Chapter 3

The first person to come into this world died at an unknown time for an unknown reason, and a sudden, indescribable sadness welled up in his heart. Was it because he had become a child and thus maintained a sense of innocence about everything, which made him so melancholic?
Ian didn’t know, but his nature of repaying kindness simply wouldn’t allow him to accept this fact. However, what could he do now?
Ian wisely didn’t voice his thoughts of repaying kindness, at least not to leave an impression of overestimating his abilities on Sona. Of course, Sona didn’t explain where Pantheon had gone, but the sorrow in her eyes couldn’t be contained and spread around.
Sona left, leaving behind... well, let’s call it lunch. The food in Asgard fully embodied its pursuit of luxury and grandeur, with each dish exquisitely prepared. The taste wasn’t bad, but a salad made from a pile of vegetables couldn’t be very delicious. As for the meat dishes, Ian guessed that Asgard mainly favored grilled foods, as even a ‘stowaway’ like him was served steak, which gave an idea of what Asgard’s daily meals were like.
Perhaps this body was already somewhat malnourished, but despite the food being just passable, he still cleared his plate. After the meal, no one came to clear the dishes, and Ian lay on the bed, reflecting on what he had seen and heard in this short time. This was Asgard, and although he wasn’t sure if it was the Asgard from his previous life, he could at least confirm that there were significant differences.
First, the terms ‘穿越者’ (穿越者) and ‘六道轮回’ (Six Realms) made him feel as if he had swallowed a fly. From the food, it was clear that they were closer to Western tastes, yet they spoke so fluently about the Six Realms. As for the穿越者, he didn’t want to comment on it anymore. People say that穿越者 come with benefits, but if Asgard had become a home for穿越者, why hadn’t the divine realm changed hands? Or was it that everyone’s benefits were so numerous that the conflicts were too intense to determine a winner?
Well, speaking of benefits, a穿越者 naturally couldn’t be without them. In Ian’s previous life, his name wasn’t important. The background was that his parents were unofficial archaeologists. Yes, you read that right, that was their profession. During a self-funded expedition to examine a Tang Dynasty noble tomb, they discovered many antiques. Initially, everyone got along well, but treasure corrupts, and the group that had split up began to die in a series of ‘accidents’! The situation was clear, and his parents staged a fiery action movie, battling the mastermind behind the scenes until they both perished. Before dying, they handed over all the artifacts to the state to avoid leaving him with any隐患, and left him only a plain copper coin of significant archaeological value. So, unauthorized archaeological activities should never be undertaken without state approval! Look, full of positive energy.
Let’s talk about the copper coin. Why is it called plain? Because it really looked like an ordinary copper coin. But why is it of significant archaeological value? Because it had four characters engraved on its surface, four mysterious characters that no one had understood so far! Although these characters were occasionally found, there was no reference, and modern technology couldn’t determine their age! All of this added a layer of mystery to these characters.
Ian’s arrival in this world was closely related to this copper coin. It was a sunny afternoon after the rain, and because the coin was left by his parents, he always kept it with him. Then, a truck, slippery road, and a fleeing driver!
Ian thus arrived in this world. During the battle, he hadn’t noticed, but now, in his free time, he naturally discovered a plain copper coin with white wings floating gently above his soul!
As a new era youth born and raised under the red flag, after being bombarded with web novels for so many years, he naturally recognized the identity of this little guy at first glance.
The Treasure-Dropping Coin, a powerful innate spiritual treasure, specifically designed to counter all sorts of show-offs flying around in the air. So, the question is, which realm has the strongest magical treasures? It’s certainly not Asgard. In Ian’s impression of Asgard, apart from a hammer that often smashed flowers and plants, the warriors seemed to prefer the thrill of cutting into flesh.
What else can it do? Can it bring down spaceships, beam cannons, and the like? Clearly, Ian was overthinking.
He sighed helplessly, grabbed the little wings of the Treasure-Dropping Coin, and shook it. Seeing no reaction, he pressed it back into his forehead. If it were someone else, they might have thought about stealing the hammer, but after seeing Asgard’s military strength, Ian didn’t want to die!
As a stranger, the most important thing to do was to understand the local situation. Knowing oneself and the enemy is the key to facing the world. Now Ian knew himself, but he was still clueless about the so-called Nine Realms.
