Chapter 46 - Super Soldier Capabilities

Kyle became the sudden focus in the training base upon his arrival. His position as the youngest ‘Second Lieutenant’ and ‘American Hero’ was enough for many of the personnel to engage in such a hot topic amongst one another. His presence was more attractive than an idol.
Steve used this opportunity to retreat in the backstage and allow a group of dancers wearing short skirts to replace him. But it was futile. The soldiers in the square-centre were in an elated mood that the sight of enticing woman could not provoke their hot blood. They looked left and right, trying to figure out where Kyle had gone to.
Meanwhile, in the back stage.
“Steve, it’s been a while.”
“Kyle! It’s so good to see you.”
The two handsome young men ignored the many strange eyes and hugged each other with carefree laughter. It was an intimate action between two close brothers. Kyle simply smiled whereas Steve’s excited face overflowed with unbearable joy, much like a happy, beaming child.
“Ah, don’t press so hard. I haven’t fully recovered from a gunshot wound here on my left shoulder.” Kyle smiled as he scolded Steve who’d grown so tall and his flesh bulging with muscles. He stretched out his arms and punched Steve’s sturdy chest. “Wow, I didn’t expect for you to grow so tall. I think you’re taller than me now.”
Kyle was only 180 CM. As for Steve, he was 188 CM, half a head taller than him.
“It’s all the serum’s doing. Heh, I’m much stronger than I look now.” Steve didn’t hide anything. Then, an anguished grief appeared on his face. “Unfortunately, the professor who helped me had been shot dead by a Hydra Spy. The only Super Soldier Serum sample was robbed and destroyed. Otherwise…”
“It’s alright,” Kyle shrugged. “Even if there was no Super Soldier Serum left in this world, I wouldn’t be too saddened about it.”
After all, he still had his card extraction ability.
“By the way, what happened to your right hand?” Steve smiled, then his eyes widened as it fell on Kyle’s right arm that was tightly wrapped in white bandages. It contrasted against his uniform.
“It’s bruise from the previous battle.” Kyle lifted his right arm and gave out a random excuse.
“Raid and counterattack!” Steve’s eyes lit up. “I’ve heard all about it! You have to tell me the full story.”
Steve, a patriot madman full of righteous beliefs hadn’t been on a real battlefield. Being stuck here had suffocated him. He longed to be free, to do something meaningful in life.
It was just the right excuse Kyle wanted, so he readily agreed. “That’s no problem. How about we find a place for lunch?”
With that Kyle turned around, eyes falling on Peggy Carter who stood behind Steve. This mature woman was as cold as ever, like a rose with thorns.
“Agent Peggy Carter, you’re here,” Kyle said. “That’s right. Won’t you join us for lunch? I said I’d repay you back then. Remember?”
Peggy’s instincts told her no, told her to refuse flat out, but for odd reasons she hesitated and said, “Let’s go.”
