It's said to be a matter of handling, but it's not really a big deal, after all, this isn't a civilized society.
Sun Jiao just called the cleaner through the intercom by the door, explaining about the assassin and such, and then a few people came to carry away the body on the ground. Before leaving, the cleaner didn't forget to spray a blood-dissolving agent on the carpet in the living room to clear the disgusting stains. The hall manager also came personally to apologize for the stalker who had infiltrated the hotel.
In the post-apocalyptic world, death is a very common occurrence.
This hall manager seemed to have handled such situations before, acting quite proficiently.
After declining the hall manager's offer of a compensatory dinner (steak made from mutated beef), the hall manager turned and left. The so-called compensation was just a formal proposal; people who could afford to stay in such a hotel wouldn't care much about a meal of meat.
Since this suite didn't have a kitchen, it only had a microwave for heating in the dining room and a dusty rice cooker. Although the rich people who lived in such places generally wouldn't choose to prepare their own food, it wasn't impossible for some particularly wealthy tycoons to be accustomed to using luxuries like rice.
Indeed, rice is a luxury in this era. Even the digital tower farms in the Sixth District don't produce much rice. Most people still rely on nutritional supplements as their main food, occasionally eating cooked food as a treat.
However, Jiang Chen was clearly one of those tycoons.
Taking a small bag of rice from his storage space, he washed it and poured it into the rice cooker, adding a certain amount of water. In less than half an hour, the white rice that made Sun Jiao's eyes sparkle was ready.
Jiang Chen no longer hesitated to take things out of thin air in front of Sun Jiao, and she didn't ask too many questions. Jiang Chen could tell she was very curious, and he was also very grateful that she didn't ask too much. Jiang Chen believed that one day he would tell her all his secrets, but not now. Because he himself couldn't explain the miracle that happened to him well, and vague explanations would only lead to unnecessary misunderstandings.
After pouring the canned food into a plate and heating it in the microwave, the not-so-lavish but luxurious dinner began when the steaming dishes were placed on the table.
It's not very lavish because Jiang Chen was almost sick of canned food.
It's luxurious because this was the first time Miss Sun Jiao had seen so many dishes with names she couldn't even pronounce on the table.
After a very undignified feast, the luxurious dinner ended.
Touching her flat little belly and glancing at the empty rice cooker, Jiang Chen couldn't help but be surprised.
It seems that the gene agent not only strengthened his muscles but also his stomach. This appetite was at least twice as much as usual. From this, it seems that Sun Jiao's large appetite wasn't just because she was a foodie.
"I deliberately made more, planning to save the leftovers for breakfast tomorrow, but you ate it all." Jiang Chen looked at Sun Jiao, who was patting her stomach, and laughed.
Sun Jiao's face turned red, and she glared at Jiang Chen, "What, scared?"
"Not at all, I can afford to feed you no matter how much you eat." Jiang Chen shook his head.
Although it wasn't sweet talk, Miss Sun Jiao seemed very satisfied. The "tough" older sister even showed a hint of a happy smile at the corner of her mouth.
"Help me clean up, will you?" Jiang Chen rolled his eyes at Sun Jiao and stood up with the plates.
"Sure thing."
Looking at Sun Jiao's flat little belly, Jiang Chen really couldn't figure out where those five large bowls of rice went.
"The commercial bank building in Qingpu is in a bustling area, with very high zombie density and radiation levels. And... there are dangerous species lurking."
Lazily lying on the bed, Sun Jiao's finger tapped on the holographic computer screen, and a three-dimensional image made of green lines appeared.
"This is the map. If we need to get the gold inside, we need to enter from here, then go through the safety passage, and from here... Hey, are you even listening to me?" Sun Jiao glared at Jiang Chen.
"What is this?" Jiang Chen swallowed, looking at the high-tech product in Sun Jiao's hand.
The physical part was only about the size of a pen, with a square light screen projected from the side forming the screen, and a three-dimensional image made by holographic projection floating above the screen.
This product, which only appeared in sci-fi movies, was something Jiang Chen couldn't believe he was seeing.
This thing alone might be worth more than all the gold in Wanghai City.
Of course, it's hard to cash it in the real world. If Jiang Chen took it out, interested authorities would likely come to discuss how he could contribute to the country.
"Holographic computer. Although it's not as reliable as a wrist-mounted computer, its performance is much higher. I mean... ignorance has its limits, right?" Sun Jiao rolled her eyes again, adjusted her slightly sore arm, and continued lying down.
