Chapter 44

4 min read934 words

I became able to walk around outside by myself after becoming a middle school student. However, only during the daytime.

On weekdays, I have extracurricular activities, so I hardly have any free time, but being able to wander around for a few hours on weekends is quite delightful.

I can now buy snacks at the convenience store without having to hide it. I can carry them in a large bag and bring them home without my mother noticing.

My mother is so dedicated to her beautiful skin that she would never allow me to eat cheap, greasy snacks.

Moreover, my next goal is to eat fast food.

I really want to eat junk food. Why are French fries so delicious? I definitely want ketchup with them.

Ruisan is a private school with a wide range of students, so I’m afraid I might be seen at a store far from home.

And I want to go to the festival stalls! But since they are at night, it’s even harder to go, so it might remain a dream for a while. The yakisoba and takoyaki from the stalls are so delicious. Oh, and I want to eat ikayaki too.

I thought I would be free after advancing to the middle school, but I was appointed as the vice-class president again.

And my partner is the class president, who is in the same class as me again. It feels like we are a set, but I’m not the type of person who should be a class committee member like the class president.

The class president is like a born class president. Everyone calls her “Class President” as if it’s her name. What is her real name again?

In May, we have a traditional school trip, and it’s a mountain climbing trip.

Ugh, mountain climbing. I don’t want to go.

The concept is to bring the internal and external students closer together by sharing a difficult experience like mountain climbing, but I think we could get along much better by having a barbecue or cooking in a campsite instead of panting and being unable to talk during the climb.

Unfortunately, I don’t understand the appeal of mountain climbing at all.

The class president apparently likes mountain climbing. When I asked her what she enjoys about it, she said the natural scenery, fresh air, and the sense of accomplishment after reaching the top, but I still don’t get it.

We are all delicate girls who are used to traveling by car, so I don’t want to be subjected to such a harsh experience.

By the way, I remember we used to do squats during elementary school, but we stopped doing them at some point. I still do stretching exercises before bed.

I feel like my legs have gotten a bit thicker recently. Well, compared to my previous life, they are still much slimmer.

In my previous life, when my height stopped growing in middle school, I suddenly started to gain weight horizontally, which was terrifying.

I was called “Nerima” by some mean boys. In Kyoto, I was called “Shogo-in.” I cursed them all with a height-stopping spell.

There were so many girls who were fatter than me! I was of average weight! My legs weren’t fat, they were just swollen!

Why are middle school boys so insensitive? Are they just stupid? They must be stupid, yes.

I also cursed them with a spell to make them unattractive. The effect of this curse was powerful. Hehehe.

I tried a leg-slimming diet, but it didn’t work at all. Ugh, all these bad memories are coming back.

I’m thinking about buying a bamboo stepping board for the next break.

During the mountain climbing trip, our group fell behind early on. Class President, I’ll leave it to you. I’m struggling just to keep up. My lungs are making strange noises.

It’s so hard. I’m only looking at my feet to avoid falling, so I’m not enjoying the scenery at all. What’s fun about this?

When I look behind me, I see a few other students with the same deathly pale faces. ...Good, I’m not the last.

Somehow, we managed to reach the summit, and the students who had already arrived were eating their bentos.

Wasn’t the point of this mountain climbing to build team spirit?

I’m so exhausted that I don’t even have the energy to eat my bento. Our weak group was hunched over, looking exhausted.

Meanwhile, I could hear the excited voices of the girls surrounding Hayashimaru and Enjo, who were sitting nearby.

While we hadn’t even opened our bento boxes, they had already finished eating.

The girls in the group, who seem to be turning into typical middle school girls, are mostly good at sports, which is enviable.

After resting for a while and regaining enough energy to eat, I noticed a few external male students and internal female students chatting happily.

What! While we were complaining, some of the external and internal students had gotten closer! Is this the effect of mountain climbing?!

Nothing like that happened to me. Maybe it’s because of my wavy hair and tracksuit.

Oh? Isn’t that Miharu?

Miharu is the vice-class president of another class. She fits the image of a vice-class president perfectly.

Miharu was talking to an external male student. She’s laughing.

The class president must be worried about this. She was already anxious because Miharu is in the same class as Enjo.

This means the class president will probably come to me for advice soon.

Ah, I wonder if the Kichijoin family’s helicopter will pick us up on the way back.
