Chapter 3

Today's update is the last one ('ω')!

I hope you enjoyed it.

"Vorguls...!"

They stood about as high as my waist.

Three humanoid monsters, hairy and somewhat resembling apes, were loitering in the small room.

They had already noticed our light and were preparing for battle.

"I'll take the first shot!"

The arrow Silk released flew through the mine shaft with a sharp whistling sound.

It pierced deep into the Vorgul's chest, just as intended.

Her aim was as good as ever.

"Kyaa kyaa!"

With a strange cry, the Vorgul charged at us.

...But Marina had also sprung into action.

Marina wielded a slightly shorter bastard sword, which seemed to be well-adjusted for her smaller stature, balancing reach, power, and maneuverability.

Now, it's my turn to do my job.

First, I cast three types of <Body Enhancement> spells on Marina, then flicked my fingers to cast <Knockdown> spells on the two Vorguls.

It's a simple spell that just makes them slip and create an opening, but it can be fatal during close combat, just like the Vorgul Marina just cut down.

"Nice work."

"Yeah, that was Yuki's magic, right? It made it so much easier."

"Sure, no problem. But you've really improved. I'm impressed."

Vorguls are just common low-level monsters.

But the timing of their charge, their movements, and their positioning to protect the rear were all quite good.

If she were to join a party on a temporary basis, she might even be able to fight in a B-class party.

"Hehe, thanks. But I just followed the training you taught me!"

"Call me 'sensei' no more. Let's move on and collect the magic stones."

I plunged a knife into the chest of the dead Vorgul and efficiently retrieved the magic stone.

Magic stones, which are found inside monsters, are used as power sources or materials for various magical items, and there are many places, including the Adventurer's Guild, that buy them.

They are one of the sources of income for adventurers.

"Good job."

Rain, who had been watching the collection of the magic stone closely, said this quietly.

"Thanks, I'm used to it."

"We can't do it like that."

"Well, in the future, I'll take the lead, and we can practice together when we have time."

"Okay."

After collecting the Vorgul's magic stones, I took the lead again and carefully advanced through the mine shaft.

Given that it has become a dungeon, it wouldn't be surprising if there were traps or more monsters.

However, we managed to reach the stairs leading to the second floor without any particular issues. Maybe it's because we've been good.

"How's the routine for dungeon attacks? Do you rest at each set of stairs?"

"Yeah, and we also report any damage."

I see. As I taught, they seem to be sticking to the basics.

Parties that do regular damage checks and those that don't have a completely different risk of encountering unforeseen situations.

By the way, in the 'Thunderpike,' they hardly ever did this.

It was common for them not to report anything unless I asked.

"Alright, let's go."

Holding up the [Revealing Lantern], I descended the stairs.

Usually, the deeper you go into a dungeon, the stronger the monsters become.

The same is true for the 'Painthall Abandoned Mine Dungeon.' On the second underground floor, the wandering monsters are a bit stronger.

Just as we descended the stairs... these guys attacked us.

"Dead miners! There are a lot of them!"

About a dozen dead miners, armed with pickaxes and shovels, surrounded us as soon as we descended the stairs.

Dead miners are undead-type monsters, and as such, they don't fear pain and are generally quite tough.

"Rain!"

Silk called out, and Rain had already started chanting.

She struck the ground several times with her crosier and began to recite her prayer aloud.

"Marina, Yuki, cover me!"

Silk drew her rapier and shouted.

"Okay!"

"Leave it to me. <Body Enhancement>, <Shield Wall>, <Minor Blessing>!"

She cast area-wide enhancement spells.

With this, even minor attacks shouldn't cause fatal injuries.

Next, I pulled out a vial of holy water from my potion holder and sprinkled it around Rain.

This alone can immobilize low-level undead.

"Take this!"

Marina forcefully blew away the approaching dead miners.

Even with <Body Enhancement>, her fighting style was quite impressive.

Now, I need to work as a middle guard.

I drew my short sword from my waist and approached the nearest one, slashing at it several times to intimidate the dead miner.

The short sword, made of true silver, must have been painful for the undead.

By the time I did this, Rain's prayer was complete.

With a "shing" sound from her crosier, a soft light spread and the dead miners were erased.

When the light faded, there were no more moving dead miners.

"Great job, Rain!"

"I got the time I needed."

Rain, who is usually reserved, but that scale of <Purification of the Dead> is quite useful. Her skills as a 'Cleric' must be at least B-rank.

I lightly flicked my fingers and cast <Continuous Magic Recovery> on Rain, then took the lead again.

If we had a scout, these random encounters would be reduced...

"...? Hey, Yuki. Did you do something just now?"

"Yeah, I used <Continuous Magic Recovery>. <Purification of the Dead> can be quite draining, right?"

At my answer, Rain looked surprised.

How was it ('ω')?
