombs under the seats of Slytherin first-years, falsely accusing them of soiling their pants in class. There were probably many more she hadn't heard about.

Compared to these, imitating baboons in public was nothing.

So, most people who saw it just laughed and didn't think it reflected badly on the Weasleys. (Except for a certain unnamed person with white-blond hair from a pure-blood family.)

Mrs. Weasley's reaction was just due to her not being used to it yet.

Bill, Charlie, and Percy were all excellent children, and Mrs. Weasley subconsciously applied this image to the twins. Even though their behavior was different from their older brothers, this impression wasn't easily erased.

After all, Bill and Charlie weren't very well-behaved at home and when they first started school, but they were still among the best students at Hogwarts.

To put it simply, just imagine Percy imitating a baboon in public, and you can understand Mrs. Weasley.

But this was just temporary. Once a couple of school years passed and more news from Hogwarts reached them, Mrs. Weasley would get used to it.

At least she would be calmer the next time something like this happened.

...

After the small incident, the group split up.

Since Ron and Ginny were not yet of age to start school, the Weasleys were only there to buy new schoolbooks for the twins and Percy.

But Kyle was a new student, and he had a lot to buy. The first and most important thing was to get a wand.

Without needing a guide, Kyle walked through Diagon Alley with ease and quickly found his destination.

The small, dilapidated shop.

Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.

Standing at the entrance, Kyle always felt speechless when he came here.

The place was in such a state of disrepair that the dust on the windows could be used to build a statue at the door. Did wizards really love the sense of age so much?

But Gringotts and the Flying Broomstick shop were clean and beautiful.

Was this the confidence of a monopoly, where you had to come no matter what?

But Gringotts was also a monopoly...

Kyle had been thinking about this for a long time and even asked Chris and Mr. Weasley, but he still had no answer. Now, standing here, he could only shrug and attribute it to the eccentricity of a craftsman.

As for asking in person, that was out of the question. It would offend someone. After all, Ollivander was the most famous wandmaker in the British wizarding world, and maintaining a good relationship was important.

However, Ron would be starting school next year, and he could discuss it with the twins, convincing... ahem, asking their youngest brother to help with the inquiry.

Don't say he was deceiving his friends.

He was deceiving Ron Weasley, not his beloved relatives or the twins' younger brother, Ronald Weasley.
