A new series has begun.
Thank you for your support.
Where am I?
My eyes, which I opened groggily, saw a ceiling I didn’t recognize.
And in my ears, a sound so loud it was almost painful.
Is that the cry of a child?
I don’t know anyone with children, so I shouldn’t have many opportunities to hear such cries...
Still, what’s going on?
Since I’m awake, the next thing to do would be to get up and start moving.
Naturally, I tried to use my arms to lift my body.
But, despite my will, I couldn’t get up at all.
Moreover, my head felt foggy, and my thoughts were frustratingly unclear.
Could I have been in an accident?
I don’t remember anything, but maybe I was injured in an accident and can’t move?
If that’s the case, the fog in my head might be a result of the accident.
Then, where am I?
If I did have an accident, I should be in a hospital.
But it doesn’t look like one at all.
After all, the ceiling and walls I’ve been seeing are terribly dirty.
It’s not just dirty.
There’s no dirt on the wallpaper, and it’s not faded from age.
It looks like the walls themselves are made of dirt.
And in some places, the surface seems to be eroded, making the walls uneven.
“Oh dear. Are you hungry?”
Then, a sound I hadn’t heard before reached my ears.
I quickly turned in the direction of the sound.
A figure was running over, making a pattering sound.
As it got closer, I could see the person’s face.
It was a woman.
A young and beautiful woman in her twenties.
I couldn’t help but be startled for a moment.
But the woman quickly dispelled my confusion.
“Light”
It was because the woman’s action was completely unexpected.
The moment she spoke, raising her index finger of her right hand, a ball of light shot out from her fingertip and floated in the air.
This isn’t a hospital!
It’s a different world!!
Without thinking, I blurted out a Kansai dialect comment, but I shouldn’t worry about it.
At this point, I finally understood my situation.
I’m not in the Japan I know, or even on Earth.
At least, it’s a world where magic exists.
And the crying I’ve been hearing all along seems to be my own.
In other words, this is a case of reincarnation in a different world.
Thus, the curtain rose on my new life.
