Chapter 3120: Afraid He Might Wet His Pants

After finishing the call with Sun Tianliang, Gao Xiaoqiu put down her wine glass.

"The time is about right. I need to go back and prepare. I'll come to find you later, and we'll go downstairs together."

"Okay."

Gao Xiaoqiu left, and Lin Yi stood by the window.

From their earlier conversation, he learned that they had set the meeting time for 6 PM.

There was still an hour to go, so there was plenty of time.

Lin Yi wasn't in a hurry. This task posed no difficulty for him; it was just the preparatory work that was a bit troublesome.

At the same time, Gao Xiaoqiu returned to her room, took a shower, changed into a new outfit, and applied some light makeup. She quickly finished her preparations.

Ding dong—

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

"It's me, Ms. Gao."

Hearing Sun Tianliang's voice, Gao Xiaoqiu got up to open the door.

"Is everything arranged?"

"The bodyguards and translator I hired are waiting downstairs. They seem quite capable."

"Don't skimp on expenses in this area; spend what needs to be spent."

Sun Tianliang nodded. "Ms. Gao, we just got some news, and the situation isn't looking good."

"What is it? Take your time."

"The pirates who intercepted us belong to the Bai Sha Security Company. This company is very influential locally and has done a lot of things in recent years. They are ruthless, and many people have died at their hands," Sun Tianliang said.

"They are asking for 5 million, and there might not be much room for negotiation."

Gao Xiaoqiu frowned.

This was indeed not good news for her.

After all, her upper limit was 1 million, and she couldn't go any higher.

If the other party refused to budge, things would be very difficult.

"At this point, we can only take it one step at a time and do our best to handle the situation. If they don't accept it, we'll just have to drag it out."

"Understood."

Time passed quickly. Ten minutes before 6 PM, there was a knock on Lin Yi's door.

He tidied up his clothes and went out, noticing that Gao Xiaoqiu had changed her outfit.

She was wearing a formal business suit, with pants that covered her completely, leaving nothing exposed.

Seeing Lin Yi with her, Cui Ye and Sun Tianliang didn't comment.

Clearly, Gao Xiaoqiu had already informed them.

They all knew the ins and outs of the situation.

Gao Xiaoqiu told them that Lin Yi was the bodyguard she had hired, but everyone knew the real deal.

"Let's go, it's about time."

The four of them entered the elevator. When they reached the ground floor, they saw about twenty people standing in the lobby.

They were all tall and imposing, but with different skin tones. When they saw Sun Tianliang and the others come out, their posture became a bit more orderly.

Lin Jiang stood to the side, observing these people.

He noticed one who was relatively thin and wore glasses, with a physique and demeanor that didn't fit the role of a bodyguard.

Lin Jiang guessed that this person was likely the translator.

"Ms. Gao, these are the people I hired to handle security for the next few days."

Gao Xiaoqiu looked at the bodyguards and asked, "Can you find more like this?"

"I've already picked the best ones," Sun Tianliang said. "If we look further, we might find another ten or so."

"Another ten or so..."

Gao Xiaoqiu muttered, lost in thought.

"Ms. Gao, do you have other plans?"

"I'm not optimistic about today's negotiations. We need to have a backup plan."

"Do you mean to confront them head-on?"

Gao Xiaoqiu nodded. "I'm afraid the talks won't go well, and we can't afford to delay the shipment. If that happens, we'll need to arrange for these people to go to sea with us."

"If we're willing to spend more money and hire more people, we might have a chance."

"Let's see how the negotiations go. If they fail, we'll proceed with this plan," Gao Xiaoqiu said. "We must maintain control and not let them lead us around by the nose."

"Understood."

After giving the instructions, the group left the hotel and waited at the entrance.

The bodyguards followed behind, creating a strong presence.

"Ms. Gao, why don't you let him wait somewhere else? If the talks break down, we won't have to worry about taking care of him."

Throughout, Cui Ye and Sun Tianliang never treated Lin Yi as a bodyguard.

That's why they suggested this.

They weren't afraid of upsetting Gao Xiaoqiu, as their relationship was purely physical. After this business trip, they might forget each other, so they didn't have many concerns.

Gao Xiaoqiu thought for a few seconds, then turned to Lin Yi. "Why don't you go have a coffee in the lobby or take a walk around? I'll call you when it's done."

"We already agreed that I would be your bodyguard. If I leave now, I won't feel right about earning this money."

Cui Ye looked at Lin Yi. "This negotiation is dangerous. We're just looking out for you."

"Because it's dangerous, I'm staying," Lin Yi said. "We're all from the same country, and it's only right to help each other when abroad."

Seeing Lin Yi's determination, Cui Ye and Sun Tianliang didn't say anything more.

They had done their part, and if he insisted on staying, it was his own fault.

"He might be a bit naive. He's probably only seen pirates in movies and hasn't seen the real thing," Cui Ye joked.

"Many civilians are so well-protected that they think the world is peaceful. So now he wants to join in the fun," Sun Tianliang said. "When he sees real pirates, his legs will probably turn to jelly."

"That's not our problem. If he embarrasses himself, it's his own issue," Cui Ye said.

"I'm not worried about his safety; I'm afraid he'll hold us back."

"It won't be that bad. We can just make sure he doesn't speak, and he shouldn't affect us," Cui Ye said. "The only thing is, I hope he doesn't wet his pants, ha ha..."

At that moment, Gao Xiaoqiu also looked at the calm Lin Yi and asked, "You don't seem afraid at all."

"This is a public place; they won't just start shooting, right?"

"That's true, but for ordinary people, encountering such people would be nerve-wracking. Your composure is impressive; you do have a bit of a bodyguard's demeanor."

"Well, you have to act the part," Lin Yi said with a smile. "I can't just take your money for nothing."

"Your attitude makes me feel like I'm getting more than my money's worth," Gao Xiaoqiu said. "But I have to warn you, the people we're negotiating with today are not like the ones you see in movies. They have killed people, and I'm not joking."
