Chapter 3115: Everything is Under Control
Mediation Room.
Two men were seated at a long conference table.
One of them was dressed casually, with his legs crossed. This man was Wang Guodong.
The other was dressed in a suit and tie, wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses, and had a black briefcase by his side.
The man's name was Li Changjiang, a friend of Wang Guodong and the lawyer he had hired to handle today's matter.
"Old Li, have you prepared all the evidence?" Wang Guodong asked.
"Make sure nothing goes wrong."
"Don't worry, I won't let you down," Li Changjiang replied.
"Recently, they haven't been holding back at all. They've been getting very close, and the fact that they went home together before is enough to show there's something going on."
"Alright, as long as we can get the house back, my goal will be achieved."
Wang Guodong laughed heartily and patted Li Changjiang on the shoulder. "Once this is done, I won't let you down, old brother. I've already booked a place, and we'll have a good drink tonight."
"Drinking is a must, but you need to arrange for more than just me," Li Changjiang said with a smile.
"No problem, bring your friends, and we'll all have a good time."
"The person I'm talking about isn't my friend."
"Hmm?" Wang Guodong looked at Li Changjiang. "Who else?"
"Today's mediator, Ding Zhijun."
"Hmm? What does he have to do with it?"
"We had some connections before. After you contacted me, I got in touch with him," Li Changjiang said with a smile.
"We discussed this matter, and I won't go into details, but you should understand what's going on."
"Haha..."
Wang Guodong laughed loudly. "I didn't realize you had such connections. We must bring him along tonight and have a good drink."
"So, you've come to the right person for this matter. There won't be any suspense."
"Then I won't worry about it."
Creak—
Just as the two were talking, the door to the mediation room was pushed open.
Ding Zhijun and two others walked in.
Since they knew each other, Li Changjiang stood up to greet them.
But as he started to stand, he noticed something was off.
Ding Zhijun stood at the door and gestured for Ma Huaiyang and Xu Wen to come in.
Seeing this gesture, both were a bit surprised and even a bit at a loss.
Normally, it wouldn't be appropriate for someone of Ding Zhijun's status to make such a gesture.
This was enough to show that their relationship was quite special.
This made both of them feel a bit uneasy.
Instinctively, Li Changjiang's gaze fell on Ma Huaiyang.
From his attire, it was clear he was the lawyer representing Xu Wen today.
After entering the room, Xu Wen's face turned cold when she saw Wang Guodong, and she sat down in her designated seat.
Once everyone was seated, Ding Zhijun straightened his expression and began the opening remarks.
These were procedural formalities, though they had little practical use, the form still needed to be followed.
After a few minutes, the opening remarks were finished, and Ding Zhijun put down his documents and said:
"Everyone is here, so let's start the property division case today. Since there's no intention to continue, there's no need to make things ugly. It's best to resolve the issue here today."
Xu Wen remained silent with a cold face, feeling a bit nervous.
Although Lin Yi and Ma Huaiyang had said she didn't need to do anything and just sit there, she couldn't put her mind at ease until the outcome was clear.
Seeing Xu Wen's cold face, Wang Guodong felt even more confident, believing he was sure to win.
Ding Zhijun glanced at Ma Huaiyang, who gestured for him to proceed, and he understood.
"Then, please let Lawyer Li present his views."
"Our demands are simple: we hope that Ms. Xu Wen will leave the marriage with nothing," Li Changjiang said.
"The reason is that Ms. Xu did not fulfill the commitment of marital fidelity and had an affair with a delivery man. This has caused my client great emotional distress, so we hope to receive corresponding compensation for emotional damages."
Ma Huaiyang smiled calmly.
"You keep saying my client had an affair. Please provide the corresponding evidence."
"Of course."
Li Changjiang took out his computer from his briefcase and presented the evidence he had prepared.
"Please look at this video. Ms. Xu and this man returned home together and didn't come out until the next morning. As adults, you can guess what happened."
"This video only suggests the possibility of an affair but doesn't prove that my client definitely had one," Ma Huaiyang said.
"Can't a man and a woman have a pure friendship? Does being in the same room together mean they must have done something? Don't think too negatively. Accusing someone based on subjective assumptions is unprofessional."
Seeing Ma Huaiyang's counterattack, Li Changjiang said:
"I think you're just being unreasonable, and my client has other evidence."
Ma Huaiyang looked at Wang Guodong, gesturing for him to speak.
"A few days ago, I went to her delivery station and saw her and the delivery man being intimate in the store. They even kissed in public," Wang Guodong said.
"The man even admitted that they had an improper relationship, so don't try to deny it."
"Accusing someone requires evidence," Ma Huaiyang gestured. "Please present your evidence."
Wang Guodong was momentarily speechless because he hadn't kept any evidence at the time.
Through these exchanges, Xu Wen had already understood Ma Huaiyang's strategy.
He planned to deny everything, which would leave room for negotiation on their side.
But whether they could keep the house was still uncertain, making her even more nervous.
"Plaintiff, can you provide the relevant evidence?" Ding Zhijun asked.
Wang Guodong's face turned grim. "No."
"Since you can't, what you said cannot be considered evidence."
"I know, but the man did say that."
"Ha ha..."
Ma Huaiyang laughed. "If that's the case, can I say you had an affair too?"
"Defendant's lawyer, I must remind you that speaking requires evidence. Don't make baseless claims; that's unprofessional," Li Changjiang said seriously.
"I know I need evidence, and I have it, not just baseless claims."
