Weng Meiling took out a Hong Kong dollar and said with a smile, "This is a loan to you. Remember to pay me back when you make money."
Wang Zichuan already considered Weng Meiling as one of his own and took it without hesitation, exclaiming, "There's even a 500-dollar bill! You're really generous!"
Weng Meiling led Wang Zichuan out of the hospital, her mood suddenly relaxing. She sighed, "These past few months of filming have been exhausting. I was planning to take it easy today, but I didn't expect to run into you, wasting a whole day. I have to work hard again tomorrow."
Wang Zichuan indeed snapped out of his daze, bowed to Weng Meiling, and flattered her, "Thank you, Great Hero Huang, for saving my life. I have nothing to offer in return, but I am willing to dedicate myself to you."
"Pah, don't be frivolous. Who wants your dedication?" Weng Meiling already understood Wang Zichuan's personality and knew he was joking. She hailed a taxi and said to Wang Zichuan, "Where are you going? Right, you don't know the way! Let me think..."
"Watch out!" Wang Zichuan saw a little boy crossing the road, and the cars were not slowing down. Without thinking, he shouted and rushed out, grabbing the boy and rolling a few steps to avoid the cars.
Weng Meiling ran over, helped the boy up, checked him over, and confirmed he was not injured. She asked Li Yunzhong with concern, "Zichuan, are you okay?"
Wang Zichuan managed a weak smile and replied, "I'm fine, just a few scratches."
Weng Meiling looked at Wang Zichuan with new respect and said excitedly, "I didn't expect you to be so brave and selfless. I didn't save you in vain. I'll help you all the way. Let's take a taxi to Temple Street."
The two handed the boy over to his parents and got into the taxi together.
"Driver, to Temple Street."
Wang Zichuan sat in the back seat and asked Weng Meiling, "Aunt Weng, why are we going to Temple Street? Do you live there? I heard it's very lively."
Weng Meiling glanced at Wang Zichuan, made a shushing gesture, and then explained, "The rent in Temple Street is cheap, and there are many people. The residents are very friendly, making it perfect for newcomers like you."
"Oh!"
Wang Zichuan noticed the fatigue in her expression and wisely kept quiet, occasionally stealing glances at Weng Meiling, both surprised and sighing inwardly. He couldn't believe he had traveled through time and met the beautiful Weng Meiling, who was so warm-hearted and helpful to a stranger. Unfortunately, she would not live much longer.
Wang Zichuan felt a growing dislike for the unseen Tang Zhenye, who had caused such a beautiful woman to commit suicide. He was a real scoundrel.
"Sir, Miss, we've arrived at Temple Street!" The driver stopped the car and reminded them.
Weng Meiling paid the fare and led Wang Zichuan into Temple Street.
Temple Street is located in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is a distinctive street known for its vibrant night market, which is also one of the most famous in Hong Kong. Many movies have been filmed here. Temple Street is renowned for its affordable goods and is often referred to as Hong Kong's working-class nightclub.
Temple Street embodies the authentic Hong Kong spirit, especially its night market, which reflects the city's culture. Every evening, hundreds of street vendors set up their stalls on the road. After dark, the lit stalls illuminate the entire street, attracting a steady stream of visitors and customers, turning the once quiet street into a bustling hub of activity.
It was now evening, and many stalls on Temple Street were already open for business. The roadside stalls were filled with diners, and office workers, having finished their long day, walked the streets with friends. The street was crowded with various people and vehicles.
Weng Meiling was surprised to see Wang Zichuan seemingly unfazed by the bustling scene. She had been amazed the first time she visited Temple Street and took some time to get used to it.
"Follow me quickly, I'll take you to a friend!" Weng Meiling called out to Wang Zichuan, her small frame deftly weaving through the crowd.
Wang Zichuan hurried to follow but couldn't keep up with Weng Meiling's petite and agile figure. He shouted and kept his eyes on her, struggling to catch up.
"Wait!"
"Hurry up! You're so useless, I still need to get back and rest!"
Weng Meiling covered her face and smiled back, clearly afraid of being recognized.
Wang Zichuan had no choice but to use all his strength to keep up, which drew a series of curses from the crowd.
"Get lost, you scumbag!"
"This punk is in a hurry to be reincarnated."
