"one, two, three... hmm... exactly five." While counting, Feng Jue walked to the center of the street, leaving the brightest area under the streetlights.

He directly stepped onto the hood of a car, standing above it, gripping the pipe wrench with one hand, his eyes scanning all directions. He took a risky position on this dimly lit high point, trying to lure the strange infants into a trap.

Wang Tanzhi took out his [Fruit Knife] and put on the armor he had obtained in the previous solo survival mode—a black steel helmet that looked quite out of place. He and Long Aomin stood back-to-back, not too far from the streetlights, each guarding a direction.

As for Loneliness and Solitude, their stance was similar to that of the doomed characters in horror movies: the woman hugging the man's arm, the man standing sideways in front of her, a surefire way to get killed.

The shadows of the strange infants moved through the shadows on the street, using the shadows of buildings and vehicles to hide themselves. These creatures moved incredibly fast, appearing in the light for no more than a second before vanishing.

Feng Jue stood far from the streetlights, surrounded by many shadows. As expected, he was the first to be attacked. A strange infant leaped from the ground, jumping over two meters high, pouncing from Feng Jue's side.

He had anticipated this and turned to face it, just in time to see the infant leap into view. This creature had copper-green skin, a body resembling an infant, a grotesque face, a mouth full of jagged yellow teeth, and its forearms replaced by small sickles. Below the knees, it had animal legs ending in hooves.

Feng Jue chose to stand on the car roof, considering that these creatures were less than a meter tall and would have to jump to attack a high target. Now, the infant had indeed jumped, and since it was in the air, it would be unable to dodge for a moment...

In terms of strength, Feng Jue was clearly at an advantage, and he was well-prepared for this ambush. He aimed at the infant's head, bringing the pipe wrench down from above. The sound of the impact was revolting...

Imagine a watermelon flying towards your face, and you smash it mid-air with a stick. But the watermelon is filled with putrid liquid, thick pus, and semi-coagulated sludge, all of which burst out and splatter onto you due to inertia...

This was the situation Feng Jue found himself in, the "guts" splattering on him with a very real smell. To put it poetically, Feng Jue now emitted a dark and mysterious aura. To put it bluntly... he reeked of corpses.

Although the strange infant was killed by Feng Jue's first strike, there were still four others. Their numbers seemed to be based on the number of players, but they were not programmed to target different players.

The others were standing in the light, and as anyone who has watched horror movies knows, monsters target those who are alone. Therefore, the other four did not bother with the others and all surrounded Feng Jue, who was in a darker area.

In this situation, Feng Jue was indeed a bit nervous, but he still did not feel fear. His thinking remained calm, and he immediately ruled out the option of retreating to the streetlights. He had a clear understanding of the speed of these strange infants and knew that if he got off the car roof, within five seconds, if two infants attacked simultaneously, one of them would likely cut his leg with its sickle.

Standing on the same level, these short and fast creatures were difficult to handle. Feng Jue estimated that with his current strength, he could handle one-on-one on the ground, but he would definitely get injured in a two-on-one.

The second strange infant pounced after about ten seconds. Feng Jue did not know when the other three would leap, but he had to deal with the one in front of him. He used the same technique, swinging the pipe wrench with force. This time, it was not as accurate as the first, but the pipe wrench still hit the side of the infant's head. The fire attribute and the headshot effect provided excellent attack results, successfully killing the second infant.

The third attack came before Feng Jue could even retract his arm. This time, two strange infants pounced from his left and right sides simultaneously. If he turned to block, he could only stop one, and it was uncertain whether he could kill it with one hit.

At that moment, a golden light appeared in the distance, and a burly figure quickly joined the battle. Long Aomin, as if on a skateboard, slid over without moving his feet, indicating that he had used a skill.

True to his level 10 character, Long Aomin was a formidable fighter. He held his shield in front of him, using the skill to instantly close the distance with one of the strange infants, knocking it away. Then, he extended his arms and used the edge of the shield to graze the waist of the other infant, causing it to lose balance and veer off course.

Feng Jue did not miss this opportunity. With these two seconds of delay, he had enough time to react, swinging the pipe wrench and taking down the injured infant, causing more foul liquid to splatter.

Seeing that he had dealt with this one, Long Aomin quickly ran to the infant he had knocked away. He approached, bent his knees, and raised his shield, bringing it down with a powerful strike.

The strange infant, still unsteady after being knocked away, raised its sickles to block. Although it caused some sparks on the shield, as a relatively weak monster, it was impossible for it to cut through the well-defended and well-armed shield.

Long Aomin roared and smashed the shield down several times. After a few screams, the strange infant was reduced to a pulp, clearly dead.

"Where's the last one? Let's finish it off together." Wang Tanzhi had just run over. He and Long Aomin had rushed over together, but Long Aomin used a skill to get there in half a second, while Wang Tanzhi had to run, and in those few seconds, Long Aomin had already completed one kill and one assist.

"Don't be complacent. I don't think it will be that simple..." Before Feng Jue could finish his sentence, the surroundings suddenly turned pitch black. All the light sources in the city, including the moonlight, disappeared in an instant.

The world seemed to be swallowed by something, plunging into complete darkness. The breathing, whispers, and laughter became incredibly clear, as if they were right next to the group, in the darkness that was within reach but impossible to see.

A few seconds later, just like the opening cutscene of the game, the moonlight returned, and the streetlights lit up again, restoring the brightness to the level before it dimmed.

And the last strange infant, which had been lurking in the shadows, had undergone a dramatic transformation after the eerie darkness.
