Not long after, the big man with the pig's head came out of the kitchen carrying two steaming, fragrant bowls of meat soup.
He walked to the table where Feng Bujue and Suyu were sitting, placed the two bowls on the table, and said, "In these two bowls, one is human meat soup, and the other is pork soup." His gaze swept over their faces: "Each of you pick a bowl. If you drink the pork, you can leave alive. If you drink the human meat... you'll end up in the freezer, to be my next bowl of soup."
The shadow cast by Oink's massive body blocked the light from the kitchen, and under the dim light of the lantern, the two golden bowls of meat soup on the table looked very tempting and smelled delicious.
"Let me make it clear beforehand, you're not allowed to leave any soup, or pour it out or spit it out. Otherwise, both of you will end up in the fridge," Oink added.
There was no main ingredient in either of the two bowls; Oink had only served clear broth. The two bowls of meat soup had the same color, with a layer of fat floating on the surface, but the broth itself looked very clear. Visually, the two bowls of soup were indistinguishable.
And from the sense of smell, there was no difference either. Both pots of meat soup were seasoned in the same way, and the auxiliary ingredients, spices, and the rich aroma of red wine completely masked the greasy taste of the meat. Human olfactory senses are not very sensitive in nature, and in this situation, relying on smell to distinguish was not reliable.
Thus, there was only one way left... to taste it.
Although the Horror Park has a very high degree of realism in the smell of disgusting substances like blood, organs, and sewer filth, players can basically eat anything as long as they overcome their psychological barriers.
Things like chewing glass or swallowing nails can be done, but they would cause esophageal damage, a decrease in survival value, bleeding, illness, and other chain reactions...
After a dozen seconds of mental struggle, Feng Bujue seemed to have made up his mind. He casually picked up a bowl of soup, said nothing, and without caring about the heat, tilted his head back and drank it, gulping it down in less than ten seconds.
Suyu looked at him, thinking to herself that she didn't seem to have a choice. She could only finish the remaining bowl, and at worst, she would die.
Unexpectedly, after Feng Bujue finished his bowl, he said nothing and snatched the other bowl from the table, drank it down in the same manner, finishing it in less than ten seconds.
Suyu was completely stunned. At first, she didn't understand, but after a few seconds, she realized... The first bowl that Feng Bujue drank must have been pork soup. After drinking it, he knew the other bowl was human meat, so to protect himself, he drank it.
Feng Bujue's thoughts were indeed like that, but the situation was not that simple.
Before he started drinking, he was thinking: No matter what, he couldn't let a girl taste human meat.
So he had to act first and drink quickly. If the bowl he picked was human meat, it would be fine; he would just die. But if it was pork, he would drink the human meat soup as well.
However, plans are one thing...
After he started drinking, the situation changed.
The first bowl of soup, to be honest, tasted quite good. Even in this terrifying atmosphere, for a moment, Feng Bujue felt a sense of satisfaction as if he were enjoying a delicious meal.
So he determined that this bowl was not made from human meat. If it were, his problem might not just be a lack of fear; he might have the same tastes as Dr. Lecter.
But when he tasted the second bowl, Feng Bujue was stunned. The taste of this bowl seemed the same as the first.
Without hesitation, he drank it all down. After finishing both bowls, he was puzzled... which one was the human meat soup?
"What do you think you're doing?" Oink looked at Feng Bujue and said in a deep voice, "Protecting your companion, right? Hmph, can't I just serve two more bowls?"
Hearing this, Feng Bujue slapped the table and stood up, staring at Oink with a very arrogant look. The unspoken words in his mind were: "Do you believe I'll trip you?"
Oink was unmoved, calmly turned around, and walked towards the kitchen, saying, "Follow me." This was clearly directed at Feng Bujue.
Suyu quickly grabbed his arm, looked into Feng Bujue's eyes, and shook her head. She felt that Oink's invitation was to make Feng Bujue a reserve food supply.
But Feng Bujue smiled, waved his hand, and handed the lantern back to Suyu. Before he turned to leave, he wrote "wait for me" on her palm with his finger and made a gesture, indicating that Suyu should just sit there.
For some reason, Feng Bujue's actions made people feel reassured, as if he really would be back soon.
Following Oink into the depths of the kitchen, with Suyu not present, Feng Bujue could lower his voice and speak. He said, "Neither of those two bowls was made from human meat, right?"
