Chapter 76

On the edge of the cold pond, two figures stood. One was Lu Hai Kong, a reinforced martial monk, whose strength was clearly the strongest in this mission world. The other was Fan Pian, who, according to the mission stages, should have been the weakest, but at this moment, these two people with vastly different strengths stood together. A few dozen meters away from them lay the bodies of two raptors and two tourists in tourist attire. Clearly, these pairs of dragon and human corpses were used to complete the mission.

"Is it really here?" Lu Hai Kong asked Fan Pian, his voice hoarse and deep, yet exuding a powerful aura.

"It should be here, right under this pond. Unfortunately, the main entrance is sealed, so we have to use the secondary entrance. This information was obtained by a secret investigation organization that entered the park as tourists." Fan Pian continued to use his phone for positioning as he spoke. "Since I saw the plane ticket and boarded the plane, I have been looking into this matter. I firmly believe that the research and so-called 'resurrection' of dinosaurs by humans is not entirely for public welfare or just to create a new type of zoo. After all, even dinosaurs, which are initially very rare, would become boring after twenty years. The attraction would decline, just like when China first sent pandas abroad, foreigners were eager to see them, but in recent years, with more pandas being sent, foreigners have become less interested. I found a secret investigation organization through various websites and forums and successfully saw their most successful investigation record."

"Focus on your task and stop talking nonsense." Clearly, Lu Hai Kong did not like Fan Pian's rambling. He was more straightforward.

"Alright, this is the spot. Dive down from here to the bottom of the pond, and you should see an outlet. You can enter from there. What you find inside is up to you. Thank you for helping me complete the third and fourth tasks. I've given you the coordinates, so we're even now." Fan Pian said with a smile.

"You can leave now."

Lu Hai Kong took off his clothes, leaving only a wide cloth loincloth, similar to the style favored by the Japanese but also common in many parts of China. His muscles began to bulge, and black runes started to appear, emitting a mysterious aura. Then, Lu Hai Kong began to walk into the pond, and the water parted before him, providing a path forward. The runes flickered, forming a rune circle that separated the water, and he slowly descended below the surface.

Fan Pian put his phone back in his pocket, picked up his backpack, and prepared to leave. However, he suddenly stopped, turned his head, and looked at a nearby tree.

"Ah, now that the monk is gone, you no longer hide your presence?"

The bark began to peel away, revealing a figure. It was Lin Jue.

"Tell me the answer, or die." Lin Jue looked like a friendly older sister, but her words and actions were completely ruthless.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, you're threatening me? I'm not afraid of threats, really. You can try, go ahead, try to attack me." In the face of the threat, Fan Pian moved closer to Lin Jue instead of backing away.

"Now, you're the one threatening me?" Lin Jue countered.

"No, no, if you ask nicely, I'll be happy to tell you. Really, there's no need to be so aggressive. I can't enter that place anyway, and the monk didn't pay me to keep quiet. You're so beautiful, right?" Lin Jue remained silent, continuing to watch Fan Pian.

"Hmm, you must have seen it too. It's the spot where the monk dove into the water. Keep diving down, and you'll find a secret genetic research lab. You know what to do." Fan Pian shrugged, indicating that he had revealed everything he knew.

Lin Jue still didn't respond, turned around, and walked into the water. Her figure became transparent, as if she had turned into a mass of water and merged with the pond.

"Ah, I'm still too weak. Otherwise, I would have gone there myself. Why should I let you have it? Oh well, I'll go try to complete the main mission 5 now—steal a dinosaur egg. The group that assigns these missions is truly insane, one moment they're heartless, the next they're childlike. What a complete lunatic."

Fan Pian walked through the primeval forest, moving quickly but cautiously, his ears and eyes constantly scanning and listening to the surroundings.

"Splash!"

A splash sound came from ahead, and then Fan Pian saw someone floating down the river. The person was still alive, as their eyes met for a moment. Fan Pian recognized him as Zhao Zhu, who had sat next to him on the plane, and he had given him a parachute pack.

However, in this situation, Fan Pian's first reaction was to quickly turn and run. Zhao Zhu was clearly being pursued by enemies and had jumped into the water to temporarily escape. The pursuit was not over, and Fan Pian knew that if he got too close to Zhao Zhu, he might become the second target, a true misfortune.

However, Fan Pian's speed was clearly not as fast as Zhao Zhu's, both in physical fitness and mental fortitude. Fan Pian had only been able to complete several tasks because of Lu Hai Kong's help and cooperation.

As Fan Pian ran, the distance between him and Zhao Zhu grew closer. When he looked back, he saw a half-human, half-dragon creature wading through the water, pursuing them.

"Brother, can you stop following me? You're deliberately putting me in danger." Fan Pian's voice was tinged with despair, clearly exhausted from running.

Zhao Zhu didn't respond, continuing to run and eventually surpassing Fan Pian.

Seeing this, Fan Pian knew that if he kept running, he would become the half-dragon creature's next meal. He stopped, reached into his chest, and pulled out a packet of crystals. He turned, twisted his waist, and threw the packet at the pursuing half-dragon creature.

"Boom!"

A loud explosion echoed, and Fan Pian was thrown back by the shockwave, rolling several times. A large crater appeared where he had been standing.

Zhao Zhu was also knocked to the ground by the shockwave. He struggled to stand up, walked over, and extended his hand to Fan Pian.

Fan Pian nodded, took Zhao Zhu's hand, and used it to pull himself up, though he was now in a much more disheveled state.

"What was that thing, a bomb?"

"A chemical crystal. Just a fingernail-sized piece, when combined with oxygen in the air and subjected to intense vibration, will rapidly burn and create an explosive air current. I threw a whole packet, not just one crystal. Damn, it took me three whole days to make that, and I had to steal a lot of materials from the university lab to do it. I just used it all up."

"Could that thing get past security?"

"Ha ha, no problem. I wrapped it in rock sugar and coated it with syrup when I made it."

"Bro, you're pretty clever."

"Ha ha, not really, not really."

Even though Fan Pian had initially ignored Zhao Zhu's plight and Zhao Zhu had tried to shift the danger to Fan Pian, both harbored ill feelings toward each other. However, now that they seemed to be safe, they naturally put aside their previous grievances.

"What was that thing? It suddenly turned from a human into a dinosaur. Xiao Kai has already fallen victim to it."

Zhao Zhu spat out a mouthful of blood, not sure if it was from his mouth or internal bleeding.

"A mutant. Do you really think Jurassic Park is just for a zoo? Those crazy scientists and sponsors have been researching how to enhance and elevate genetic technology, eventually applying it to humans to improve their genetic levels. As a result, they created one mutant after another, neither fully human nor fully dragon."
