"Hmm..." Mo Fei nodded gently, "Jim, your idea is great; you are a very dedicated actor."

These words were spoken with deep sincerity, as if they were from the bottom of his heart. The smile on James Franco's face deepened. From the start of the rehearsal, he had noticed that Mo Fei not only knew how to get along with Carey Mulligan but also made her revolve around him.

Without mentioning other aspects, just this point alone made him somewhat admire Mo Fei. During the rehearsals and the shooting at the Minton Café, he had used many flattering tactics, but his relationship with Carey Mulligan not only failed to improve but even showed signs of worsening.

If it were anyone else, he would have given up, but the playful short golden hair, the delicate and cute face, the innocent and pure smile, and the occasional rebelliousness all stirred his heart, making him unable to stop.

What he couldn't get, especially the type that could only be seen but not approached, strongly hinted that this was the best.

Using Carey Mulligan to hook James Franco was Mo Fei's previous plan, but after the other party signed the contract, these plans naturally had to be scrapped.

"Actually, Carey is quite easy to get along with." Mo Fei spoke with the most sincere attitude and tone, saying something he himself didn't believe, "I treat Carey sincerely, and of course, she will treat me the same way."

Upon hearing this, James Franco wanted to roll his eyes and deeply cut into Mo Fei's honest face to see what was hidden underneath.

"Thank you." James Franco stood up and said insincerely, "I know what to do."

He glanced at the bottle of Chivas on the coffee table, a feeling of heartache instantly spread throughout his body, but he forced himself to endure it. Just as he was about to take his leave, the door was knocked on again from the outside.

"Please come in." Mo Fei said.

The door opened, and a small, cute doll face peeked in through the crack, with bright eyes and a curved smile. But when they saw James Franco, the smile instantly disappeared.

Carey Mulligan pushed the door open and walked in, completely ignoring James Franco, and greeted Mo Fei, "Hi, good evening."

Mo Fei replied with a warm smile, "Feel free to sit, Carey."

"Hello, Carey." After Carey Mulligan sat down on a chair, James Franco greeted her, "It's so late, haven't you gone to sleep yet?"

Although innocent and lacking social experience, Carey Mulligan was very smart. With Mo Fei's subtle reminders, she could see some of James Franco's intentions. Her dislike for him had long moved from just words to a psychological level. She merely nodded slightly and said coldly, "Hello, James."

If it weren't for Mo Fei's influence, this emotionally expressive person probably wouldn't even have greeted him.

Carey Mulligan glanced at James Franco, and her thoughts involuntarily turned to the characters Haley and Jeff in the script. Her lively eyes immediately started to twinkle.

"Carey..." Mo Fei cleared his throat, "Is there something you need?"

"Ah... yes." Carey Mulligan quickly came back to her senses, glanced at James Franco again, and deliberately emphasized, "I want to talk to you alone about the tutor."

Mo Fei turned to look at James Franco, who was not an unreasonable person and knew that achieving his goal required long-term effort. He didn't want to increase Carey Mulligan's dislike, so he quickly said, "It's getting late, I still need to go back and read the script."

After saying that, he didn't wait for Mo Fei to see him off and directly walked over to open the door and leave.

Once the door closed, Carey Mulligan immediately dropped her previous sour face and blinked her innocent, bright eyes, "Bill said you prepared a tutor for me, is that true?"

Mo Fei nodded gently, and Carey Mulligan's face immediately fell. She stood up from the chair and almost jumped to the sofa next to Mo Fei, sitting down and pouting, "I don't want a tutor, Mo Fei, I really don't want one!"

"Sorry..." Mo Fei slowly shook his head, "Carey, this isn't something I can control."

Carey Mulligan wanted to say something, but Mo Fei raised his hand, "Dear, listen to me. I don't want to find a rigid tutor to bind you, this free little bird."

"I knew it, you are the best for me." Carey Mulligan still said with a hint of委屈 (grievance), "Please!"

Her bright eyes were misty, and her words were soft and gentle. Whenever she used this tone in the past, the person opposite would always agree...

"I can't do it, Carey." Mo Fei looked into her eyes, "You are not yet sixteen and are protected by the Children's Association. The production team arranging a tutor for you is a mandatory rule."

"These people are so annoying!" Carey Mulligan said resentfully, "I don't need their protection!"

"Carey, don't say such silly things." Mo Fei's words were unusually warm, "Dear, don't forget, you are not yet an adult."

Carey Mulligan lowered her head, not knowing what to think.

Mo Fei knew how to deal with her, "You don't want the Children's Association and the Actors' Guild to cause trouble for the production team, making our project unable to continue, do you?"

"Of course not." Carey Mulligan slightly raised her head, "This is my first formal role, I don't want to fail."

"This is also my first movie." Mo Fei followed her words, "I have invested all my assets into this. If the project is interrupted, I will go bankrupt and become a homeless person. As my good friend, do you want to see this happen?"

"No, never!" Carey Mulligan quickly shook her head, extended a small hand, and placed it on Mo Fei's arm, "We are the best friends, I will never let this happen."

She raised her head, seemingly completely convinced, "Mo Fei, you made my dream come true. For you, I can endure the most rigid and strange tutor."

Mo Fei nodded at her, "You are the best girl I have ever met."

"Really?" Carey Mulligan showed a hint of surprise and wanted to say more, but Mo Fei spoke, "Go to bed early, you still have to rehearse with James tomorrow."

"That annoying guy again." Carey Mulligan muttered but still stood up.

Her eyes fell on the bottle of alcohol on the coffee table, and she asked tentatively, "Is this Chivas?"

Seeing Mo Fei nod, she said with a hint of longing, "Can... can I try it?"

Mo Fei looked very troubled, thought for a moment, and raised a finger, "Just a small sip, and don't tell anyone else."

"Okay!" Carey Mulligan said with a vow, "This is our secret."

After saying that, she grabbed Mo Fei's glass, picked up the bottle, poured a little alcohol, and drank it with her head tilted back. It seemed she had drunk before, and she took a deep breath, muttering, "It tastes much better than last time."

Mo Fei watched her with a smile, and Carey Mulligan immediately covered her mouth.

"Our secret." Mo Fei said at the right time.

Carey Mulligan immediately smiled happily, feeling that there was no better friend in the world than Mo Fei.

Leaving Mo Fei's room, Carey Mulligan turned out of the corridor but was stopped by a voice from the stairwell, "Hi, Carey."

James Franco appeared in front of her, "I heard the small lake to the north is nice. Everyone else has gone there. Are you interested in going?"

Going out at night with a man? Carey Mulligan was innocent but not stupid, "Sorry, I need to rest."