"Okay, what are dangerous species?" Jiang Chen looked at the back of Sun Jiao's head, sighed, and admitted his ignorance, lying down next to her and staring at the computer screen.
"Like the guy called Meat Mountain we met this morning, and this one." Sun Jiao's finger slid across the screen, and a creature similar to the alien in the movie appeared above the screen. "Deathclaw, with a subcrystalline energy index between 40-50. It's very agile and has a keen sense of smell. Its body is covered with high-density keratin armor, making it difficult for ordinary kinetic bullets to cause substantial damage. In short, it's best to run when you encounter this thing... although it's hard to escape in most cases."
A faint jasmine scent disturbed Jiang Chen's nose. Because she used modern shower gel and shampoo, Sun Jiao now exuded an especially enticing fragrance.
But they were discussing serious matters, so Jiang Chen controlled himself.
Gathering his thoughts, Jiang Chen stared at the image of the Deathclaw on the screen and asked.
"Does this thing appear near the commercial bank building?"
"Deathclaws appear in various places. Generally, they like to live near the center of nuclear explosions, but they sometimes wander around. I'm not sure if there are any, but in places with high zombie density, other mutated creatures often appear. For mutated creatures, zombies are part of their food."
"Any plans?" After a moment of thought, Jiang Chen asked.
"Of course. There are two options. One, directly infiltrate the underground vault and place explosives for a blast. Two, go to the control room, hack the mainframe to gain access, and then open the vault's password lock normally."
"Where did you get this information? Is it reliable?" Jiang Chen looked at the clear and concise route on the holographic map, slightly moved.
"Liuding Town, where the most complete map database is. It's said to be data downloaded from satellites just before the war, so there shouldn't be any problems."
"What is Liuding Town? I keep hearing you mention it." Hearing Sun Jiao's explanation, Jiang Chen couldn't help but be curious about what Liuding Town was.
"Bohai, an aircraft carrier." Ignoring Jiang Chen's surprised expression, Sun Jiao turned and winked playfully, then continued, "So, my boss, should you make a choice?"
"Option one is too dangerous. The noise from blasting the vault will definitely attract a lot of zombies. If the whole street is filled with zombies, we won't be able to escape."
"That's my thought too. Although the whole street might be an exaggeration, the zombies in the building will definitely swarm over." Sun Jiao shrugged, not very concerned.
Even during the day, zombies can't be said to be completely non-aggressive. If they are strongly stimulated, they will still attack.
"What about hacking? Can you hack the mainframe?"
"Me? I can't do that." Sun Jiao laughed, "To survive in this post-apocalyptic world, good shooting skills are enough. But there are many people with such skills, and their living conditions are often not good. Hiring one wouldn't cost much."
"Then let's choose option two. Where can we hire someone for this?" After a moment of thought, Jiang Chen made a careful decision.
"Here, in the slums of the Sixth District, where all the non-combatants live." Sun Jiao nodded toward the window, turned off the holographic computer, and lazily lay on the bed. "By the way, are you really not worried about the Ash Golem Mercenary Group? Although they are active in Songjiang, we did kill their people... and in their eyes, you're a fat sheep."
"You're right," Jiang Chen rubbed his chin, "I have a feeling they will choose to act when we leave the base, or follow us to find a weakness."
"Should I go out and prepare first?" Sun Jiao sighed and stretched her slender arms.
"Exactly, we can do this..." Hearing Jiang Chen's plan, Sun Jiao's eyes lit up.
"Good, even more devious than me... then you can go to the talent market yourself tomorrow, right at the entrance to the slums. The commission is usually 1 subcrystalline, and they will help you pick until you're satisfied."
"Okay, it's better to act separately. Be discreet when you leave." Jiang Chen cautiously instructed.
"Got it," Sun Jiao waved her hand, not very concerned, "I've offended many people, just a mercenary group. If I wanted to leave, no one could stop me."
I can guarantee that if I wanted to leave, no one could stop me... Jiang Chen thought to himself.
He casually pressed the switch of the bedside lamp, and the warm light in the bedroom dimmed. It was already very late, and through the bulletproof glass of the window, there were no pedestrians on the street.
"Oh, going to sleep directly?" Sun Jiao turned over, hugging the quilt to her chest, and looked at Jiang Chen with a smile.
"You little devil... we have important things to do tomorrow, go to sleep."
They had already had a fierce battle earlier.
If they did this every day, Jiang Chen's body would really struggle to keep up.
