Chapter 32

"Rizette, I love you."

"Uh-huh."

"I really, really love you. I love you so much."

"I know."

Ralph wore a deeply content smile and gently combed his fingers through my hair as he sat beside me. His complexion was so much better, it was hard to believe that just two weeks ago, he had been on the brink of death.

He had fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital just yesterday. Ever since, he had been following me around like a fledgling bird.

...After I used magic on him, I apparently collapsed from exhaustion. By then, the corruption inside Ralph had completely disappeared. Even the Holy Maiden was shocked, finding it hard to believe.

"You must have been truly special."

That's what she said, explaining why the monster had been so fixated on me.

A few days later, when Ralph woke up, he seemed to find it hard to believe that he was still alive. With trembling hands, he slowly reached out to touch my cheek.

"We're both alive. Thank you so much."

When I said that, Ralph pulled me into a tight, tight embrace.

Since then, he has been even more expressive with his affection towards me. At first, I was flustered, but now I'm so used to it that it feels like a part of his speech.

Even as a savior, reacting to every little thing was tiring, and now things have returned to how they were a few months ago.

"Are you still angry at me for being so selfish? Do you hate me now?"

Ralph finally seemed to be concerned about this. When I immediately denied it, he let out a relieved smile. As always, he had the most beautiful face.

Somehow, I feel like I've been following his pace all along. That's why I suddenly wanted to break it.

"Being able to be with you like this, Rizette, makes me so happy."

"Uh-huh."

"I really, really love you."

"Me too."

When I said that nonchalantly, he froze like a statue.

A few minutes later, his beautifully shaped eyes widened in disbelief. His face clearly read, "I can't believe it."

He hadn't noticed my feelings at all. The silly expression on his beautiful face made me smile uncontrollably.

"I love you, Ralph."

"R-really?"

"Uh-huh. Really."

When I nodded deeply, a single tear rolled down his amethyst-like eyes. He wiped it away hurriedly, but more tears kept spilling over.

"I'm so sorry."

"…No, it's okay."

"All the past… feels like it was worth it…"

His words made my vision blur.

Being able to meet him again, and to live together from now on, made me so happy and grateful. And it was all because he had never given up, even after such a long time.

"…Will you really stay with me forever?"

"Of course."

"I love you, Rizette. I love you."

"Already, I get it."

Thinking about the future that lies ahead, a future where I will live with him who loves me so much, my heart raced.

July 14th, the first volume of the manga for this work will be released! Mr. Kumano Salmon has turned it into an incredibly beautiful and interesting comic…!!!!!