He slowly got up, picked up all the dishes, and went out. He wanted to use the excuse of collecting dishes to explore the spaceship, but as he walked down the long corridor, he found it unexpectedly quiet. He had walked for about ten minutes without seeing a single person.
“Could Asgard’s spaceship be so intelligent that only a few people are needed to operate such a large ship?” he muttered to himself, continuing to walk deeper into the corridor.
The interior of the spaceship was bright and grand, reflecting the pride of the Asgardians. While Ian admired the surroundings, he casually walked into a room filled with tables and chairs, which seemed to be a place for warriors to rest and play. Jade cups half-filled with red liquid and half-eaten steaks were scattered everywhere. The large windows that allowed a view of the stars finally made Ian realize what was happening.
No wonder he couldn’t find anyone; the war had begun!
The sky was a chaotic mess, and Ian’s eyes couldn’t keep up with the small fighters zipping around. Well, let’s call them fighters. The Dark Elves’ ships were black and cross-shaped, contrasting sharply with Asgard’s streamlined golden ships. The fighters of both sides were also different; the Dark Elves’ fighters resembled sharp scythes with protruding blades, suggesting close combat capabilities and a fierce appearance. Asgard’s fighters, on the other hand, were more like fishing boats used by fishermen in lakes.
The countless streaks of light almost instantly dazzled Ian’s eyes, with yellow, red, and green beams creating a kaleidoscope of colors against the starlight. He didn’t know the principles behind these weapons, but the continuous crashes of fighters and ships made him realize that he was walking on a tightrope over the abyss of hell. At any moment, a gust of wind could send him to his doom.
He casually threw the dishes, and at this point, no one would care. While being stunned by the grand and chaotic war scene outside the window, Ian began to think about how to escape.
End the war with his own abilities? That was wishful thinking. In this world of穿越者, how could there be a protagonist’s aura? Find a fighter and run away? The dazzling beams outside would likely turn him into ashes in an instant. What to do? Should he just wait to die and watch the war end?
Soon, Ian didn’t have to worry about it anymore, as a series of missiles made the decision for him!
Boom!
Ian’s body wobbled as the ship shook violently, and he fell into the mess on the ground. He tried to stand up but realized that with his weak physique, it was a futile effort.
“What are you doing here?”
Ian had never felt Sona’s voice so亲切 before. Before he could lift his head, he felt himself being picked up under someone’s arm, and the soft, plump sensation pressed against his face.
“Good thing I don’t have to look for you! The Dark Elves’ weapons have an extremely corrosive property, and the defense shield can’t withstand many hits. The ship is severely damaged, and we have to abandon it!”
Sona, looking anxious, ran while speaking, not noticing that the child in her arms was almost suffocated by her ample chest.
The footsteps were chaotic, and Ian shifted his head to make himself more comfortable. He noticed that several men and women were following behind Sona. Their attire was quite different from the golden-armored warriors, more similar to Sona’s light armor. He deduced that these were the personnel responsible for operating the ship.
A large group of people quickly rushed through the corridors, and in this tilting and shaking environment, they ran at a speed that surpassed that of a 100-meter champion, showing that even ordinary people in Asgard were not weak.
“Everyone, enter the escape pods and set the landing point to Alfheim!” Sona ordered, her eyebrows tightly furrowed.
“But that’s a battlefield! Isn’t that suicide?” a man called out while running.
They turned a corner and entered an elevator. As the button was pressed, Ian could clearly feel the group descending.
“Alfheim is the closest landing point to the ship. Although it’s a battlefield, if we’re lucky, we might encounter our own warriors. If we fly into space, the longer we stay, the higher the chance of being discovered by enemy fighters, and then we’ll have nowhere to hide,” Sona replied with a grim expression.
No one spoke, and Ian wore a bitter smile. He remembered just yesterday he had escaped the battlefield, and now he was going back! Was this fate playing with him? Was he supposed to enjoy a full meal and then continue waiting to die?
The elevator dinged, and the group rushed out into the escape pods, which were cylindrical and only large enough for one person. Fortunately, Sona’s slim figure allowed her to fit with a child.
Bang! The sudden sensation of weightlessness was disorienting, and through the observation window, a massive planet enveloped in black clouds came into view. Just a few seconds later, a blinding light erupted behind them, and the ship disintegrated into fragments. The fire waves surged like a tide, easily catching up to the escape pods, and in an instant, the world turned upside down, and everything went black.