"Of course not," Oink replied. "But that doesn't mean I can't make it. I brought you here to show you my inventory." He walked to the freezer, opened the door to a 45-degree angle, stood in front of it, and pulled out a piece of meat shaped like an 'M', about a meter long, hanging from an iron hook, and placed it on the counter with a flick of his hand.
Upon closer inspection, it was clear that this was the lower half of a human body...
"The boy in the well was timid in life, but after death, he not only killed his enemy but also many small-time thugs who had no grudge against him," Oink said. "After being injured by the yin-yang master, he still acted out, so I cut him into two pieces to make him behave."
As he spoke, he dragged another armless corpse from the large freezer and said, "This was a ridiculous music teacher. In life, he was very arrogant, thinking that being a teacher was a waste of his talent. He always wanted to become a composer, but his work was garbage. One day, while he was creating garbage in the music room, he had a heart attack and became a ghost that forced people to listen to his performances."
Feng Bujue, seeing this, had already guessed what would come next: "Let me guess... there's a dead child in the freezer?"
"The dead child was killed by you," Oink replied, and he casually pulled out a female corpse with its organs removed from the freezer: "This is its mother. As you guessed, she scratched open her pregnant belly in anger before committing suicide."
Then, Oink closed the freezer door and took a glass bottle from a cabinet. The bottle was filled with blood, and two human eyeballs were floating inside: "This was a beautiful girl, especially her eyes, which were very attractive. She was very vain and knew how to use her beauty to achieve her goals. She dated several boys, making each of them buy expensive things to please her. One day, some girls who were jealous of her behavior pressed her head into a water-filled sink. They only wanted to 'teach her a lesson,' but their jealousy blinded them, and evil overflowed from their minds and bodies... When the girl's lungs filled with blood, turning the water red, they realized the tragedy had already happened." He paused: "This ghost's resentment was very strong, and it killed many people. Even after I gouged out her eyes, it didn't stop her; instead, it made her collect eyeballs."
Feng Bujue said, "So, the thirteenth step leading to the other dimension is related to you?"
"Where do you think the people killed by those ghosts ended up?" Oink replied.
"Uh, did you create that space to use as a garbage bin for dead spirits?" Feng Bujue asked. "But what about the ghosts outside?"
"That's something you should ask me," Oink countered. "Why are the ghosts outside the school gathering here to hunt you?"
This made Feng Bujue realize that the ghost hunt after breaking the rules was unrelated to the school's seven mysteries.
"I'm not sure," he replied evasively and quickly changed the subject: "You're telling me this to show that you're like a guardian here, right? So, why are you staging this human meat soup act? And what does the last line of the rhyme mean?"
"I'm here to help you," Oink said. "Or rather, to help those who have the courage to drink the soup."
Hearing this, Feng Bujue suddenly realized something. He opened his game menu and knew he had made a mistake... the two bowls of soup could restore survival value, and his survival value was already full. He couldn't determine how much one bowl could restore, but it was definitely wasted.
Upon deeper reflection, this task had many layers. It wasn't just about testing the player's courage but also about who would drink first and how they would react after drinking.
If only one person triggered the task, it would be a simple test of courage.
But if two players were involved, there were many variables. If they each had ulterior motives, neither would want to drink first, fearing the human meat, while hoping the other would drink it.
...
"As for the last line of the rhyme," Oink continued, "you'll understand when you get to the school gate."
"Ah, I see," Feng Bujue replied thoughtfully, realizing that Oink's words were a direct hint to the location where the last task of the seven mysteries would be triggered.
Feng Bujue then asked, "Can I have another bowl of the soup you gave me just now?"
"Do you want to give it to your companion?" Oink replied. "Sure, but the third bowl is an extra. What are you prepared to exchange for it?" His eyes suddenly turned fierce: "An arm? A pair of eyes?"
Feng Bujue felt the situation was not right. This butcher was unpredictable, and no one could guess if he would be a friend or an enemy in the next moment. When he heard words like "arm" and "eyes," Feng Bujue instinctively took out a kitchen knife from his bag, ready to use it for self-defense.
"A kitchen knife?" Oink snatched the knife from Feng Bujue's hand, so fast that he couldn't react: "It looks good." He weighed it in his hand, tried gripping and swinging it, and glanced at Feng Bujue from the corner of his eye: "Go get the soup." !!!