"I think he's being chased with a knife."
...
Half an hour later, Weng Meiling stopped, not out of breath, and looked at Wang Zichuan, who was drenched in sweat and panting. She bent down and laughed, "You're a big man, and you're already this tired after such a short run. Ha ha, this is hilarious."
Wang Zichuan flattered her, "Pant, pant, pant, pant, I really admire you. No wonder you're an actress, your stamina is amazing!"
Weng Meiling showed her two little tiger teeth and said proudly, "Of course, it's basic training in the film industry. Are you done panting? Follow me."
Wang Zichuan looked at the dilapidated two-story building in front of him, suspiciously following. Could she be meeting her lover? Does she not care that I'm such a big third wheel?
Weng Meiling went to the second floor and knocked hard on a door on the left.
"Who is it!" A young man in his twenties, rubbing his eyes, clearly just woken up, glanced at Wang Zichuan and Weng Meiling and forced a smile, "It's you, Aunt Weng. Why aren't you with your An Gongzi? What do you want from me?"
Hearing his teasing, Weng Meiling looked sweet and said, "Ah Ye has a shoot today, and our crew is on break. By the way, didn't you say you were moving out?"
Wang Zichuan found the young man increasingly familiar and finally recognized him, exclaiming, "You're Liang Chaowei!"
Weng Meiling glanced at Wang Zichuan and teased Liang Chaowei, "His name is Wang Zichuan, just call him Zichuan. Wei, you're the lead in 'The God of Fortune' this year, who in Hong Kong doesn't know you! No wonder you're moving out of Temple Street."
Liang Chaowei quickly invited Weng Meiling and Wang Zichuan into the house, poured them tea, and sighed, "Actually, I don't want to leave here, but fans keep disturbing me, which is really troublesome."
Wang Zichuan casually looked around. It was a two-bedroom apartment with a living room, bathroom, and small kitchen.
The house was quite clean, unlike the outside. Would he be living here from now on?
Liang Chaowei saw Wang Zichuan examining the house and introduced, "This house has another roommate. He's also a TVB artist and currently hosting a children's program. If Mr. Wang doesn't mind, I can move out tomorrow."
Wang Zichuan awkwardly smiled and replied, "I have nowhere to stay today."
Liang Chaowei paused, patted the sofa, and said, "You can stay on the sofa for the night. I'll move to Wu Tai Mountain early tomorrow. I've already found a place there."
Weng Meiling stood up, genuinely happy, her big eyes squinting, and patted Wang Zichuan's shoulder, "You can stay here from now on. If you can't find a job, come to the 'The Legend of the Condor Heroes' set tomorrow. I'll ask Uncle Wang to arrange something for you."
Wang Zichuan noticed Liang Chaowei's strange expression and, to avoid awkwardness, pointed at Weng Meiling, "Wei, let me introduce you. This cute little beauty with the rabbit teeth is my distant cousin. I'm her cousin!"
Weng Meiling stomped her foot, secretly cursing this deadbeat. She was so helpful, and he was taking advantage of her. In a fit of anger, she said to Liang Chaowei, "Don't listen to him. He's my distant cousin, and I'm the older one."
Liang Chaowei was at a loss, not knowing whom to believe. He looked at Weng Meiling and then at Wang Zichuan, asking, "Who is older?"
Weng Meiling quickly said, "Of course, I am! I'm the older one." She then glared at Wang Zichuan, threatening him with a clenched fist, "Right, little cousin?"
Wang Zichuan took a step back and whispered, "Right, older cousin."
Weng Meiling put down her fist and said happily, "That's right. As the older cousin, I should help the younger one. Don't worry, I'll make sure Uncle Wang takes good care of you tomorrow."
After Weng Meiling left, Wang Zichuan and Liang Chaowei were left alone, looking at each other, not knowing what to say.
"Wei! I'm back, and there's a guest!"
Just as Wang Zichuan was feeling awkward, the other occupant of the house returned.
Liang Chaowei quickly stood up and explained, "Ah Xing, you're back. This is your new roommate, Wang Zichuan. Don't worry, Aunt Weng introduced him."
Zhou Xingchi extended his hand and smiled at Wang Zichuan, "Hello, I'm Zhou Xingchi. I work on the TV program '430 Shuttle.'"
